Needs some improvement
marilynndoll18 May 2020
I really want to like this show.. but it could use a few tips to make it better.. Amy's husband is great!.. He's very informative and patient, trying to explain what he's doing or answering question, but the key word is "trying," because Amy interrupts him constantly.. I guess it's supposed to be funny, but it's not, it's just annoying because I'm genuinely interested in what he's saying and he never gets to finish his sentences. He's easy to follow and listen to, so Amy please don't interrupt him. I don't care for all the sexual jokes either. I'm a fan of the food Network, I like cooking shows. I don't care for that kind of "comedy" personally. I don't think it's the right place for those jokes either, being the Food network. I thought it would be funny because she would be trying to learn and maybe make mistakes along the way, but it's not like that. Honestly I laughed out loud at a few things her husband says, I think he's hilarious.. but the interrupting and sexual jokes need to stop if I'm going to watch again. I like the food network because I like all the little tips you learn, and I watch the food network to learn, you never know what someone might say that's a good tip, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I would edit out the cardboard signs, they're not needed if you are able to give us the digital inserts. Maybe show Amy actually learning a new skill each episode. Let her do a few of the ingredients. But slow it down so the viewer can learn with you. Please also get better shots of the food and ingredients. Closer shots, and wait until it gets into focus. If you fix all those things, it could be an entertaining series of episodes. Just saying, perhaps you're already done filming all of it, but if anyone can do any of the things I said in post editing, that might make it better. Thanks for listening to my rant. I am only commenting because I really want to like it, it's just a bit shy of something truly fun to watch. I'll watch one more episode to see if it gets any better, mainly because there's not much else to watch, or I wouldn't even do that, but if it's not any better I'll have to say I'm sorry, it was a good effort and a tad funny in places, but I won't be interested.

Sweet and funny

The show was perfect to watch during Covid - light funny and normal food we could all cook. I hope there is a season 2!

Garbage

Should be called "Amy Schumer learns to privilege." Let's see, I can watch Amy Schumer play house with her professional chef husband in their remote hideout cabin (definitely not their 1st home), with her live-in nurse / maid (needed...why? Exactly? Since they're home all the time??), while she vainly yucks it up for the camera, or I can throw a hammer against a brick wall, which is about as exciting as this show.

To be fair, I did watch multiple episodes. Amy Schumer isn't "learning to cook", she shows about 30% interest at all times. A more accurate name is "Amy Schumer watches her servants (husband and maid) work."

Hard pass. Anyone peppering these reviews with "my wife and I loved it 10 stars" I would be very suspicious of.

... I was shocked by all the negative reviews!
sarahmurphy-987-67972913 August 2021
Had to leave a review because this show is no where near as bad as people are saying. Normal cooking shows bore me after awhile and feel staged. It's refreshing to see an unfiltered and authentic cooking show! Laughed out loud every episode. Amy and Chris' dynamic is fun to watch and I hope there's a second season. Don't listen to the naysayers!

Hard pass

I'm not an Amy Schumer hater. I think her stand up is usually pretty funny, but this was not funny. I felt bad for her husband. He's actually very good in front of the camera and I feel like he is probably a really good chef. We wouldn't know because she talks over him constantly in an effort to be the center of attention. The show is not really about her learning to cook, it's about her trying to be funny unfortunately at the expense of her husband. The poor guy can't get a word in edgewise. She rarely lets him complete a full sentence.

Great show, don't listen to the bad reviews
athalken2 June 2020
Don't know why people are giving this show such bad reviews. It's not suppose to be your normal cooking show. They are trying to keep things light and have a fun show for people right now with some yummy recipes. The balance of Amy and her husband works really well and they don't take themselves too seriously which is relatable and fun. Just what we need during these times, plus the food always looks amazing and I love how Chris uses what they have on had and improvises with the food.

If you're looking for a super serious cooking show then this is not the show for you. However if you're looking for a cooking show that makes you laugh and is real about life then go for it! I laughed and I learned a few things. Really that's all I'm looking for out of this show. A place to escape the pandemic reality that we are currently in. Give it a shot and enjoy it for what it is!

Don't waste your time

Jokes are bad. She can't cook. She mentions that draining a potato looks like something from a port o' potty. She doesn't listen to her husband. The kitchen tips are beyond amateur. She is rude and not funny. Foodnetwork this is a waste of money. Btw she touches her hair and is unsanitary. Do not show this on tv. What you do at home is one thing, but not when you are being paid on a huge network. Gross.

Love it!

This is a great show! If you don't like funny women, then well...you don't. But for the rest of us, this is funny. Also, just in case you don't know; Chris has autism, so his seemingly flat, literal, or questioning what Amy means are perfect from him. They are a great couple and balance each other very nicely. I also love the casual atmosphere, this is their real kitchen, not a TV set. I also read a previous review about how silly it was that Amy being 38 and can't cook. I am 59 and I can't and don't want to cook like this. I like frozen foods, bagged salads, and eating out. Give me hell if you want, but not everyone wants to cook from scratch.

Cooking show that makes me giggle
moivieFan6 December 2020
Amy Schumer is one of my favorite comedians so I could not wait to watch Amy Schumer learns to cook.

And Amy Schumber learns to cook did not disappoint my expectations. I can't remember another cooking show that makes me laugh but, this one does. I can't remember any particular dish that was made on the show but, the food they make on the show looks good.

So when watching Amy Schumber learns to cook I get to watch a cooking show with food that looks tasty and have a few giggles.

Every time I watch the show I feel better after having watched it. Its comfort food for my mind. Its relaxing and comforting to watch.

Awful Show

I would be fine ignoring this not funny show but even the commercials for it are terrible and non stop on food Network. Make it stop, please....

OMG I love this show!!! I absolutely am addicted to watching cooking shows and Chris is an amazing chef and Amy is absolutely hilarious. This is the best of both worlds. Food Network please renew for seasons to come!! I will be making the wings for sure, the broccoli/cauliflower pasta sounds delicious and I added matzah to my next grocery order (Thank you Amy)!! Love, Love Love!! #Fennelrocks

A New Low for Food Network
tildenkatz23 May 2020
Food Network has hit "rock bottom" with this show. Here is the spoiler free gist of the first and only episode I watched: Amy Schumer - in addition to being talentless and unfunny, and in addition to being treated like an A-list celebrity despite her lack of talent b/c her cousin is an important politician - is so privileged that she never learned basic cooking skills despite being 38 YEARS OLD!

In all seriousness her interactions with her husband were just plain weird and the whole episode was uninteresting, unoriginal and painfully unfunny (so in other words, a fairly typical Amy Schumer performance). If Food Network was so hellbent on losing even more money during the pandemic, they would have been better off taking the money they are paying Schumer and lighting it on fire. I really wish zero stars were an option, but it's not so I'll give it one star.

Love this show!
tjgates126 May 2020
The most "real" cooking show I've ever seen besides Pioneer Woman. I feel like I'm in my own "basic" kitchen, in my "real" home, with my "real" family. The food is all stuff I've eaten or would/will eat. I actually got some of the recipes to make. Yum!! I appreciate the substitution ideas, too. The fact that Amy and Chris clearly have a great dynamic makes the show awesome! The bantering and dialog is genuine and fun.

Yikes! So bad I can taste it....
shanghainoon-1107710 August 2020
This show is just plain terrible. The supposedly funny banter comes off as stupid and clumsy. I guess in a pandemic you settle for anything. I can only hope the network does not run a marathon of this show. I would have to "Chop" it right off .

Good fun! Just the recipe to get through these lockdowns!

We really like Amy Schumer and this show is good fun! She and her husband don't take it too serious and we're included in the fun. Good fun! Good laughs! Even mum gets a laugh out of it. Just the recipe to get through a lockdown!

Pleasant and goofy
micah18146 December 2020
I don't post a lot of reviews, but I couldn't bear seeing all the 1/10 reviews.

I will concede that the first couple of shows were clumsy (in a bad way) and Amy seemed to be straining for the humor. Then, I felt a shift. She developed an on-camera rapport with her husband that worked, and the show became endearingly goofy and proudly amateurish.

As for the other negative comments-can we stop grousing about rich people not hiding their privilege? It's none of your damn business why they still have a live-in nanny.

And Amy is not trying to upstage her husband-she is the reason for the show. If they were legitimately trying to produce a cooking show, yes, I could understand the frustration. But I think your focus is misplaced if you're annoyed that the titular star keeps saying stuff on her own show.

My one negative comparative comment is that Trisha Yearwood, who isn't a professional comic, is WAY funnier than Amy. (She's also not a chef and has more interesting recipes than most of the pros on Food Network, so there's that.) You don't have to pick between being funny and having a real cooking show.

But for what it is, the show works. It was a bright TV spot for me in the pandemic. Watching other families going a little off the rails in confinement at the same time as me was comforting.

Stupid show
desertrosesvaz26 May 2020
This show has nothing to do with cooking. Amy makes adult jokes throughout and for those of us on Pacific time, they are not child appropriate. She doesn't cook or try to learn. It is such a waste of time. Very inappropriate.

This show was hilarious! I loved seeing two real married people try and work together. The food looked delicious but I have to say I kept watching because they're truly hilarious together.

Worst show on Food network
paulmwherry18 May 2020
I'm very surprised anyone likes this show. She fizzled out in what she was supposed to be good at and then she's here flopping in something she knows nothing about. I really hope she has good investments so she can quit after this show gets cancelled before conclusion of the initial season. R.I.P Amy

A show just for fun
dagostinoh19 May 2020
This show is funny and nice to watch, not supposed to be taken SO serious. Honestly, this is how half of people look when they're cooking in their own homes so lighten up and just enjoy it. It's a fun show, and it's cute to see their family dynamics.

Amy Schumer is possibly the least funny person on the planet. Food Network made a big mistake with this. Amy: quit your job. It's really just sad and cringey to watch.

Bland
kingawesomegr23 May 2020
The humor in this show falls flat with no exceptions. Amy Schumer has not yet proven herself as a potential comedian. The show itself is hardly interesting, not lacking charm or creativity. During the times where it might be able to catch the attention of users, a failed attempt at humor ceases any possibility of getting hooked.

Great show. Everyone who doesn't like it is just taking themselves way too seriously. This is such a fun show well worth the watch and laugh!
