GRAPHIC
flightsofbirds25 February 2022
It captured a lot of incredible moments, but... I did NOT need to see a wolf starve to death, nor one getting torn apart alive! If I had known this documentary was so graphic, I would have skipped it. Why do you not have a graphic content warning at the beginning?! Thanks for the traumatic experience.

Captures moments unseen on screen before

I have seen a lot of wolves documentaries, but this series captures some rare scenes. Pure gold content for the whole run time.

Beautiful creatures

Wolves are beautiful, intelligent creatures loyal and protective of their own. Just like humans. It's amazing to see their struggles and reliance to feed themselves and their own. Nature is nature, we should not meddle in what's their circle of life. Great documentary.

Warning: graphic and barbaric contents

Warning: Spoilers
I did not expect any of these really lengthy and graphic details of pups being brutally killed by the other pack of wolves; of a beautiful female wolf died from illness and malnutrition; of a wolf being mauled by other wolves and left to die. Even 5 minutes before the end of the video, I had to worry if a male muskox was going to crash pups (I felt very manipulated by the way the film was edited and narrated). Those are factual information that are important to learn, but the way they are delivered is completely and unnecessarily traumatizing (for example, you DONT have to amplify the crunching sounds when adult wolves bit and crushed pups' skulls).

It could have been magnificent...

This documentary was too graphic to be enjoyable. I have no issue with seeing the realities of nature, of animals hunting one another or of death. However, there was something sadistic about the way the scenes lingered on wolves being killed, wolves in the process of dying or in showing their dead bodies, especially when both adults and wolf pups were portrayed in this way.

There were some good parts, especially seeing the other animals in the Arctic environment, but the good did not outweigh the bad. As a result I would not recommend this film. The creators should consider shifting into horror movies where their skills would be better received.

Don't watch if you're sensitive to graphic content.

While I appreciate that nature is nature and documentaries need to include this, some of the content in this film is extremely graphic and did not need to be put in. They did not need to include an entire clip of a wolf getting mauled by another wolf pack and being left to die gasping for air. I've been in tears half the night because of how barbaric and visceral that scene was, and I don't know if I'll ever get it out of my mind. Also when a wolf found another wolfs cubs and they included the crunching of the wolf eating its skull while killing it. This seemed too much for shock value and was NOT needed. Because of this my review is 5 stars. Otherwise would have been a great documentary. But this is not the type of thing people want to see when learning about different animals. Put bloody spoiler warnings at least, Jesus Christ.

cut out the barbaric scenes

I think wolves are beautiful but the scenes with the wolf being mauled and shreaded to pieces made me cry. Wtf is wrong w/you putting that in a documentary? Brutal scene the poor wolf was on his way leaving you stating he's paying the price. I can't believe you showed this whole clip on that. This scene bothered me more than hearing the crunching on the pups skill while killing them. Only giving you 2/10 for your poor taste of graphicness.
