Shades of season one.

Suspenseful tension, great cast, great writing and dark dialogue. All of which made the first season what it was, leaving the audience thrilled and wanting more. Can't wait for the conclusion of this season!

Really enjoying how this is told in 3 separate times. It fits in so well and the storyline is relative to the time. It really has shades of Johnny Gosch and a little of the West Memphis Three In for good measure. Excellent, moody music and great cast. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Good and involving season so far

Greetings from Lithuania.

"Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye", the second episode of "True Detective" was involving and just very well made. I love the acting by lead Mahershala Ali - he is terrific in here playing the same character in 3 different periods of his life. Or maybe he is not really that same as we can see at the end of this episode.

Overall, with only 2 episodes in this season and i can safely say - this season is already has better and more simplistic story then the convoluted season 2. I really looking forward to see what next.

Incredibly

We waited for a long time, and we greeted the epic sequel with. Simply by selecting actors, to the whole team behind the camera, everything is perfect (for now). It is expected from aHBO

Passed very fast compared to a section without much action it may be because of the quality of the series or the performances of the players in short the new season is going so good it will continue this way

Indeed in manner of first season, or first story, rather ?

As many others, I did not like season 2, which was for sure not success. Actually, I did not watch any crime serial in last years - seen already too much of them. There are other things in life, and even in TV serials than crime, detectives ... Did not watch HBO and their serials at all after very disappointing Westworld. And then suddenly, there is season 3 of this. Although, here that may confusing a bit - not really new season, but rather new story, actors, place .

What is same is a dedicated detective, 2 of them - but main hero is more dedicated, clearly. There is a love story, cleverly combined with investigation. And with great acting, dialogs it just gives to watchers hungry for something serious, realistic what they need. Yes, I said 'need' instead 'want' .

Highly recommended. Of course not to everyone. Those wanting lot of 'action', shooting, chasing, sex, violence, some superhero, superskilled detectives will not enjoy this. But they have a lot of it on table.

Pining like a bad rash

The third layer doesn't add, it detracts. Case then, reinvestigation later and finally the modern day emontional mess of boredom. Unless there's going to be a big pay off where the senile cop gone and done it. It's just pushing out a narrative and this isn't that show. I'd rather watch a dedicated crime show without the pretentious drama/dementia and make up. Where it's simply trying to usurp a nom. By trying to program the auidence into some other pretenses (diversity, disability, denial). Who cares? It's slow, terribly slow, a snoozefest, and that third layer has killed it. It doesn't compare to the first season. They didn't infect it full of you tell me? While sapping your emotions, missing kids, injecting diversity and layering disability. What happen to plain casework, the casestudy and the crime. And all the witty dialogue. I didn't like season 2 as much, it was paced and flawed, but better than this. This season has simply go back to the season 1 model and thought lets put disability and diversity in, and make it?

Forget it!!!!

I liked it but

Were you a LRP, a Tracker or a Tunnel Rat? A LRP might have gone in a tunnel b ut he's awfully big for that. A LRP did track people but a Tracker used dogs.

Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye

Warning: Spoilers
The writing and pacing is still at an elite level, but we're way too early in the run to already give us a boring episode.

I think this storyline has potential, but this did not do much for me tonight.

Another decent episode. The pace is very slow at the moment but this show in general is a slow burner and it kinda needs to be. It's still engaging and we're at the early stage of investigation where leads need to be established. One of the things I like about this season is that it really feels like season one. I didn't get that with season two which felt almost like a completely different show, but this season has recaptured that gritty, twisted aura. I'm liking these characters more as we continue to get to know them, especially the two main detectives. I'm not sure the show will ever be able to recreate a duo like Rust and Marty but I think we definitely have a solid pairing here. I'd definitely like to see more of the darker side to them, which we got a first glimpse at when they attacked the suspect. The episode opened up a lot of questions which I'm very interested to know the answers too. The ending was very strange and confusing but I'm liking all the mystery surrounding the plot and how that mystery is present in all three timelines we're following. Hopefully the season gets better as it goes

Episode 2 and i almost fell asleep.

That shouldn't be happening so early on.

Only vince gilligan gets to string you along bc he'll pay it off and make you interested in someone highlighting paper. Whoever is the writer/director or whatever of this doesn't have that.

I'm not in the industry...but I know what I like and I know what I don't like. Do they realize how slow moving and boring and unengaging things are when they're writing them or acting/filming them?

Does that even enter into the equation?

After a solid intro episode that was focused in direction and story, this episode went off track and gave way into pointless racial PC dialogue
dressedkill19 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The first episode was so great and knew exactly what it was and I honestly was pleasantly surprised that it strayed away from my initial fear of racial influences/undertones with Ali on board. Well this episode of course completely threw all Sorts of unfortunate racially charged propaganda and unnecessary aspects of dialogue to do with supposed racism. It took away from the momentum of the story itself and the show is already loosing direction and consistency because you know they're going to shove this racism sub plot down our throats the rest of the season and most likely do whatever they can to demonize white people. I'm sure the killers and kidnappers will be KKK. It's a huge shame that we can't get solid programming and writing without this leftist race baiting agenda.

Racist?
tureluur-991709 October 2021
For the first one and a half episode of series 3 I thought both Wayne and Roland were reasonable characters. But all of a sudden they take an innocent man somewhere to beat him up secretly and threaten him. Why didn't they question him at the police station? They would have found out he was innocent and should have left him alone. Moreover, he accused them of treating him badly bc he was white. Therefore, Wayne considered him a racist. Huh??? So accusing someone of racist behaviour means you are a racist yourself??? What stupid reasoning, saying a lot about how distorted all this has become.

And I don't know yet, but I GUARANTEE that the eventual killer is white.
