Nice change of pace
DjDarkrai103 May 2022
Although it isn't as crazy as the previous episode, this episode was very entertaining and had a lot of great callbacks to breaking bad. Can't wait for next week!

The Criminal Lawyer
tristan_193 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The word is out.

This episode reminds us that the most important concept of this final season is to set how Jimmy turns into Saul. Everyone now knows what Jimmy did to help Lalo in court, and the business is booming.

I like how the episode plays on the themes of paranoia and such. Mike reveals to Kim he had people in place following her and Jimmy, because Lalo is actually alive. Kim was right to be on her guard, but Jimmy had a train of thought that was solid too. She could have felt that way, because she got away with it.

Wendy and Spooge are nice callbacks to Breaking Bad. I really like what they did with the first, and her involvement in the Howard Plot. Cliff is definitely getting more and more unhinged, as seen in the previews for the next episode.

The directing is absolutely flawless. Good Job Rhea ! The use of music is also excellent and more prominent in this episode, which helped raising the quality even higher.

But... Where the hell is Lalo ? The suspense continues...

The Building Blocks of Sauls Final Transformation
Adam-092653 May 2022
I liked this episode. Jimmy's conversion into Saul over this series has been long waited, and we finally start to see the grasp of the goofy criminal lawyer that extracts that very character we know and enjoy.

Not as strong as the last episode but that was Nacho's story, this moves more onto the motive for Kim and Jimmy, with Kim learning a truth shaking her feel for safety while supporting Saul. It becomes tensional for what's to come with a funny yet interesting arc for a good episode. It also gave me Breaking Bad vibes, i can feel the connection at this point between the two shows. Like two halves of string being stitched together.

A solid episode on development with a good sense of nostalgia.

8.7/10.

P. S. I've only just found out this episode was directed by the very Rhea Seehorn (Kim) herself. Nice.

Slower but significant.
maxglen3 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Kim and Saul continue their plan to discredit Howard with a fun cameo from Wendy. Cliff still isn't quite ready to throw Howard under the bus though, possibly because of his son's history with substance abuse. Gus gets paranoid and has people watching anybody who Lalo might approach and has his house bugged to Timbuktu. The one shot of him going through that secret tunnel was fantastic. The court has completely disowned Saul like a leper after news of him helping Lalo has broken and because of the negative attention he's drawing to the nail bar, he has been kicked out and must find a new place to practice, which is when we finally see that iconic lot from Breaking Bad. It's also worth mentioning we see Spooge, the junky who gets his head crushed by an ATM in BB, although, he's looking a little healthier here; perhaps Walt's 'superior' product destroyed more lives than we might have thought. Overall, a slower but still important episode with a few great cameos, fantastic acting and cinematography and a particularly good score. A strong 8 to a light 9/10.

It's happening!

Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS***

I was afraid they wouldn't ease us into his change into Saul and just rush things, but this episode proved me wrong. Kim meeting Mike? Perfect. Seeds of doubt planted? Fascinating. Ostracized by his "kingdom"? Beautiful. Assigning numbers to his future clients? Gah! This is what we've been waiting for. Also Mike's comment about not being able to tell Kim about Gus (basically) bleeds into BB where Saul knows a guy who knows a guy. This episode was so good. Jimmy's Howard "costume" was just icing on the cake 😂 I love this final season.

And Gus. The glaring obviousness between how crime should work and how it shouldn't is very much on display. However, let's not forget, Saul does outlast Fring. By how much? Only Gene can tell us.

Well directed Rhea!

The Word is Spreading
mattrabbi3 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The quality of this season is extremely consistent so far, as it has always been. This episode had so many events which were either extremely important to the story, great callbacks to Breaking Bad and earlier BCS seasons, or just hilarious.

The most hilarious being Saul dressing up as Howard and stealing his car, only to make him look bad once again in front of Cliff, with the help of Wendy, who we know from Breaking Bad! The whole execution of that sequence was done to perfection, and made it very entertaining to watch. I'm really enjoying this subplot because it's one of the first times we're seeing both Jimmy and Kim do something genuinely spiteful and wrong. Poor Howard, though.

We also find out that word has spread in regards to Saul defending Lalo Salamanca. On the downside, his peers are disgusted with him. On the upside, he's receiving lots of new business, most notably from Spooge, who we know from Breaking Bad. Loved this cameo, and it really makes you wonder what went wrong in Spooge's life which led him to the state he was in BB. This is likely a very important twist which leads Jimmy down the crooked path to get to where we see him in Breaking Bad.

Plus, at the end, we see him finally consider buying the place we know as Saul's office from Breaking Bad!

Moving toward Gus' storyline, we learn that Mike has been sending people to watch anywhere and anyone that Lalo may go to. This leads to Kim being paranoid that she's being watched, and also leads to our first interaction between Mike and Kim. Mike reveals to Kim that Lalo is, in fact, still alive, which very much worries her. A very well executed scene, with a callback to Mike's job in season 1. We still don't know the whereabouts of Lalo, but something tells me that Mike's guys may not be who we saw following Jimmy and Kim at the end of episode 2.

Overall an amazing episode which leaves you wanting more. Can't wait for next week, I'm really intrigued to see where all the storylines end up! For a prequel, giving that feeling to the audience is a great achievement.

"The wicked flee when no man pursueth"
bosporan3 May 2022
It was always going to struggle to be as magnificent as last time, but this is a solid change of pace, focussing more on Jimmy and Kim. They step up their plan to pressure Howard in a hilarious, yet credible caper to reel in Cliff.

A superb performance from Rhea Seehorn (Kim) beautifully portraying, fear, resolve and concern, both at being worried about being followed and Jimmy's gradual Saulward shift.

Never loses steam
Peanutman20203 May 2022
The first half of the episode might make this the funniest episode of all time in the BB/BCS universe. This one was fun to watch for the entire runtime and added a great deal of variety to the traditional Saul formula.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Saul Goodman!
abigoldberger3 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Another excellent episode of an excellent show. We get a change of pace and a change of focus, whereas the first few episodes where more focused on the Nacho-Lalo story, here we're back to focus on the Jimmy-Kim story. This episode really pushes the story forward; Jimmy's scams on Howard, Kim being Followed,Gus thinking what's next, and most importantly Jimmy getting closer to Saul Goodman. Also loved Kim and Mike's first interaction, and the appearances of Wendy and Spooge. Can't wait for what's to come.

A showcase of outstanding performances
skilitsischris2 May 2022
The pace of this episode is just marvelous! By just each character's face we can understand their thoughts and reactions empathizing or disliking them.

Thats the point of this series ,-not quantity of wow actions - just the reality of something that could happen on edge in our real world placing these human - or inhuman -reactions to people that interact with it!

Creativity and persuasion
mnmn-028623 May 2022
A great full episode in terms of directing, story and events that increases enthusiasm for the end. Kim's directing herself for this episode is a beautiful and wonderful thing The series continues to convince me that there are no mistakes in it, this is no less than Breaking Bad. The truth of this series has reached a terrifying stage of perfection.

What an episode! The vibe I got from this episode was so awesome. The world's are slowly becoming one, and we are learning new things about the characters who we've known forever now. It was funny, it was intense, it was a rollercoaster of emotions and I enjoyed every second. Wonderful directional debut for Rhea Seahorn, and a fantastic watch all around!

Lack of aftermath of Nacho's death?
fabrcsakai5 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Rhea's directing was okay. People are crazing about it because it's her directing, otherwise they wouldn't care. The first episode was much more better in terms of directing.

But the lack of aftermath of Nacho's death was my biggest complaining about this. The episode moved on like he was a side character with no importance to the story. Gus and Mike acted like nothing happened, Nacho's dead didn't know about his son death, the focus was on Mike's guys following Kim while there should be at least a person protecting Nacho father (Mike/Gus gave their words, and Hector knew about his father so it would be the most direct target of his anger.

This made the episode look like it was a piece apart rather than an episode within a season. Honestly I wasn't a great fan of the episode, it looked all over the place.

Getting weaker
otos-muhold12 June 2022
This part is already a shame. The writers have completely ruined this unfortunate, childish, and unbelievable lawyer revenge theme to be devastated. This is a huge mistake in the series. Hamlin was originally not a sympathetic character at all, but is now 10 times more sympathetic than Saul or Wexler. It was a shame to force this theme, to completely ruin the film with it.

This show is soo amazing !
jkg233 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Expected change of pace in this episode, since they have 13 overall, and it's still an absolute pleasure to watch this. Finally, more of Jimmy who's going full Heisenberg here, no looking back just straight forward to becoming Saul. I'd say that Jimmy is dead, and Saul is the only one left at this point. The Criminal Laywer is here !

A lot of references to Breaking Bad, nice interactions we've never seen before (like Mike and Kim's). Just top notch TV, doesn't get better than that, and it doesn't need crazy pacing to be that.

We're probably seeing one of the best, if not the best, seasons of TV ever so let's enjoy it !

One of my favorite episodes yet
tripcsmith3 May 2022
Can't believe this was directed by Rhea Seehorn. This was one of the best episodes of tv I've seen in a while. The editing was amazing, with a great gag of the score and Howard's music in combat. The performances were great. It's unfortunate that part of the plot was leaked but it was a rollercoaster nonetheless.

Turn up the heat
cuddlesatusc3 May 2022
Things are starting to get a bit tense for Jimmy and the crew. Kim is finding out more about the cartel world, Gus is as tense as ever, and Jimmy is starting to become affiliated with the Salamanca headline. Another great episode that brings the worlds of the cartel and the law together. Every character seems to have their own stances and interactions of paranoia. Again the filmmaking is pronto, with directing from Rhea Seehorn herself. What she seems to have an eye for is knowing when to pull out shots and how to frame the same shot but in a different way, splicing in between some uncanny movement that evokes the anxiety heavy tone of this hour. Part 1 is looking scary for the crew.

This might be one of the greatest starts to a televison season ever!
lovemichaeljordan3 May 2022
Incredible episode with beautiful cinematography! Great acting and directing from Rhea Seehorn. She showed all emotions possible in this episode. I believe most viewers are very anxious about her future.

Very interesting to see the behind the scenes of Gus' operation. He is a true professional unlike W. W who let his pride and ego ruin him. Gus is a criminal mastermind. It's very interesting to see how he's clearly afraid of Lalo and to see how he handles the situation. I can't wait to see what Lalo's next move is!

One Step Closer
MamadNobari973 May 2022
This episode moves Jimmy one step closer to becoming Saul Goodman with his new clients and most importantly with the last scene of the episode. The scene with him at the courthouse is also great but kinda sad at the same time, and makes you wonder what his relationship with this people is gonna be or is he gonna completely leave that place and become a full-time criminal lawyer.

This was a nice change of pace as it was calmer than the breathtaking and heart-racing last two episodes, but it still had its intense scenes with Kim and what she had to deal with in this episode.

The opening of the episode with the two bikers is a great sequence that leads to a brilliant twist and scene with a particular character that I'm not gonna spoil, but it's probably not a big deal and not even a twist for people who remember from previous seasons and also Breaking Bad better than I do, or people who saw the twist coming from a mile away. But personally, it was a twist nonetheless and we actually got more lore from this character.

We also have the first act where Saul continues on sabotaging the poor Howard's reputation and it's simultaneously funny, brilliant and a little edge of your seat at the end just like the gold club locker room scene in the first episode of this season. And they also bring back another old character from Breaking Bad, that I only remembered who she was when they dropped her off at her motel house thingy. I don't know if she was already in Better Call Saul or not, but I don't remember her being in previous seasons.

I also thought that I saw NoHo Hank in the middle of the episode and it was obviously not him, but it was weird how similar he looked to Hank and how many people look like him. Also, add another bald guy to the Breaking Bad universe's list of bald guys!

Overall, it's a more tame episode compared to the two previous ones and gives us a better look inside the life of the mentioned character, and also pushing Jimmy to become Saul. Although I feel like Kim is becoming more Saul than Jimmy himself considering what happened to her in this episode and the fact that she kept it from Jimmy. So far, this Saul doesn't seem like the Saul we know from Breaking Bad and I feel like something really drastic and big is gonna happen to his relationship with her or to Kim herself to bring him on the verge of it, but we shall wait and see.

Tension building at its finest
ramo1403 May 2022
I don't get the complaints about slowness at all or the episode being boring . Are people expecting fireworks every episode? This is not a movie nor a 4 Hr Marvel miniseries. This episode sets up the tension for what's to come and makes us even more afraid of one of the characters that will be returning as we watch our favourite characters tossing and turning dreading their return as well.

Good story building episode

First off, all these people complaining about early reviews.... just stop reading the reviews!?

This was a great story building episode, setting the stage for what lies ahead. I have the feeling that this season will not disappoint.

I also love that despite of so many important things going on in the show, they keep Jimmy on top. Specially his conmanship. Not a lot happened but still a great episode!

Slow But OK
ecatalan984 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After last week's episode, anything after that would look rather tame and it does. With "Hit And Run", Better Call Saul goes back to its season 3 or 4 atmosphere. It adds very little to the series, save from seeing Gustavo Fring's real dwelling space and Kim meeting face to face with Mike for the first time.

Better Call Saul is a really good show, but let's set the record straight: it's no "Breaking Bad". Saul Goodman's backstory could've easily been told in 5 seasons, not six, just like "Breaking Bad". The show really picked up massive steam during season 5, which at the time I had read somewhere it was going to be the last season.

Although we're still early on in season 6, the story has to get rid off Kim Wexler and Howard Hamlin and Lalo Salamanca, none of which appear in "Breaking Bad", considering this is a direct prequel to that iconic show.

I'm sure Vince Gilligan and team will end this show in a satisfactory way, but throwing in "filler" episodes like this one, he better have something really awesome for the finale.

We needed this after the last episode
coreydoctormcnulty3 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A nice breather episode after last week's insanity. It works perfectly, setting up the continuation of Jimmy and Kim's story, especially with how Jimmy starts more directly on the path to becoming Saul. We see what Gus and Mike are up to trying to track Lalo and we still have this nagging question of where Lalo is and what is next move is. Overall a wonderful setup episode for some inevitable perfect payoff later on.
