An Average Vacation Episode,
lesleyharris3020 February 2017
The Town is a good Simpsons episode with a reasonably well written plot and plenty of very funny scenes. It's enjoyable, as we see the family go to Boston, there are plenty of great gags throughout that made the episode. There are also some stellar guest cameos, such as Bill Burr, Michael Chiklis and Rachel Dratch, who add a lot of fun to the show.

As far as vacation episodes of the Simpsons go, I was underwhelmed. I expected more from one where they travel beyond Springfield, I was hoping for more of an adventure, such as the ones where they go to Tokyo and Brazil, but this was a lot more character driven.

Some scenes can definitely be rendered as offensive for Boston residents. The whole idea of Homer going their for a "hate-cation" is a little insensitive and the entire voice cast do their best accent for various characters throughout. There is nothing too un-PC here, but I could see some people getting upset by it.

It is nicely executed, but it left me a little underwhelmed. Certainly nothing stellar, The Town is still a very enjoyable Simpsons with plenty of laughs.

Homer takes the family to Boston to prove to Bart that the city is not worth supporting.

Warning: Spoilers
It may be a coincidence, but the New England Patriots (NFL team representing Boston and the New England region) eventually won Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons. More or so, Super Bowl LI was dubbed as "28-3", as a joke or reference to the Patriots' comeback against the Falcons.

Very poor episode....

This episode just sums up everything I do not like about modern Simpsons episodes. Dull uninspired writing and weak character moments.

The basic premise of the episode is a pretty low one and just seems to me to be an unnecessarily negative viewpoint, what has Boston done to offend thee so much?

Homer is just pretty much his overtly jerk like self throughout the episode, another massive peeve of mine in regards to modern Simpsons. Homer was always a bit of a thoughtless tool at times but he did have heart and was less intentional with his less than thought out plans of action but imo modern Simpsons just made him grossly unlikeable as they did with most of the characters.

This is just a pretty lame episode overall.
