On my short-list of all-time favorite Christmas movies!
StorieLuver3 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This new Mickey Mouse special has quickly become one of my favorite Christmas movies. I saw it last year when it premiered and couldn't wait for it to be back this year! Two things about it especially make it great:

1) The references to old-school classics: it starts with a Bing Crosby-style opening song including Mickey dressed as the crooner, then there is a flashback to a Dickensian-style Victorian era Christmas, and even a musical number that would do Danny Kaye proud!

2) The message: ANYONE can celebrate Christmas! While I can appreciate "Charlie Brown Christmas," I have always found the end with Linus's big speech overly preachy and limiting the holiday strictly to Christians (which is why "Great Pumpkin" will always outrank "Christmas" in my book). This Disney special doesn't force a religious aspect (in fact, the only religious scene is a brief parody? homage? of the Nativity scene with Donald as the baby in the manger, which I suppose some Christians might even find offensive). By keeping Christmas strictly in the realm of a season to spend time with friends and family and celebrating with decorations, baked goods and gifts, it promotes the secular version of the holiday that anyone, including ducks who have to migrate to warm southern climates, can partake in.

Awesome Christmas Special
madzooted25 March 2017
Disney has resurrected the Mickey Mouse Cartoon franchise with this series. I really enjoy the animation style, it has a retro look to it, but with a sharp modern twist to it. The character are wonderful and true to Disney Universe. The voice actors did a terrific job on this series, keeping true to the original characters. My only complaint about this series is the episode length. They are all very short and under five minutes, the only exception being the Christmas special.

The Christmas special is something else, it hits the heart in all the right places. It has a nice message behind it with a wonderfully comedic story to follow. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about, if you check the rest of his reviews he just rates everything a 1, so please don't listen to him. Give this episode and this series a chance, it's really something special.

Funny and Heartfelt

Warning: Spoilers
I LOVE this Christmas special. I just found it this year and have watched it at least 5 times. What makes it SO special? Everyone loves Donald. So often he is the butt of every joke, his pain and health ignored for the joke. But in this one, everyone loves Donald. They miss him when he's not there with either group, they NOTICE when he's not well, and they do everything they can to help him. His happiness, health, and joy, are everyone's priority. It was great seeing everyone love him. And, it was really fun seeing everyone else in his Duck family realize how much they miss him and how much fun he brings. And, finally, living in a warmer area myself, the message that a tropical, warm Christmas is still Christmas was really cute.

Painfully Bad
Man992041 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Walt Disney is turning over in his grave -- at the disrespect his iconic characters are shown in this latest in carnation of Mickey Mouse. The basic animation is so painfully bad, so incredibly "Not Disney Quality" is is hard to watch.

The Disney organization has always been very careful to treat its most iconic characters with respect. Not so in this horrid "Anime Version" of a Mickey Mouse Cartoon. The animation looks like it was done in a North Korean Sweatshop -- by people who have never seen seen a Disney animation.

Pass on this stinkeroo -- you will be glad you did.....

Excruciatingly painful to watch

Excruciatingly painful to watch..... There is a reason why Disney improved on their Caricatures. Reverting back to the old Disney characters was a horrible move.

Not for kids!
twvrtjxd10 August 2023
This looks more like Ren and stimpy's Christmas not Mickey Mouse. It's creepy. Horrible stuff happens to Donald and it's morbid and full of mentions of death. How is this a Christmas special rated G? It definitely for older kids. But do older kids still watch Mickey Mouse? I'm not sure who this movie is for? Maybe adults who miss Adult Swim and want something Nostalgic. Don't watch this with your 5 year old unless you want them to have nightmares. At one point Donald's beak falls off and he has to duck tape it on so no one knows he's falling apart. It's horrific. I'm mildly traumatized and want these pictures out of my head.

Awful.. no Christmas spirit!
nataliemarin-1983930 November 2023
This was awful! I sat to watch it with my toddlers and quickly regretted it. The animation was bad and the story even worse. It did not entertain them in the least. I agree with the comment that says it's more like Ren & Stimpy than Mickey Mouse. Absolutely not for young kids; mentions death and killing. Visuals of Donald are ugly and hard to watch! My kids walked away and I can't blame there. I couldn't finish it either. I love the classics and the idea of reimagining them sounds great in theory but this isn't it. If you're looking for something pleasant to watch with your kids to put you in the holiday spirit., DO NOT WATCH THIS.
