Plodding and dull
mrush3 January 2009
I'm not sure why I rented this mess.I had never heard of it and I resisted the urge to rent it each time I went to the rental store but with nothing else drawing my eye I rented this crap.I should have resisted it one more time.

A young woman has these dreams where she sees people get killed .After her mom is killed , just like she had dreamed it, and the murderer is never caught her dreams slow down a bit.But then one day the bad dreams start up again and she feels like she must get all her friends that she has been dreaming about together ...in one place...in the middle of nowhere.... in the middle of the night....in an old abandoned farm house.....with a scarecrow in a cornfield.....yeah every cliché' in the book is here.

So while they all huddle together and wait for something,we are not really told what , we get to see the dreams she has been having and they are really long and boring and I'm guessing they are just there to pad out the running time of this crap fest.

This movie had no real special effects and not even a hint of a bare breast nor any thing else for me to even slightly recommend it.The acting and plot were just plain bad.In fact this whole movie looked like it was just made up along the way.Don't let the box fool you, this movie isn't good, nor scary nor anything really.

I gave it a three,I must be getting soft in my old age.

Premonitions that are a glimpse of hell.
michaelRokeefe21 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Cassandra(Bobbie Jo Westphal)predicted her own mother's death and fears she is plagued with premonitions that foretell her friend's horrific deaths. Cass is so desperate to save her friend's lives, she has invited them to meet in of all places...a deserted house in the middle of nowhere. Having everyone under one roof is thought to be able to control fate. There is Tony(Michael Hawkins-Burgos), Casper(Jeff Lee)and Alice(Angela Kane)trapped with Cass in the rundown house with doors and windows boarded shut by a storied slasher Bobby Skates(Tony Wood). A little cheesy with plenty of gore. A lot of disturbing scenes with a good share of sickening visuals.

Also in the cast: Alex Balestri, Amy Geyser and director/writer Doug Evans. HEEBIE JEEBIES is pretty predictable, but weird enough to hold interest.

Sometimes failing is the best thing you can do!
saltcoatston7 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Extremely low budget straight to video US horror about a girl that has bad dreams about her old school friends being killed, so calls them out to a rural farmhouse... cos they'll all be a lot safer there...

It has a Shyamalan-like twist over the killer, you know the kind was so obvious that you knew from the beginning, oh yeah she's going to turn crazy and be the killer, but so much time has passed that you've forgotten all about it that it's played as a "twist". Yeah, that kind...

It had a few epic, epic fails by characters, you kind that you just shout "fail" at the TV? Yeah, that kind... like the person making coffee in her car, spilling it over her lap, then looking up and hitting a drifter. Or the guy sticking a woman in the wood chipper after hitting her over the head with a spade, oh but she's not unconscious and drags him into the chipper with her. Yeah, that kind... FAIL!

It's not a good film, not in the slightest, but the fails make it amusing.

Heebie Jeebies:The comedy
mehboomstick10 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was like getting kicked in the nut sack repeatedly. Where to start, first: The dreams made no sense. At all. The auditions for actors seemed to be who can show the least possible emotion, as everyone talks in monotone and never show anything. The one guy, while being CLEAVED IN HALF, showed no emotion. The whole part with a wood chipper was retarded, as she had no lower torso but STILL had enough strength to pull a 200 pound fat guy into the wood chipper with her. The end, when she shaves her hair, I mean why? What was the purpose? Oh and that punch was pathetic.

The little statues are quite possibly the funniest things alive. The guy straps flashlights onto him to defend himself (curiously they all DIE and also they point in RETARDED locations). And then they do math to find out when they can be killed, at 6:66. The idiot thief figures out the right time while the professional screws up.

Anyways, if your wasted beyond belief or if you REALLY don't like someone rent this movie. If you bought it, I suggest fire. This movie is not good at all. There's nothing in it that can be considered scary. The killer has no reason to be killing, and in the end the main character gets RUN DOWN.

It was quite funny!

"Suck" doesn't even come close
travisdarmstrong30 May 2006
There really aren't words to describe how bad this movie is. And I like bad horror movies. I take a low IMDb score as a challenge, and quite often, they're really not all that bad. There are usually a few redeeming qualities, like cool camera angles, scene transitions, symbolic shots, or at least a hot chick.

It wasn't just that this movie makes no sense. Or that the dialog was idiotic. Or that the actors, director, editor, and writer have no business making movies. I can handle most of these things, if there's at least one interesting scene or bit of dialog. This movie had nothing. Even if you can overcome the hopeless concept (why is it safer to be at an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere with no power, phone, running water, etc?), the agonizingly long "dream sequences" take up over half the movie, and have surprisingly little to do with the plot.

I've seen some really bad horror movies, but this one just might top the list as the absolute worst ever. I can't imagine someone intentionally making this movie. It actually made me angry that someone could put such filth on film.

Awful Movie, Worse Acting
the_moody_youngest19 October 2006
This movie was awful. Awful!! It had horrible acting, a terrible plot, bad characters, awful camera angles, bad filming, and no emotion! The character Tony was horrible and the worst actor ever!!!!!!!! Seriously! The plot and movie was pointless and I hated it!Me, me cousins Ashlee and Justin, and my sister Jennifer rented the movie cuz we wanted a horror flick. We thought it looked scary, so we rented it. Big mistake! We laughed twice. Two parts were hilarious! So rent it for that! Fast forward to those parts then turn it off. For good. it is terrible and stupid and it had dumb acting! Don't rent it because it is so dumb!! And you'll hate it! To the extreme!

Gave me the Heebie Jeebies
paul-clark198715 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
'I really did love this film' <- that is what acting should be like, the acting in Heebie Jeebies was terrible.

Me and Joe Swatman bought the film for 2 pounds thinking we would be in for a good laugh with sick deaths and cheesy killers.... big mistake. the story jumps from different plots all over the place, different stories coming at me from all angles... what the heck was going on, I do like my cheesy horrors such as brain dead for its comic value but this stunk. The part with concrete blocks hitting someone in the face made me wet my pants at his reaction to it. apart from laughing at the film we would of been bored for an hour, only see this film if u plan on riping on it with mates for an hour. enough said.

Should be a comedy
femaleanimefan1 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with on user, this should be a comedy. If it was it would get like a 4.4 for me. But it is a horror, so it gets a 1.0, and that is being generous. I hated this movie because it had no plot and it didn't make any sense what so ever. It was funny a couple of times. example, The Twilight Zone, The bones coming to life, "It stabbed my calves!" Those parts were all recklessly hilarious and I give the writer of this film a hard punch in the back for adding that.

The horror was not scary at all and the acting was pure crap. The only person who could act was Casper and that was it. Tony had NO emotion and looked like a freak throughout the whole movie. When he was about to be killed, he had a straight face on. When he sacrificed himself, that was so pathetic and lame. The point of Cassy crying when Tony died was stupid because she seemed fine and like she didn't care at all when the other people were killed.

I also agree with the user about the Kelly scene. That was so stupid. That guy had to weigh about 300 pounds at least and when she was half dead she was still able to pull him down. That WAS pathetic. I hated that. But I did like the incredibly stupid humor in this lame film. My verdict: This movie never should have been made and I wish that the writer, director, editor, artist, actor who made this stupid film never to do films again. Because, you all suck. Never come back. I never want to see your faces again.

Did me and this person below me watch the same movie? This movie was amazing. The actors really lucked out having this movie in their resume. I cant wait to see new work they come out with. Im also excited to see if the director is going to consider making a sequel for the growing number of fans out there. Storyline is amazing, it will keep you at the edge of your seat the entire film! And you wont know what hit you at the end. You'll definitely feel like you owe the video store more money for this rental. Put the kids to sleep and let grown up fun start. If you get into this, i would highly recommend the SAW series, Resident evil, stay alive and campfire stories to all of you. And phantasm.

Has a certain charm
flotzin7 April 2006
No, this isn't the great American horror movie, nor will it scare the pants off of you. But it does have a certain charm. The joy in watching this movie is the fun of seeing a group of young people who obviously had no feature-length movie-making experience, and no budget, put their heads together and make the most of what they had to work with.

The plot is a confused mess and defies all logic, as any other review of this movie will correctly tell you, but it did do one thing that a lot of much bigger budget horror movies I've seen in the past few years failed to do - it entertained me.

The wrap-around plot is nonsensical, some craziness about a girl getting a bunch of high school friends together in the most unsafe, isolated place she can find, because she's had dreams about their deaths that she thinks will come true, and she wants to protect them - by tricking them into gathering in the most unsafe, isolated place she can find.

Then we are thrust into her dreams, shown as three vignettes that could really stand alone as short films, which has led to this movie, for better or worse, being tagged with the "anthology" label. The first dream is kind of lame. The second one, though it doesn't really fit in with the film, if pretty amusing. The third vignette, however, is sharp and creepy, and contains the best performances in the movie.

The overall quality of the acting is better than one would expect for a no-budget movie, and there are some real flashes of cleverness in the direction. With a higher budget, these guys could probably put together a pretty good movie.

If you take it's lack of a budget into account, and you go into the movie with the attitude that you're going to enjoy it for what it is rather than question it, you'll probably get some enjoyment out of it.

And it has a cool twist ending that I did not see coming at all.

bunch of college kids....
g_vegaspimpdaddy15 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
this movie seemed like it was made (and probably was) by college kids doing a simple movie for a test grade or something. i thought it would be a lot scarier than it was. one thing that kept startiling me was the fact that the killer always ran up to the victim instead of hiding behind a tree or something, it made it more real. i would have given it something like a 2 or 3, but i gave this movie a 5 b/c it was unique and actually had a surprising ending. but the scene i hated most besides the scene about Casper's twin, was the one were Kelly was getting chopped up and she happened to come out of her comma and pull that huge man down with her. that was stupid. her body was mostly cut up and she was half dead and the man did not have the strength to get her little hands off his ankle. P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C. but besides that this movie was just a little below OK.

Greatness upon greatness
brewha_ha27 December 2008
This movie is great. I enjoyed every moment of this movie. If you don't like this movie you probably have no class or style. Everything about this movie makes me want to live a long life in hopes of enjoying something even one tenth as great as this. As far as rentals go, this movie is a must. Performances by Doug and Jeff Lee rank as the best overall. I don't want to give anything away, but the wood chipper scene steals the show. If you read a bad review of this movie the reviewer obviously doesn't understand that Heebie Jeebies is supposed to be a comedy/horror flick, w/ the comedy coming first. In conclusion, see this movie now, don't waste a minute more of your pathetic life.

no heebie jeebies
trashgang2 November 2011
If you need two directors (Doug Evans, Michael Hawkins-Burgos) to make a flick then I guessed it would been good. Well, it wasn't. And it shows, Doug stopped directing and Michael only did some shorts.

Most of the actors only did this flick, some went further just doing one more. I didn't had anything against the acting, it was mediocre but it was the script that was really boring. There are so many things going on without really understanding why we have all those stories. Then you have a burglar, then a killer, than a prank, then someone in a car not that kosher. It just didn't work out and you just can't get involved with the characters.

Naturally being a horror I watched closely to see how they did the effects. On that part some things were okay but most of the killings are off-camera. I won't say it's gory even as there are bodies torn apart and some scene's do have a lot of red stuff it just didn't work.

It's so strange that being in a abandoned house, alone with your friends and having a scarecrow the boogey man didn't show up. No Jeebie-Heebie for me here.

Teen slasher omnibus film brings back 1979.
rixrex28 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This appears to have been shot on either 16mm or with video effects to mimic 16mm, with the nice graininess, maybe even Super-8, and looks like one of those low-rent Magnum or Paragon videotapes recorded in EP mode. It's a good effect whether intentional or not. It gives us, the viewers, the distinct feel of a late 1970s Halloween/Friday the 13th cash-in, with a bit of Phantasm supernatural eeriness thrown in.

It also reminds us of the horror omnibus films that were popular in the 1970s like those from Amicus and their copy-cats, as this tale of terror has additional horror stories within the main story. It is actually done in an interesting manner, two of the additional stories being the clairvoyant dreams of a main character.

What you will get is a main story of a slasher on the loose in a rural wooded setting with a decrepit house of several teens 'reunioning' as main location. With that wrap-around tale, you also get 3 additional horror stories, one which is an eerie "prologue" that sets up the main story, and two others that will creep you out. I can't say more or it would be a spoiler.

Besides the look of the film or video images, all of the settings have that older 1970s appearance, albeit somewhat rundown and worse for wear, which is very effective. Even the gore effects, of which there are several, are 1970s style. The appearance and clothing of most of the main characters seems to be 70s and 80s period thrift-store purchases, mostly. I find it hard to believe that this was just chance and not intentional.

While there are lapses in the story and performances that could have been handled better, overall this is worth a look by genre fans and is just as enjoyable as Rob Zombie's 1970s revisited material.

It appears that there was one story edited out, as the final titles show several important characters "not viewed" but still given credit. Would be a nice 'deleted scenes' addition to a DVD re-issue if it exists.

A train wreck with some tiny glimmers of light
ThatDarnIrishMan0117 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I expected this to be a run of the mill slasher film but it's actually more of an anthology movie with a loose connecting plot of a girl who has dreams where she sees her friends die, well generally not her friends. Sometimes. Maybe.

The main portion of the story in a house in the woods is the worst part by far. The main girl and her love interest both mumble every line of dialogue with the emotion of a sponge. It's the most generic slasher bit and it was a real slog to sit through. Someone else reviewed this and said it's clearly a horror comedy but the main scenes in the house prove it isn't intended to be that. There is no comedy at all in these parts. It's also very clear who the killer is.

The anthology parts are where it seems to be more comedy focused but also only sometimes. They're meant to be the dreams of the main girl seeing premonitions of how her friends will die, except they aren't. The first cut away shows a group of people try and prank one of the main girls, then at the end she kills one of them (but then shows up at the house acting weird and disappears at the time of the first death, I wonder who the killer is). It's probably a collection of the worst acting overall and is just awful.

The second is a really bizarre but really enjoyable one about ancient ghosts and there are CGI monsters in it. It is totally out of place with the rest of the movie since it's an out and out comedy, it's relatively well acted and is pretty enjoyable. It's also about demons and monsters when the rest is just about a crazy girl who got pranked. It also doesn't feature any of the characters from the rest of the movie so the dream premonition thing already fell flat at that point.

The last one is just kind of boring, a girl going to see them accidentally hits a dude in the woods and a weird guy "helps" her. About 99% of it is pointless but there is a scene where she gets sprayed by a woodchipper the creepy dude is feeding a body in which is unintentionally funny. It also falls apart with the dream premonition thing since the main girl assumes it has already happened (so you know it's gonna happen later).

Another thing is there is a weird lack of music in basically every scene which does add to the awkwardness of it all.

I found it hard to score this one since a lot of the time I was checking the clock but the few fun moments did pick it up, especially the middle dream.

Stay away
rherring-1604017 September 2019
I've seen many bad, low budget horror movies in my time, but this just might be the worst...it has the look of a high school project which received a failing grade...aside from not being scary or suspenseful at all, the story is completely nonsensical...I don't often review movies, but I felt compelled to warn others away from this one...
