Bloody money, always causes trouble.

Rodney has spent the firm's last five hundred quid on sun tan lotion, only it's the middle of winter, times are tough for Trotter's Independent Traders. Uncle Albert finds a way of making a few quid.

It's a good episode, it served to give Uncle Albert a big story, and further introduce him as a Trotter. It's memorable, it's amusing, alright it's not a classic, but it has its moments.

The opening scenes with Del ranting about Rodney's failed business venture are very funny, Rodney's evidence is also hilarious.

Loved the ending, the twist was an unexpected one. It really did work.

I like that Grandad wasn't just forgotten about, he had a few mentions, and gets another one here, credit to Buster Merryfield though, he needed no time at all to settle in, he was brilliant.

You have to love Uncle Albert, 8/10.

He's Been Down More Holes Than Tony Jacklin!

Decent middle-of-the-road series 4 effort. Sullivan quickly trying to instill in the viewer the impression that Uncle Albert is a member of the Trotter family and deserves to be recognised as one; both in how far he'll go for his family and his uncanny propensity for wallyness - both essential Trotter family traits.

A decent episode.

Solid comedy enhanced by the performances

The Trotters are short of money and looking to make ends meet.

This is well written comedy that combines the usual funny banter and a pretty inventive story that has a hilarious reveal about one character.

Del, Rodney, and Uncle Albert are used perfectly by John Sullivan who also lampoons various aspects of individuals who run compensation scams. This also follows on well from the portrayal of Granddad's passing in the previous episode. My favourite scenes are all set in the court room.

David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst, and Buster Merryfield are on top form as always.

Warning - there are some racial slurs used by Albert that feel very authentic for the era and the character's generation. If you are offended by this, heed the warning.

For me the episode is a 7.5/10, but I round upwards.

Dave the Trotters Independent Traders Accountant, invests the firms last fiscal capital on a never to be repeated business bargain.

When the Trotter Clan's prospects seem to have hit the absolute lowest point, Uncle Albert appears to the rescue.

Albert comes a cropper down the celar doors of the Nags Head pub, sending the publican Mike flying.

The Brewery are prepared to settle out of court but Derek Trotter sees only £££ Signs before his minces, and sues for negligence.

Warning: Spoilers
Of course the history behind this episode is that filming started on it with dear Leonard Pearce (Granddad) who passed shortly after, so it was rewritten to incorporate Uncle Albert instead.

It actually provides a good opportunity to get to know the new character a little more, and how he'll fit into the Trotter dynamic.

Some of these 30 min episodes of 'Only Fools' tend to start well and then fade, but this was a nice complete little story being told. In very difficult circumstances behind the scenes too.
