The Batman (2022)
I'm whatever Gotham needs me to be
Gotham needs Batman, as much as Batman needs Gotham.
Robert Pattinson plays the role of an almost suicidal Bruce Wayne to perfection. There's nothing in his life that makes him happy. All he wants to do is be Batman and solve the puzzles lying in front him. Which is ironic given the main theme of the movie is him figuring out what the Riddler is trying to achieve. The distractions are obvious, but Bruce is unaware of the real danger being himself and his doomed mission of vengeance.
Brilliant performances all around by the cast and here's hoping for the sequel to be even better.
Free Guy (2021)
You know what, this was awesome
I'm not one who goes on and reads reviews from people who are paid to do so and then gives something a 100. No movie is without it's flaws and neither is this one.
However the joy, the creativity and the performances overall are all sublime. Ryan Reynolds delivers some of his typical lines (although differently of course), and they usually work well, but it's everything else that makes this such a fun ride. Sure it's mainly about guy, but everything around the character is what makes it connect so well.
Go watch this if you haven't yet.
Logan (2017)
Everyone says it, but i won't.
The popular line already being thrown around right now is: This is the movie every Wolverine fan wanted.. and more. This may be true to a certain extent but this is no Wolverine movie as much as it is more a movie that stands apart from any other superhero movie EVER made. People are already comparing it to The Dark Knight, hopefully only because of it's quality and not because it has any kind of resemblance to Nolan's masterpiece.
Logan isn't just about Logan.. it's about Charles, Laura.. a new breed of mutants. Everything really. Sure, Logan is hurting and he's only a shadow of his brutal old self (which is funny, as this movie is as R rated as any marvel movie can go, aside from Deadpool of course) But he's not necessarily the one carrying the movie or even the team (which consists of him, Charles and Laura). Laura is absolutely amazing. The acrobatic brilliance she possesses, along with her raw power is reason why Logan can keep on going. Prof X however, is more an obstacle than an ally. He means well, but he has lost full control over his abilities and needs help in every area, including taking a bathroom break.
One thing Logan still has is timing.. amazing timing at that. Especially with the humor. It's dark, but brilliantly placed and i laughed a LOT during this movie. Which says something as the trailer suggested the ultimate darkness in the franchise was now reached. In some ways that is still true. But for a good laugh you will enjoy this as much as Dpool, just in a different manner.
Let me keep it at that. The movie is amazing and stands alone on a pedestal of greatness. It is worthy of all the awards it will be nominated for and has little weak points.
+ A very vulnerable Logan + Superb new role filled by Dafne Keen in Laura + Sir Patrick Stewart delivers a top notch, Oscar winning performance + Surprising cameo, which is not a real cameo but you'll get it later on + New mutants + Great humor
- Maybe the villain and the Doctor. They're not very interesting but i doubt it was the movie's main focus anyway. They did play their roles well though
The Flash: Flash of Two Worlds (2015)
Wells is back!
This episode made my day!
I'm really glad with Jay entering the team (for now) he means business, but in a good way. He doesn't fool around and he knows how much danger Zoom can cause and obviously he also knows about most of the meta humans that will come to fight Barry. Zoom might even be better and stronger than Thawne was so it could make for a great climax at the end of the season (or even season 3 you never know). The reintroduction of Wells made me the happiest, because no matter how evil he actually was in the first season, this version of him is from an entirely different universe and it wouldn't make any sense if he is a speedster as well, let alone be a threat to Barry. So i hope they will get him to come to Barry's universe to help out. That being in a different way as the previous Wells, obviously because he has no speedster powers.
This was definitely a step up from the first episode, even though i also liked that one a lot.
+ Jay, hopefully he will get his powers back too, that'd be awesome
+ Barry coming to his senses and accepting help again
+ Possibility of more power development for Barry (the lightning punch was dope)
+ CGI looks great
+ i wanna be on the task force Lady
+ Cisco's new found ability, that's gonna be useful for sure
+ Ronnie is probably alive (he must have gone through a portal)
- Iris, if you're gonna make her important, don't give her those cheesy corny dialogue
- Joe is getting a bit annoying
9/10
The Flash: All Star Team Up (2015)
First real disappointing episode
So we had to wait a little bit for this episode and for the past few weeks we've been getting a lot of trailers for the upcoming final episodes of the first season. The trailer were quite exciting to say the least, so i can imagine everyone including myself being really excited for all of what's going to happen..
Unfortunately All Star Team Up wasn't quite what i expected after seeing so many trailers.. i'm probably not alone when i say i expected Arrow, Firestorm and The Atom to appear alongside Barry to fight something huge. (Spoilers ahead)
We only get to see one ally in this episode, which is about a former employee of Dr. McGee who has been working on robotic bees to kill those who have done her wrong, including McGee herself. Honestly the whole bee concept kinda annoyed me, probably because i hate the living crap out of bees.. but also because Barry was unable to fight them off despite the speed he has. It felt a little unrealistic and seeing him almost die went a little far if you ask me. Fortunately, the whole Iris/Eddie drama and the ever so foolish humor of Felicity Smoak makes up for most of these moments. Btw, Iris is a real bitch in this one, Barry gave her great advice (which she liked btw) but she still gave him an ultimatum.. ****$@#!#! Poor Eddie.
I guess we can expect more epicness in the last 5 episodes in which the Reverse Flash will make an appearance and make things a whole lot more interesting.
