Let Down
Marblevillain18 December 2022
I've never written a review on here but I really wanted to now because I just feel let down by where the series has been going. Really not sure what's up with the writing but it feels lazy and repetitive. I get that a show needs drama but there's gotta be more creative ways to create conflict than just cheating and lying or having disproportionate meltdowns.

Why do we have to keep watching Shane do the same thing after 15 years? It's frustrating and tiresome. The conversation with Shane and Tess reminded me of Shane and Carmen's conversation when Carmen said her reason for cheating was psychotic. After so long, there just doesn't feel like anything redeeming about the character and the self sabotaging and constantly hurting others is icky on it's own but more so when someone's in their 40's.

I really wanted this season to be better but this isn't it. With story lines being cut off like Carrie, Nat and Gigi or just moving on so quickly like Dani being cool with Finn now, I'm just a little confused about how I'm supposed to feel or who I'm supposed to be rooting for. Micah and Maribel are doing their own thing which is cute and wholesome if not a little mundane but at this point, the only people I care about seeing are Alice and Angie. Although I'm not sure why Angie's storyline is being portrayed as happy and bubbly when she's in a relationship with someone in charge of her education. That's a whole other issue and it's making me feel like I'm crazy to not like it. Maybe I have a stick up my butt or maybe it'll be addressed later but it just feels off and weird that it's not even being acknowledged as problematic.

I've been sticking around because I'm hoping things get better but if it keeps going this way, I'm afraid that series isn't going to make it to another season. I hope it can be figured out for the fans who are in need of good queer content and even for the actors who are so talented and also deserve more too.

What was that?

I don't know what I've just watched but I wish I could turn back the clock and no bother.

Props to the actors for doing the best they can with what they've been given but this show is a hot mess. No interesting storylines, zero characters or relationships to root for, poor writing...I could go on.

I've not been excited for the episodes like like was in the first two seasons and I know a lot of people feel the same way. I think it's safe to say that I won't be watching the rest of the season. If this show is to get a season 4, it needs some serious changes (and Sepideh Moafi to come back)!!!!

Disgusted in Every Way

This is one of the worst things I've ever watched on TV. First you break up the ONLY couple in the Gen Q the overwhelming majority of fans care about (GINI) remove the most popular actress on the show (Sepidah Moafi) w ZERO explanation, then force all these boring uninteresting storylines that almost no one cares about to feed egos and check identity boxes. News flash - the show is about the fans. If you do not have viewers and support you don't have a show. Thousands have cancelled their Showtime subscriptions and stopped streaming, myself included. I will never watch or support anything w Marja Lewis Ryan's name attached to it again.

To Paramount +, PLEASE do not cancel this show. If fans didn't care we would not be so outraged and angry. Look at social media- we love this show but hate its current leadership. PLEASE hire a NEW showrunner with common sense, a working brain, creativity and thought who is actually tuned in to the lesbian community, is not a coward and has success in not running a show into the ground. I know I speak for many when I say we love this show and the franchise, but it needs the leadership and writing staff of grown women who can not only write stories that actually make sense, but who understand that without the fans you don't have a show or a reputation.
