The Flash is back and better than ever!
cap969 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Surpassing The Flash's first stellar season was always going to be tough, but so far, Season 2 is off to a terrific start! This episode saw the introduction of two new, key characters: Jay Garrick and Patty Spivot. Jay Garrick, played by Teddy Sears is the Flash from Earth-2, who was pulled into the singularity that Barry created in the finale of last season, and arrived in our Earth-1. He tells the team about Zoom, this season's big bad, and explains how he lost his speed in his final battle with the blue speedster. Jay Garrick is a great addition to the cast; he blends effortlessly with the rest of the team, and his interaction with Barry was a highlight of the episode. His older, wiser but more worn Flash worked really well with Barry's younger, more enthusiastic Flash. Their interaction was great to witness, with Jay acting as a mentor to Barry, and even teaching him an awesome new ability! The other fantastic addition to the cast, is Patty Spivot. Played by Shantel VanSanten, Patty is a young, passionate cop who adamantly wants to join the Anti-Metahuman Task force, and who also happens to be Joe's new partner. Patty is passionate and driven, and incredibly smart, but also hilarious and adorable, and certainly made quite an impression on Barry, who could not stop smiling whenever she was in the room. The chemistry between their two characters was phenomenal and lots of fun, and something I can't wait to see more of! Patty also had arguably the best lines in the episode, especially with her speech to this week's metahuman sent by Zoom, and her talk with Joe about her motivations for joining the task force. All in all, a terrific episode to follow up the premiere. Jay and Patty are inspired additions to the cast, the introduction of the multiverse was amazing, and all comic fans will love the iconic shot that they recreated featuring both Flashes!

Doppelgangers
ThomasDrufke14 October 2015
I don't know why I ever had any doubts that this season would be strong. What another fun episode this was, with plenty more teases as to what's to come. We got a glimpse of Zoom/Professor Zoom/whatever Cisco ends up calling him, a look into more of Cisco's Vibe powers, Patty Spivot, and even Mrs. West. There was a lot going on in the episode, but as the show does so well, it never felt too packed.

We began just as last week's episode left off, with Jay Garrick invading STAR Labs. It was nice to see that Barry wasn't quick to welcome him into the group. I don't care what Iris says, that made a whole lot of sense. After a full year of letting Wells control most of what the group does and then seeing him turn on them in a second, I think Barry has a right to be cautious. It actually draws an interesting parallel with what happened to Oliver for awhile. He lost people, and refused to trust anyone for a good portion of season 2 and even season 3. Back to Iris, I'm not really seeing her purpose in the show right now. She barely has any lines in the episode and season thus far and her big scene with Barry seemed more fitting for Caitlin anyway. Hopefully, she won't turn into Laurel from season 2 of Arrow.

That brings me to Patty Spivot, who is brought in as Joe West's new partner. I'm intrigued by her character and especially her motivations as revealed later on in the episode. With that being said, I found her humor and chemistry with Barry to be a bit off. It just felt jarring to me, almost to the extent of Emma Stone in Aloha. Her character just didn't seem to fit in with the tone of the rest of the show. But I came around after awhile and excited to see a different love interest for Barry. Anyone but Iris.

The villain this week was lame but not as distracting as Atom Smasher was last week. It's interesting that this season we know out of the gate that the big bad is Zoom, and so it at least gives the villain of the week episodes a purpose knowing they work for him. It does beg the question as to why Zoom is so mad. Is it just what Garrick said and he just wants to be the best? Or is there something more going on here? Does Wells' scene at the end in the future have anything to do with what's going on in the present with Zoom?

It's worth mentioning that we had another small crossover with Green Arrow showing up on the news segment on the TV at STAR labs. It's cool seeing the shows crossover even when it's in such a small capacity. Plus, Cisco's line about the name change was priceless. Another small Easter egg was Sand Demon's (what a stupid name) line about Blackgate Penitentiary. I think this universe will continue to give the smallest of the small hints and teases as to Batman's existence or any Gotham & Metropolis relations. But make no mistake, they will never appear on the show. So yet another strong week for the Scarlet Speedster, or should I say the Crimson Comet.

+Garrick

+Flash team up

+Vibe teases

+Green Arrow & Batman easter eggs

+Spivot was a nice addition...

-...But definitely bothered me at first

-What is Iris' use at this point?

A good start

Warning: Spoilers
Even though the last episode wasn't that good, this one was much better. The new characters that were introduced are all pretty good in my opinion. I'm excited to see how Jay and Barry will work together, and what new powers Barry will learn from Jay. Zoom also looks cool, and it will definitely be a pleasure watching his character evolve in the future episodes. Wells is also back in some different time line it seems, which leaves me wondering what connection he will have with Barry this season. Perhaps Zoom will send Wells to kill Barry? But that's just my guess. All in all season two seems to be starting off well.

Wells is back!
super_ethan16 October 2015
This episode made my day!

I'm really glad with Jay entering the team (for now) he means business, but in a good way. He doesn't fool around and he knows how much danger Zoom can cause and obviously he also knows about most of the meta humans that will come to fight Barry. Zoom might even be better and stronger than Thawne was so it could make for a great climax at the end of the season (or even season 3 you never know). The reintroduction of Wells made me the happiest, because no matter how evil he actually was in the first season, this version of him is from an entirely different universe and it wouldn't make any sense if he is a speedster as well, let alone be a threat to Barry. So i hope they will get him to come to Barry's universe to help out. That being in a different way as the previous Wells, obviously because he has no speedster powers.

This was definitely a step up from the first episode, even though i also liked that one a lot.

+ Jay, hopefully he will get his powers back too, that'd be awesome

+ Barry coming to his senses and accepting help again

+ Possibility of more power development for Barry (the lightning punch was dope)

+ CGI looks great

+ i wanna be on the task force Lady

+ Cisco's new found ability, that's gonna be useful for sure

+ Ronnie is probably alive (he must have gone through a portal)

  • Iris, if you're gonna make her important, don't give her those cheesy corny dialogue

  • Joe is getting a bit annoying

Spivot: Flash! Allen/ Garrick: Coming!
mickykenny129 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Now that's a bloody good episode. Normally when a series starts the first episode is amazing and the second lack just a little, this one however is the opposite.

Teddy Sears playing Jay Garrick made the episode, really nailing his presence mixed with his good hearted nature of the comics with a modern twist. What's more interesting is how he interact with the team. Everyone is willing to accept him with open arms, accept Barry, who after the events with Harrison Wells is have some trust issues. This is much better that the initial, 'oh we'll let you join us' without any real evidence that he's a good guy, other than his word. Barry shows his hesitance that gives the character more layers, showing he's frightened of another 'Wells' situation. One of the best parts is where Garrick gets frustrated with Allen when he still doesn't believe that's he's on the side of good half way through the episode.

We get a good look at Zoom in two scenes, clad in a black full body speedster suit, vibrating much like the Reverse Flash did. The first scene he appears in is whilst fighting Jay Garrick & the second where he recruits Sand Demon, allowing us to hear the tremendous voice of Tony Todd.

Another character who's shown a different side to them, Cisco. realising he's developing meta human abilities and not wanting to talk about it, brilliant. Supporting characters like these normally just love all the superhero stuff, without taking in the gravity of the situation, almost as if a fan is taking over the role rather than the comic book character. But this time its different, Cisco is showing fear as to what will happen if these powers keep evolving. Giving him more of a relatable aspect rather than just a one dimensional character

Now obviously the best scene is when Barry and Jay need to fight Sand Demon, terrific battle, Barry gets a new ability and they make probably one the the best references so far to a classic Flash issue. Running on either side of a wall with Patty Spivot positioned perfectly as the person in peril on the cover, it truly was terrific.

Last thing; before the credit the scene revealed Earth 2, showing it off with this golden hue to it and all to of people dressed, kinda similar to the 1940s (or at least inspired by) then you have Harrison Wells make his appearance in a slim fit suit, with an ambiguous sinister tone to him cause us to think, who is he? -Thawn -The real Dr. Wells - Or something else

In summery, it was a great episode an improvement on the 1st Ep, causing me think there is more greatness to come.

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Flash of Two Worlds
lbramson10 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Jay Garrick from Earth 2 comes to visit and stop the Sand Demon. Luckily, after the lackluster previous episode, Episode 2 is back on track to the usual awesome! The Flash of Two Worlds introduces the multiverse and sets up our main villain in flawless fashion! The two Flashes, Barry and Jay, have great chemistry with one another and make it a fun experience to kick off Season 2. Furthermore, it creates mystery better than Season 1 ever could. Who is Zoom? Jay? Wells? Patty? The world may never know...until Episode 15. I love 2x02 and it should've been the premiere for this season. Definitely going above the last at an 8.6/10.

Flash of Two Worlds
SpideyVerse2328 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode worked much better than the first episode of this season, with several new developments taking place.

Jay Garrick is introduced and he comes from Earth-2 with information about who Zoom is. But, Barry is hesitant to trust him and takes drastic measures to make sure he isn't lying about his identity.

Meanwhile, Cisco's powers come into play in helping the team find the villain of the week, SandDemon, and Stein figuring out the truth about his powers.

A new character, Patty Spivot is introduced as an officer trying to join the meta-human task force headed by Joe, due to her personal history with an old villain. I liked the chemistry between her and Barry.

This episode is so hard to rate
okraievskyi2 September 2022
This is one of those episodes that is really hard to rate because it had many good moments, but alos many bad ones. I liked the main plot, Jay Garrick (obviously) was awesome, enjoyed the villain and team up. I love the idea of different doppelgangers and it makes me wonder if the show's gonna introudce an alternate Barry Allen later. The character arcs are also so thought out in this episode. Cisco's arc was just amazing. That's all I have to say. I thought Barry was acting out of character at first, but when it was revealed why, it became perfect character growth. Heck, even the female cop's arc was great. I'm not sure how I feel about a certain character (no spoilers) returning at the end - it would be tiresome to have him as the big bad when we have a potential great original villain, but if it's an alternate version and he wants to help, that'll make some great character conflict with him and Barry. Earth-2 looked great. However, this seemingly perfect episode was nearly ruined by some bad actor performance - especially Joe's wife, no offence but she sounded like she was reading a script. The villain's dialogue with Joe was not written or acted well. Garrick's actor was great tho. Some bad CGI here and there, but the final battle looked good. Overall, pretty good, but excited for this series to improve.

disappointed, but still a good show
mwinston-4193216 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I loved season one, all the way until finale. I don't when the hero of the story was the major cause of the problem. He goes back in time just to not save his mother and then comes back and puts everyone at risk. If you're going to fight the reverse flash you better win, or it was for nothing. Seems to me that Ronnie and Eddie are the real heros.

And Flash marries Iris. There is no reason to get so far from that plot. In the comics she is his wife of 25 years. It's fine to have a slow build to their relationship, but the writers have not even teased at anything real between the two.

Now you have the 52 singularities which would not exist if flash never went back in time. Not to mention he goes back in time to achieve nothing. Also, why are all his friends letting him off so easy. I'm going to keep watching, but I'm not loving the show the way I once was loving it.

And so it continues.
Jdmaxgaming13 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
With a disappointing last episode, I came in hoping for that magic that was in season 1, and while I still feel like the second season is not off to a solid start, this episode was better then the last. The references are on point in these last two episodes, with that Batman reference in episode 1 and Cisco's VIBE reference in this episode. It's so cool, especially for a comic book nerd. Zoom looks pretty cool, and the story about Jay Garrick is a little slow, but promising. Most of all, I'm excited to see Dr. Wells back. I think it's awesome they're still making room for him to be in the show. Barry's trust issues was just such a mood downer, and I'm happy they got rid of that fast! Overall, I'm happy this was a step up from the last disappointing episode. Hopefully, it only gets better. Until next time! - JDMAX
