After We Fell (2021)

Warning: Spoilers
I won't lie, I've read all of these books probably within a month and I love them. I've been hyped for this movie since I first saw the trailers and I enjoyed the first two even though they obviously weren't perfect.

I love Hero and Jo and feel like their acting is so much better than this movie. It felt like random scenes were spliced together with no flow or coherency towards a plot. Scenes that needed extra time to flesh out and develop were just abruptly cut off with no rhyme or reason. There is no character development and you don't have time to connect with any of the characters because all the scenes are so short and choppy. It's frustrating because the director bragged so much about "sticking to the books' when she really didn't. For example, Tessa's dad is MAJOR plot point in the third book, but they share what, two scenes together? So when the event that happens to him in the beginning of After Ever Happy I'm going really be hard pressed to believe Tessa's emotion since she spent virtually no time with him.

Also, the cast changes were very distracting. I understand why they had to do it but it was just kinda weird. Like the character of Vance, he has no accent in the second one but now has an accent?

Overall, I feel like the director just wanted to cram in as many sex scenes, which weren't really even as good as imagined from the book and of course they both orgasm after like 10 seconds. I get it's not supposed to be smut or anything but they have an R rating so I feel like they could have done better than that.

I just hope After Ever Happy will somewhat improve the story but I definitely won't be paying to watch it.
