Funny but rough around the edges
jhoffele16 August 2016
This film has some very funny moments! Despite strong performances by Evan Hall and Dylan Walsh, the acting can be a little tiring. The content of the film is topical and is sadly probably not that far fetched. The focus on sexuality is a little off-putting as well. Terrible musical score. If you're a fan of politics and okay with often crude comedy, check it out. The story takes some time to get going when Guy Poppet's character tries to fix Washington's corrupt political machine. My favourite part was when a politician was asked if he gave a woman an STD he replied, "I did not send flowers to anyone". The budget was probably limited as apparent from characters always came to the main character's small room. Also, lighting and dialogue was not very refined.

Shows Washington's hypocrisy, with a side of romance
abhishek-trins17 August 2016
C Street is a satirical look at the side of Washington most people don't think about. If it refers to any real life figures the references escaped me, but the portrayal of politicians and their hypocrisy is well laid out and there is enough satire here to keep you entertained for its duration. The romance side story feels a little tacked on and some comedic scenes linger past the punchline, but all in all it's worth a watch.

C Street is definitely worth a watch if only for the ridiculous things its caricatures say with the straightest of faces, and for the portrayal of the media in way that is sure to make you giggle.

An okay film
lrosendecker13 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I would say this an okay film. Two words that come to mind is cheesy and cartoon. The cheesy parts are when things happen in the film for comedy that is not plausible to happen in real life. The cartoon part is where they have those "congressional coke head" superman comic book type of titles that come into the movie. Overall, I was able to follow it to the end. I would recommend to folks who like cheesy comedies. Not the best, not the worst. I would most definitely give it a watch. Also, when watching, don't judge it too harshly. It seems like a small budget film and I don't recognize a lot of the actors/actresses. With that said, I give a pat on the back for giving it their best shot.

Vote No!
dodecaRyan12 November 2021
Much like politics in America, the ratings on this movie are split. Don't be duped, vote no on this "comedy". Even if you try to watch it ironically like I did, vote no.

I had to make a review because this movie doesn't deserve the 6.1/10 rating it had when I watched it. I think the positive user reviews for this film have skewed those results. Strangle most of the positive reviewers only have 1 review.

2/10 because I did laugh a couple times, but mostly because I had fun with friends talking about the other things we could be doing instead.

Bad comedy
lrichenglish12 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Have to be honest, it was gag me with a spoon type of comedy. There is a difference between gag me with a spoon and good funny funny and unfortunately this movie was the former. When two police officers come to your door they don't just all of the sudden appear in your home and then you fight over whose going to take the "flour/sugar" down the street. No cop would be playing tug of war with a citizen. Comedy is good providing that its natural. Also, I don't get the whole story line. What is this supposed to be about? I know its political. Maybe its my age is the reason why I'm not getting some references. It was just bad. Sorry, just my opinion

An insight into the buffoons that run our country
nitesnwite14 August 2016
The movie C Street begins with a rousing patriotic march, richly filmed in beautiful Virginia, and immediately takes us to Senior staffer Guy Poppet diligently working the reelection campaign of amicable Senator Cash Fallon. The good senator stakes his reputation on a new Healthcare bill and Poppet's continuing employment depends upon getting the senator elected and bill passed. Likable but lecherous Senator Fallon circles from scandal to scandal, each involving funny but hypocritical politicians that put Poppet in dicey situations, where success, even survival, seems futile.

After 49 minutes the story finally takes off to test Guy Poppet's character as he struggles to navigate Washington's corrupt political machine. Funny but larger than life characters are developed and followed to their logical conclusion. When a politician was asked if he gave a woman STD he replied, "I did not send flowers to anyone".

Brett E Lewis shows how to do political satire.
plwimsett17 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
In the world of Trump and Clinton it is hard to come with an original satire but the occupants of 98 C Street (surprisingly small number?) in Downton Washington DC show you how, whether they are hiding drugs or getting rid of sex-crazed senators. Magnolia and Guy (played by Carey Lowell, who was Jamie Ross in Law and Order, and Evan Hall) are a lovely couple so you want them to end up together, even if their starting point is hardly conventional. Watch out for the old girl, Mrs Plumbcott, the nosy neighbour. She is played by Sondra James.

Certainly a good film for anyone who likes their farces fruity!

Note: Lewis has also written and produced a film called "High Maintenance" which I look forward in watching.

Sick of all the commercials casting doom and gloom on this and that politician. I mean really...this movie couldn't come at a greater time. Yes, its political in nature but its more of a funny movie with a lot of rambunctious humor that happens to have a political slant. I most certainly enjoyed it and recommend to others. It reminds me of the Bill Clinton and Monica scandal. And people are still talking about that even day. Its almost become a punch line when Republicans make remarks about Hillary running or becoming president. Lol this all just makes me laugh so hard. If it ever hits theaters, I would be curious to see the turnout. I bet it would be good.

I would like to recommend to my friends.

This film fits my type. I would like to watch comedies, especially the political themes. I watched the film of Carey Lowell one year ago and I like her. This 86 min's film is really good. I like the main actress, for she looks so hot and the guy tried to win the girl of his dreams. That is his effort and I like what he has done. After all, the film is so hysterical and satire that the girl, the guy and his boss all appear in this apartment. There are some sexual contents which could help show the theme and I think many people would like this scenes. Now there is the political campaign around the country, and this film just chooses the right time to launch. I would like to recommend to my friends.

A must watch
bacjoee17 August 2016
C street is a very beautiful movie. I enjoyed every bit of it. One good thing about this movie is that it's so relateable to many real life political stories. I also like the love twist being used to tell the story which makes it different from other political movies I have seen, which are largely so serious. This movie passes the message across using laughter as it medium and keeps the attention of the audience to every detail. This is the first Peter James Iengo movie I would be seeing and I look forward to more! Overall, this is a great movie, a mix of everything; politics, comedy and romance. It's a must watch movie. Great job guys!!!

Laughing At Hypocritics
btflatt17 August 2016
I am a political junkie. I live in Washington, D.C. Never worked on the Hill. Know many whom have. Recognized the usual suspects this flick satirizes. The satire is brutal, truthful, a full body slam at the hypocrisy on the Hill. The focus is on the most hypocritical: The flag lapel wearing -- (Not that there's anything wrong with wearing a flag lapel ) - The flag undershorts wearing -- (Well, what a man wears under his pants, even if he's a politician, is his own business) - The Red Staters. (Well, somebody's gotta represent those folks.) Some in the era of Donald Trump might accuse the producers of piling on the pain. Others might excuse them. The flick depicts "conservative" politicians, the hypocritical ones, as selfish egotistical sex maniacs.

And the flick is a boy meets girl. Boy looses girl. Boy gets girl story. And it's a retelling / updated / 21 century take on the 1960 Billy Wilder's flick, "The Apartment." Here, the boy, a member of a powerful U.S. Senator's staff, uses his D.C. apartment as a place where high powered politicians can entertain hookers and hos, and do the dirty, whether its whoring or snorting coke. Also as the result of a devious act by a character, whose identity I won't disclosed in this review, many of the boy's high-power clients and their "hos" show up at the apartment at the same time to use the facilities. And what follows is a wild and zany, comedic sequence that is purely Marx Brothers-ish.

There's slapstick, and many funny lines. It's an enjoyable flick, for folks whom enjoy laughing at the foibles of the powerful.

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie with my 21 year old son and 18 year old daughter and it was a hoot. We really enjoyed all the inside jokes and we are passionate about supporting small budget films. In fact, we have gone to screenings and gala of small films in the past. Filled with a perfect mixture of romance and comedy while also mixing in a few good lessons along the way. My husband wasn't as big of a fan but knowing him this is to be expected. He's more old school but I guess opposites attract! For more liberal folks out there, I view this as a great watch! It would be interesting if they did a prequel that followed Guys life before working for Fallon.

I enjoyed watching this with my son. My husband passed away a couple months ago and our lives have been filled with melancholy and turmoil. For a short while, we were able to have some laughs and separate ourselves from the pain that's in our lives. We enjoyed Manboy very much and the antics in Guys apartment. I think my.son appreciated the lovely lady and I was able to get a lot of the political humor. My son is not very into politics but I am. I would totally recommend to all looking for a funny film to watch. However, I would say this is strictly for folks who are 18 or over. Its a little too inappropriate for teens.
