Amy Schumer Learns to Cook (2020)
... I was shocked by all the negative reviews!
Had to leave a review because this show is no where near as bad as people are saying. Normal cooking shows bore me after awhile and feel staged. It's refreshing to see an unfiltered and authentic cooking show! Laughed out loud every episode. Amy and Chris' dynamic is fun to watch and I hope there's a second season. Don't listen to the naysayers!
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
A unique story, absolutely loved.
After Netflix recommended this, I started watching on a casual "eh yeah ok sure" and immediately fell in love. The production is so good and the cast is amazing. One of those shows where you text your friends, "you have to watch this". Top tier!!!
Behind the Curve (2018)
Documentary rated low because of subject matter?
Had to put in my two cents because I think this documentary is getting low rating in response to the flat earth movement instead of the documentary itself. Subject matter aside, this documentary was really good, flowed really well together! Loved the line by the science journalist saying "what's your flat earth in your life?".
Dumplin' (2018)
A Refreshing and Fabulous Film
I really liked this movie because it did not play on the "skinny girls vs. big girl" trope. The skinner girls weren't demonized or mean to the main character because of her size, a refreshing and realistic take on life. The movie is about body positivity for all and a journey of self confidence. Don't listen to the naysayers, it's not the end all be all best movie ever but definitely a heartwarming story of family ties and self love. I think I'll go listen to some Dolly now!
Trainwreck (2015)
Don't listen to the naysayers!
In a world of bad and overdone comedy tropes, this is a good one out of the bunch. Maybe it's because I like Amy Schumer, or maybe it's nice to see female sexuality mainstreamed, either way this is a good movie. I laughed out loud at many parts which I deem a success. It slowed down a little bit towards the end but still worth the watch!
Sleeping with Other People (2015)
Worth a watch
The first half of the movie fit the typical romantic comedy shtick however the second half was a bit deeper and fun to watch. The characters had good development throughout the movie and you found yourself rooting for them by the end. It wasn't a masterpiece, but if you have the time give it a watch!
The Kissing Booth (2018)
A failed romance movie that could be a comedy
Halfway through this movie I had to research to make sure that this movie wasn't supposed to be a parody. For some reason this director (and many others) have no idea how real high school actually works. It's so incredibly cringey with awful characters and storyline. It's so so bad and way too long, just avoid at all costs. Also what's with Flynn's anger issues? He physically and verbally fights everyone with 0 reprocussions. Do not waste your time!
