Fresh off of working on the horror films Swallowed and Consecration, Jena Malone has signed on to star in the supernatural thriller The Movers – and Deadline reports that she’ll be working with a cool supporting cast that includes Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow), Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do!), Grant Feely (Obi Wan), Kellan Rhude (Dexter: New Blood), Natalie Burn (Black Adam), and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future).
Written and directed by Giorgio Serafini, The Movers will tell the story of a close-knit family who moves into a seemingly charming neighborhood, only to discover that all is not what it appears. A full Free Movie of the Day is posted on the JoBlo Horror Movies YouTube channel every day of the week – but on Fridays things get even freakier and a little more fun. Get your weekend started the right way by indulging in Friday Fright Nights! Every Friday, we’ll be taking a look at another genre movie you can watch in its entirety, free of charge, either on the YouTube channel linked above or in the video embed here.
This week’s Friday Fright Nights feature is the witchcraft horror movie Incantation, which was written and directed by Eric Gibson… and which brought to mind something Stephen King mentioned in his book Danse Macabre. King suggested that the 1979 classic The Amityville Horror works as well as it does because of its subtext of economic unease. He jokingly said the movie could have been subtitled The Horror of the Shrinking Bank Account.

Not since "Buffy" have I been particularly interested in televised teen-age shenanigans, but there's a new girl on the block named Gena Marshall. And in the upcoming dark drama "The Freshman", she leads viewers on a journey through the cliques and social standards of your not-so-modern high school. Ever hear "Don't trust the new girl"? In Gena's case it seems to be excellent advice because as soon as she shows up, her classmates start disappearing.
Filming of the one-hour pilot for "The Freshman" is set to start in Los Angeles in February, 2009. Kellan Rhude (pictured, Return to Sleepaway Camp), Aaron Perilo, Debra Wilson, and Janet Linn have already been cast with more to come. The pilot is being directed by Charles Clemmons from a script penned by Jillian Ashe.
Along with being shopped to cable networks upon completion, "The Freshman" will be available for download on iTunes. No other details on the project are available,...
