The ending was horrible!

Warning: Spoilers
The majority of the episode was actually decent, until the last 5 minutes or so, when Lex escapes.

WHEN YOU ARE A COP AND SEE FELLOW COPS DIE, YOU DO NOT RUN AT THE BAD GUY WHEN YOU HAVE GUNS, YOU RETURN FIRE!

Lex Luthor fixes Supergirl
dferrisdrmer31 August 2019
Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor is just what the Supergirl series needed. The first half of the season is filled with political commentary that was really getting old. I got to the end of this episode and thought "Now, we're talking!" I can only imagine how much better the rest of the season will be.b

Alan Harper is a GREAT Lex Luthor!
yannis_bal18 March 2019
The best episode of the series, hands down! And the reason is one: LEX!

Who could think that Jon Cryer would be one of the best Lex Luthors ever?

  • The schemes... Of course he had everything planned, for years, to the last detail!
  • The obsession with Superman. The only being he is extremely emotional about.
  • MISS TESSMACHEEERRRR!!!!

One of my favorite episodes this season

Warning: Spoilers
Very good episode, though it was lacking a lot of Kara, which is odd. The Luthor dynamics are interesting and fun to watch, Brainy and Nia's relationship is adorable, Alex meeting her new (potential) love interest was cute, J'onn struggling with who he is breaks my heart, Kara trying to hide the fact that she's Supergirl from Alex, hell even James having to take a call from his mom, it was a very entertaining episode.

The Lex Luthor we deserve
GomezAddams66618 March 2019
Supergirl is not the most consistent show when it comes to quality, but as far as this casting and this episode they have outdone themselves.

Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) is dying because he exposed himself to kryptonite trying to kill Superman a few years ago, and his only hope is the black kryptonite a.k.a. Harun-El project that Lena Luthor has been working of but has not perfected, yet an emergency situation might force Lena to speed up the process and come up with a cure.

Jon Cryer excels at playing Lex Luthor, he is evil, deceitful, cunning, and most importantly he lacks conscience. But most importantly Cryer plays the character with the seriousness and respect such a powerful presence deserves, and we then get the Lex Luthor we deserve, and the one we need right now on the series.

He has upped the threat levels, and because of his performance I give this episode a 10 out of 10... I cannot wait to see where he takes this amazing interpretation next.

Best episode!
slbolfing18 March 2019
Supergirl started OK; but, has never been better than that. Too much political commentary, too little emphasis on story. This episode has the potential to turn the series around! At first, I was Leary of Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor. I was beyond wrong! The ending was fantastic. I really hope this show is going in a new, better direction.

Wow, this is one of the best episodes ever! Finally we get to see Lex and exciting storyline around James and Manchester. It was always a thrilling moment in this episode. And ohh right, Miss Teschmacher!!! A easy 10/10.

10 for Alan
egipt_emperor19 March 2019
Well.. it supposed to be tragic due to the fact that it was Lex Luthor... but since Alan Harper joined the team, things got funny! No, there is no way you can put Alan harper to play the villain.. he is an idiot! :)

Decent.

3 out of 5 stars.

The episode introduces Lex Luthor which was a fun interesting take on the character. And the direction it ends for the rest of the series. Meanwhile, Manchester plots to cut power to the city. Which Supergirl and Jonn try to stop him.

Easily, far and away, the best episode of the show
bbowl2525 March 2019
The first season wasn't bad. Since then, this has, in general, been a terrible show, with few exceptions (you rock as always, Chris Wood!). We have hung in there out of habit. People, and moments, have largely been "devices" in the last 2+ seasons (not the actors' fault). Admittedly, the last couple of episodes were better than they should have been, based upon the "episode descriptions." But all of your pain throughout the last 50 or so episodes -- all of the few-highs and mostly-lows -- pays off during this episode. The preachy, irritating, irrational setup (for 50 episodes) of this season's 15th episode is somehow worth it.

This is, top to bottom, the best episode of the show. Jon Cryer is perfect for this version of Lex. He and Lena have a great dynamic. The writing is terrific, finally. Moments are held, instead of blown through to get preachy, childish plot devices out of the way -- the show has been mostly driven by elementary lessons up until this point. But this episode, finally, showed us that a CW show can have acting, writing, and directing work together (all of the DC CW shows have been trying to recover this quality this season -- with some success across the board). I don't want to give away what happens, because, for once, you didn't know everything that was going to happen in this episode -- there are actual twists! I was so shocked at the success of this episode, I made this my first TV show review. If you gave up on this show, skip to this episode, watch, and then pray with me that subsequent episodes keep this level of quality.

Lillian as Lex Luthor Mum
nazamiqbal-554973 June 2019
How is Lillian Lex's mum when there's only a five year age gap between the actress and the actor who plays them. When did she have him? When she was 10 years old?

However despite the age difference I like the casting for Lex but just felt Brenda Strong is too young to play Lex's biological mother.

Decent, kind of slow
wikzonenicho20 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It didn't occur to me until this episode how vital it would be for supergirl to have emergency medical training. I got so mad when she found James shot and didn't immediately start tending to his wounds or calling for help. This is your family friend's life on the line! And Lex Luthor is one of my favorite villains - next to Katie McGrath's in Merlin- but I found his escape unrealistic (I know that's a lot to ask for in a fictional superhero show but still... come on) Those prison guards followed the classic stormtrooper trope where they either didn't get a single shot off or they miss by 30 miles. Not to diss the actor but I don't see him as Lex he's not a scary enough actor.
