A selection of prisoners is going on a bus trip to a protest rally. Alex manages to escape with help from his mother and sister (disguised as nuns). Faber and Uckles, chained together, also get involved in the great escape.
On the day Faber is granted an early parole, he learns his wife has left him and taken all of his money. Uckels gets into a scrape with a fellow inmate and Faber gets the blame.
Snoek has a new escape plan to coincide with the prison snooker tournament. But he will first have to lose some weight if he wants to fit through a bathroom window.
As soon as the new director, Sophia Schollevaar, arrives she begins criticizing Miechels and Ten Bruggencate on their way of conduct. Meanwhile Uckels and Bruce get on each others nerves and refuse to share a cell any longer.
Miechels & Ten Bruggencate are on edge because dangerous Irish terrorist Ken McInneconneckie is staying at the prison. To make matters worse, there is a blackout all over the island.
When most of B-wing ends up with a hernia, after digging in the mud for warden Miechels, director Schollevaar takes it upon herself to teach a light aerobic class.
New inmate Ernst Rochel claims to possess an actual study by Rembrandt and asks Bruce to paint a layer over it to disguise it. Director Schollevaar finds herself attracted to the charismatic former art dealer.
The prison is suffering from a heatwave. When Miechel's precious ping-pong balls are stolen, he orders every prisoner out in the yard until they've been found.
Sophia Schollevaar has been director for three months and thinks she is already universally hated. However, the warders are organizing a belated welcoming party.
