Massively underwhelming. So many questions...
anguschambers2 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What happened to Kenny? How the hell can you introduce that at the start of the season as the major plot device and then not even address what actually happened?! Criminal.

Still what are the twelve? Are we really any closer to finding out where they're about/what their aim is?

Villanelle killing Rhian at a tube station? Conveniently empty but what about security cameras...? I thought she was an assassin, seemed very careless?

Why even bother teasing Konstantins death? Great acting from him but could see what was gonna happen from a mile away.

Everyone coming together felt a bit convenient and for the fans. Felt like the avengers or got s8. Bit underwhelming.

What is Carolyn's game? Still feel like I know nothing about her really.

Just confused why they've decided to turn villanelle into a total, careless softie. Seems like an underwhelming character development really.

Bear had a secret camera all through the series and never once thought to check it?! Really?! What a joke. And because it was someone was nicking his sweeties?!! Do me a favour. Lazy.

Konstantin saying "meet us here" and then not saying where they are.

Why has Eve suddenly decided to stand by Villanelle? She beat her up the last time she saw her... not much explanation as to why she's given in.

What's really the point of Geraldine? Great acting throughout, but what purpose does she actually serve? Doesn't change Carolyn at all, none of her scenes have any real consequence, struggling to work out why they randomly brought her in at the start of the season.

I love konstantin but why did he not die? Or at least why didn't she try and get some information out of him before letting him just saunter off? He's gonna die eventually and has flirted with death way too many times it's getting slightly absurd. Just kill him, it made sense at that point.

Man, the writing let down such incredible acting from the amazing cast. I loved season one, season two was still great, but season three was disappointing for me. No clue where this is going next season. I wish the best of luck to whoever has to pick this story up....

Fantastic second half
SlowlyMonkey1 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode starts by relaying some of the more frustrating points of this season (characters teleporting from place to place leading to scenes that felt like they required at least a couple scenes in before them to make sense of it), while also highlighting a personal gripe of mine with this and the last episode's director (dialogue pacing! the last two episodes lost some heft in their dramatic scenes by having too much downtime between lines).

However, the last 20 minutes are some of the best this show's ever produced. They feature breakthrough moments for pretty much all the main characters, while FINALLY shedding some light on just where on earth Eve's mind is at now (apart from being obviously obsessed with Villanelle). The ending leaves everything just about wide open as it can for Season 4 (except for maybe Konstantine coming back.. I feel like he has given all he has for this show and it was a perfect ending for him).

I'm honestly a little worried for a Season 4 that might not feature the cat-and-mouse game that has shaped this series at its core, but it really is the time to move these characters in a different direction, and truly flip the script. In any case, while I do love the show, I hope they don't drag it on for too much longer - 1 or 2 seasons should be enough to wrap up the characters' motivations and eternalize them in TV heaven.

"Are You Leading or Am I?" finishes off a good season in which I rather enjoyed the individual episodes while not necessarily feeling satisfied with the overall story arc. I did like the steps it took in becoming a more character-focused and dramatic show though, and I hope to see this continue in the next season as well. Humor is a good tool for this show, but considering especially where it's headed, it definitely still is a DRAMA series at its core.

Season Three Review
southdavid12 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The phase "Jumping the shark" has been bandied around for this third season of "Killing Eve". I think that's way too far, but I would concede that the issues in this season have continued the trend of "characters looking for a plot", that began in the last run.

Following a time jump from the end of the second season, Eve (Sandra Oh) has recovered from her gunshot and left the intelligence services, working now at a Chinese restaurant. She drawn back in though when she is approached by Kenny (Sean Delaney), now an investigative journalist and tracking information about the 12. Villanelle (Jodie Comer) has moved on too, and is looking to advance her career by moving into assassin management. Her initial trainer Dasha (Harriet Walter) is sent to make contact and assess her capability.

Lots of the aspects of the show that I previously admired are still there. Performances are still great, Comer is still a revelation as Villanelle. It's still got its humorous offbeat moments and dialogue. It still looks great, foreign locations and tremendous outfits. Harriet Walter's Dasha was a great additional character as was the whole team at the investigative publication. I liked the bottle episode of Villanelle heading home.

But. I feel like it's a plot designed to keep the show going, rather than a compelling story that still needs to be told. I'm not, if I'm truthful, sure I could tell you exactly what was going on for all of it. I understood the story strand about the money going missing from the 12, and where that went, and what was done to cover that up. Carolyn's daughter's relationship with Konstantin seemed like a misstep and I'm not sure what it added other than something for Fiona Shaw to be doing. Steve Pemberton's addition didn't really add anything, when you consider the series as a whole. Kostanin's daughter was an unusual step also. I get nothing about Villanelle's interactions with Helene either.

Let's not get too down, I'm still enjoying the show overall. But there needs to be a storyline shakeup before the fourth season, to try and arrest the decline.

Great finale to a good season
StevenMacCane1 June 2020
Although the Season 3 had its flaws (pacing was a bit off IMO), it also had some amazing character developments, especially for Villanelle, Eve and Carolyn. Wittiness and action of the show was not on par with Season 1 but it certainly was good enough and had me laughing in stitches and/or sitting at the edge of my seat on more than one occasion every single episode. The show is still amazing, albeit with a bit different feeling in the Season 3. Finally, that whole last part of the final episode of the Season was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen! My heart grew as big as the house! Can't wait for Season 4 (and hopefully more)!

Great finale to a weaker season
rtpanda1 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
It's safe to say that I do agree with most of the critic that came this seasons way. They pushed too many (also non necessary) storylines and side characters forward with the almost lazy reasoning to develop the main cast further. While I do agree that this resulted in a weaker season in those aspects, I do not agree with people thinking that the growth of Villanelle's and Eve's character or the changing dynamic between them is out of place given S1 and S2s storytelling. I mean what do you want to see? The cat and mouse game can only go on for so long (literally two seasons) before it grows stale and frankly unrealistic. These characters needed to come together at one point, nothing else would have made sense. Villanelle is the only person who can understand Eve's darkness (which was teased in previous seasons already) and Eve can only understand, that there is more behind Villanelle than just a cold blooded killer. This episode did a great job portraying that and built a great foundation for Season 4.

A normal ending, but still worth watching

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is not so good, but not too bad. Finally V and E had time to stay together. Best part of this episode should be the last 3 minutes when V and E are on the bridge. Really like their conversation and the moment when they couldn't help to look back. Hope to see better V and E next year.

GREAT FINALE, TO A SOMETIMES SLOW SEASON
This season has not been my favourite, but has had the funniest one liners, especially Carolyn. She also deserves some awards for this season as she has been the highlight for me this season.

The tension and chemistry between Villinelle and Eve is still good, especially during this finale. All in all my favourite episode of the season.

Season 3 the best so far
shivoodle2 June 2020
Think season 3 is the best yet.. from episode 1: the camera pan reveal, V as one of the brides! ha! Dasha..a great, fun character and story arc. Kenny...; V's ambition and pursuit of family; to episode 8 where she shows maturity and real caring, empathy and love towards Eve. Cinematography is outstanding and adds a visually pleasurable dimension to the storytelling. Art direction excellent, as usual. In fact, I think all production values are above and beyond what we've become accustomed to in television. Music and costumes, hallmarks of this show, are spectacular. And I love the benign cliffhanger at the end of this season.

Wth!
panjumon1 June 2020
This entire season makes no sense! Its so funny how implausible all of this is! Random things keep happening here and there for no rhyme or reason. I can't understand if its deliberate on the part of the makers. I just cant laughing at the absurdity of all. I still enjoyed it though I'm mostly sitting thinking wth is happening.

Generally unsatisfying
v_danilovic1 June 2020
The best moment in every respect was Jamie, Bear and Audrey cowering. Otherwise, rough editing, very disjointed. Too many questions from previous episodes left unanswered (really only 2 were resolved).

I'm even more unsure of what Carolyn is about, and I like her less and less. Do we think the last word about Kenny is really the last word? Wherefore Geraldine? I'll wait for season 4, but with less anticipation than for past series.

Maybe my negative comment a few episodes ago will turn out to be a positive. Maybe Killing Eve will turn out to be little more than a 'vehicle' to showcase Jodie Comer. Maybe the title character and all the others are nothing but window dressing. We shall see.

I feel the fan base will rate it higher than it deserves
fallyhag1 June 2020
A very messy edit with little of the original chemistry. Lots of mashed together scenes that make no real sense. The intelligence in the storyline was lost early on in the series and this finale was pretty underwhelming.

The poor character buildups were pointless because nothing came from them. The finale was just one poor scene to the next. At one point it got very lampoon. Farcical. The scene in the underground was a potential blockbuster but turned into an anticlimax. Another pointless character.

Overall this series was pretty poor. Poor in story. Poor in edit. And poor in content. Very flat episodes which all came to a non ending. The fans will love it but they won't admit that it just wasn't very good at all. Sorry to disappoint.

But series one will be forever amazing!!!

Wonder what next season will be about.
empleat2 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Since Villanelle retired from being assassin and working for the 12, it feels like there is not much else. Since whole TV Show was about Villanelle being assassin and working for the 12 and the Eve. I liked her working for the secret organization and being assassin, with her psychopathic personality and dark humor, it was priceless. But now since she is out, it doesn't feel like TV Show has much to offer. I can't imagine they would just go on vacation with Eve, or her helping with bringing down the 12, that would be boring. Since we all like her for being antagonist in this show. Or i can't imagine, she would go working back for the 12 after what she did, because she is too unstable. Anyway great TV Show, i just don't like it as much since she retired...

loose ends
glstrom-1426026 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I wonder why some people get to write 23 character reviews and me 600...do they pay a membership to say. "Good Episode, look forward to next season" ? At any rate I realize I am let to this party and that the train for interest in this has mostly left the station, but at least I get a weak little wave from Eve as I go. Seriously needed to have a a few things wrapped up this season, like what actually happened to Kenny (not buying Konstantine cause he is a weasel/liar through and through) , why Bear was so slow on "lets go to the videotape Johnny" moment while his candies are highlighted once again for comedic effect. Dasha now must go because? Konstantine was embezzling money how? When? Eve gets a clue then nearly drops it pursuing the money and annoyingly not giving heart attack man (who she should have been doing mouth to mouth on and chest compressions earlier) his nesting dolls. Leads us to his now completely psycho daughter running over a nice guy foreshadowing her replacing Villanelle I suppose). Let's call her, not tell her where we are and have her show up. This after pointless dance scene where we again are subjected to Eve's unwatchable long, sad, droopy face while trying to read every great nuance in Villanelle/Jodies.

Cut to Geraldine the pointless having relationship with Konstantine (never retrieving fridge magnet bus listening device btw) and wasting perfectly good filet mignon and for what ? So now all the big players are in one room, Paul the under developed baddie gets offed as we are to imagine it is Konstantine Carlolyn is going to kill for being last person with Kenny. Eve acts surprised and shocked , Villanelle indifferent and K should have had another heart attack. The problem is we have no real villains , who the F are the 12, what is the point of having Kennys buds even exist, what in hell does V even see in E? Seriously, what? Likes her just because Eve has a crush on her? Nico was right to tell her to piss off as she brings nothing to the party but that face and we have another 8 episodes to see if it changes. Please Villanelle , do something about that.

Dissapointing...
kurtmax14 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The showdown with the rival world class assassin was like a bad cat fight outside a pub. No indication of any skill on either party. The entire season drove home a lack of caring for anyone in the show. Vilanelle's batting her eye's etc was great in moderation but it's beyond wearing thin. I could go on... Very dissapointing. Makes Austin Powers look classy.

Are You Leading or Am I?
Prismark1014 December 2020
There is no doubt that Season 3 of Killing Eve has been weak and disjointed.

The cat and mouse games between Eve and Villanelle was pushed to the back. Instead there was a story about the Twelve and I think even the writers did not seem to interested in it.

It was a mish mash of Villanelle losing the buzz of being an assassin. Her manipulative relationship with her mentor Dasha and an increasingly fragile one with Konstantin.

At least the final episode brought icy Carolyn Martens to the fore. She got revenge for the death of her son.

For Eve and Villanelle there was a tango at a dance club and an understated but emotional scene between the two at Tower Bridge.

My daughter summed it up: she didn't even realise the last episode was the last. Confusing plot, pointless poncing around, no idea WTF was going on. Don't invest in this turkey any more.

What a nonsense way of loosing time.
nicosbo4 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was all a disaster from the 2nd chapter in the 3rd season. But the loss of morality in the main character was coming from way before; how she just take for granted her love for Villanelle when she killed her best friend, and many people more. This ended being a silly, light story with no head or tail. Phoebe wouldn't let this happend. You just killed a show with a pretty good premise.

Chaotic finale for a chaotic season
ForceofSU16 May 2021
This episode perfectly shows the mess this became. All characters are running around without a plan in mind. All but one. And that "one" is a supporting character.

Comparing the main character now to what she was on season one leads to thinking it's not the same character. First, she knew exactly what she was doing, and she had a stable relationship with her handler. And now, she almost stopped working which advanced her career? How? She and her handler are not even friends now, and she is running around like a headless chicken.

The ending scene of this episode is actually the cherry on top which helped me decide that i am not watching anymore. This is nothing like what i watched in season one.

Outright terrible, disappointing and trash
saadgkhan18 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Killing Eve Season 1 (Emmy Worthy) Season 2 (Almost Perfect) Season 3 (Disappointing)

Season 3, damn how the cookies crumble. With new screen writer Suzanne Heathcote came the WOKE PC Agenda. She took out everything good about the show and put her "OWN" PC spin on it. First she takes out Two White Males out of picture, Kenny full and Niko half. Then she makes Carolyn center of the story and introduces her 40 year old daughter (That girl from Game of Thrones) out of nowhere who acts like a screaming teenager the whole time. The show starts with Villanelle's lesbian wedding and then her Wife is nowhere to be seen. That seemed like a Gimmick. The biggest problem is she took Villanelle's smart wits and made her outright annoying. A trained finest assassin doesn't know if she killed someone or not and moves on believing that EVE is alive. Who goes see her husband, lives in Chinatown sees Kenny etc etc etc. Eve investigating Kenny's death and doesn't check the camera footage first to see who came to saw Kenny in office. Later in the end, they have footage for Carolyne. These smart women of MI6 closest person died and they don't do the obvious thing to check camera footage.

Talk about bad writing and fall from grace, Phoebe should have handed over the baton to someone who understands the characters rather than next best friend. Season 3 takes away focus from Villanelle or Eve's cat and mouse chase and focus on all other new characters (Old Assassin), (Old Daughter), (Young Daughter) and (The 12 Leader) we don't care about it at all. The political correctness of the season 3 was so outright annoying and obnoxious that it took me out of my favourite series. People who watch KILLING EVE are already Woke, we don't need lectures and this propaganda rather than caring about characters and story every move was calculating how to make it more PC. Anything which is successful is being Crucified in next season with same PC propaganda.
