Crawl (2019)
An excellent creature feature throwback that has plenty of thrills, and plenty of teeth in its big bite.
There's just something insanely fun about these summer creature features. It's always seemed to be a thing as we've had so many great films like; Jaws,Jurassic Park, Arachnophobia, and even ridiculous yet fun films like, Congo, Lake Placid, Piranha 3d. This time around we have a film centered around people surviving a hurricane as well as vicious alligators.
Director Alexander Aja knows how to set up some real tension, and after all he directed "High Tension", as well as the insanely great hills have eyes remake, and piranha 3d. The guy knows how to be brutal and bloody too at the right times. This all translates extremely well with Crawl. The plot is pretty simplistic and better off for it and lets us focus on the thrills of claustrophobic atmosphere with blood thirsty alligators closing in. Both actors thrive in their surroundings and give some nice performances. The camerawork above and underwater is magnificently executed and the alligator's look absolutely genuine and frightening. There are so many moments that come out of nowhere and shock the audience to where it doesn't feel derivative for the genre. Overall it's another entry into the creature feature genre that is on the solid side instead of the ridiculous side.
Midsommar (2019)
Yet another pretentious and smug pseudo artsy a24 dull drama sold as a horror film.
To top it off Ari Aster ripped off a Swedish film in 2003 of the same name and plot. Hereditary was incoherent nonsense and a boring drama. This is somehow even more contrived and moves and operates like an amateur effort with some ridiculous attempts at nuance and undertones that fail Completely. But now all of the hipsters will follow critics blindly and label it as masterful and claim people with an opposing opinion missed the point and are too unintelligent to grasp its "intricate brilliance" like they claimed with hereditary. Pure and utter drivel.

Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
The second uninspired and mediocre gen z/millennial spidey film is even worse somehow than the first embarrassment.
What they're doing to Peter Parker/Spidey is pure blasphemy to the comic with this new Holland era. First of all tom Holland is just the worst Spider-Man so far with his annoying and abhorrent acting. Second of all they once agian make sure to JAM PC nonsense all over the place for no reason. Third of all the humor just doesn't work at all!! Why did the MCU become so watered down with forced jokes that just do not fly?!?! It's so pathetic. I feel bad that an actor with clout like Jake G would have to submit to this role as he was the only standout but they also butchered the character of Mysterio like the did with Shocker and Vulture in homecoming. I'll just focus on Venom and forget about this new terrible era of spidey....
Pet Sematary (2019)
Contrary to the mediocre trailers, this is a solid remake that nails the adaptation of King's original story, and seeps and drips with brutal bleakness.
I was lucky enough to check this out at an advance screening and was very surprised after not really thinking the trailers looked that great. I've always loved the original and have thought it has stood the test of time, but this new film executes the original story concept very well if not even better, with only a couple big changes. The dark and tragic tone is set from the start and never lets up throughout. There are some moments and scares that do follow modern horror cliches, but there are definitely some that are built up by magnificent ominous atmosphere. Jason Clarke once again shows he's an underrated actor that has some genuine humanity and emotion in his performance. John Lithgow is also very solid as well as Amy Seimitz. The camerawork is very crisply shot and creative and creates some fantastic visuals of the haunting wilderness settings. There are some moments towards the end that seemed rushed, but overall this is another great new age horror remake that honestly deserves loads of credit for following subject matter properly.
Us (2019)
Another overhyped and overrated extremely dull agenda filled cliche mess from the deranged Peele.
So here we are again in the same scenario. Jordan Peele spits out a mediocre trope filled film, chock full of biased race baiting agendas, and the leftist "critics" of hollywood eat it up like a buttery mega tub of buttery popcorn. We have reached such a low in terms of what's hailed in critical acclaim these days when it has to fit this same old formula of supposed politically "correct" themes of the left. Objectivity and logic are thrown out the window in an effort to overcompensate based on these particular agendas. The carbon copy deluded "critics" give their rave reviews of cliche genre formulaic borefests like Get Out and Us in fear of ridicule if they go against the grain with a truthful review. Thats where we are now. Don't listen to the critics or all the hype created by social trending media, this film is blend of the strangers and body snatchers and has nothing original in it and is the epitome of mediocrity.
Captive State (2019)
A visually well put together film with a political message that is truly unnecessary and borders on leftist propaganda from Hollywood once again.
Why does every new film have to have this massive political influence, let alone a biased one at that. It's like leftist Hollywood wants to try brainwash the naive through their undertones and messages through these new films . Clearly this was aimed at a particular demographic and the dialogue and events definitely are delivered for that certain demographic . The film itself has a good pace and visual execution but is constantly lost in the overbearing PC nonsense . John Goodman is always spectacular and shows he still a great actor and the visual effects are pretty well put together . Overall it's definitely a solid film to watch but the dialogue and the message is so cliché and unnecessary at this point and bogged the movie down incredibly . Had it been just a survival story of these people going up against the aliens it could've worked on a much more simplistic level without all of the political undertones .
True Detective: Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (2019)
After a solid intro episode that was focused in direction and story, this episode went off track and gave way into pointless racial PC dialogue
The first episode was so great and knew exactly what it was and I honestly was pleasantly surprised that it strayed away from my initial fear of racial influences/undertones with Ali on board. Well this episode of course completely threw all Sorts of unfortunate racially charged propaganda and unnecessary aspects of dialogue to do with supposed racism. It took away from the momentum of the story itself and the show is already loosing direction and consistency because you know they're going to shove this racism sub plot down our throats the rest of the season and most likely do whatever they can to demonize white people. I'm sure the killers and kidnappers will be KKK. It's a huge shame that we can't get solid programming and writing without this leftist race baiting agenda.
Bird Box (2018)
A blatant ripoff of M. Night's 2008 "The Happening" with a strong female lead released on Netflix a decade later.
This is a blatant "The Happening" ripoff. The author that wrote the book thisnis based off of also ripped of The Happening. Can't believe people don't realize that and that Netflix was sleezy and desperate enough for filler content they let this pass for the simpletons to enjoy. . Somehow because it's released on Netflix starring a strong female lead, instead of the decade ago it was released in theatres from the great M Night, it's somehow more well received? People make absolutely no sense. While quality wise it's easily the same mediocre caliber as the film it tried to be, there are some decent moments of atmosphere and intensity. Then it's all deflated almost every time when there is never anything to see as far as the creatures or things causing these moments of insanity in humans. The whole "it's scarier if you don't see it" Defense has to be the dumbest and delusional thing that I always see. Either way this a mediocre film that's somehow getting praise by taking a story from M Night Shimalyan.
The Possession of Hannah Grace (2018)
The Possession of formulaic and cliche horror tropes in the 199th Possession/Exorcism film released since the iconic classic in 1973.
It's honestly a slap in the face to viewers that they would continue releasing the same old possession horror film with nothing new brought to the table year after year. I guess some people will constantly fall for the same old formula. I only saw this free for reviewing purposes for my university and Im glad it wasn't my money. This film starts out having every predictable cliche trope you can imagine, and the story is skin and bone with mediocre acting throughout. I will say the camerawork and lighting was actually executed quite well, as well as the SFX. But for the majority of the film, you can see everything that will happen before it does because you've seen it before.
Venom (2018)
Slandered and sabotaged by idiots and "critics" just barcause it's not part of the overrated MCU and doesn't have a millennial Spider-Man.
So because this isn't officially part of the overrated Marvel cinematic universe and is a spin off with its own identity not including the new terrible millennial Spiderman played by Tom Holland, critics and people are bashing it beyond belief not giving it a chance at all. In the end it's going to be better off without the MCU formula being forced down everyone's throat with her tired themes and tropes. Eddie Brock's/venom's Symbiote story is a very intriguing one that doesn't necessarily need Spiderman to succeed and I think this will prove a lot of people wrong and stupid for doubting it. Also the critics...don't even get me started on how terrible and pretentious these loony critics are where they dismantle every film that does not fit their liberal PC propaganda. The fact that there are so many sheep that will blindly follow these mindless cretins and let them dictate whether not they enjoy or see a movie R just sad human beings without any free thinking ability . Most people look at credit scores and reviews and already have their pre-determined opinions made up to go see the movie and then bash it directly after finding abhorrently stupid excuses as to why they hated it . Just go see the film for yourself because it looks to break away from the tired MCU formula .
