I had no idea what I was walking into with this one except that it was an indy film of somewhat high acclaim. I was skeptical (a few bad indy films previously) and it was a sloppy looking mess at the get go, so I thought I'd have to painfully tough it out for my friends who invited me.
Although the camera work leaves a lot to be desired in many parts (my girlfriend was getting motion sickness,) I have to say that this film grew on me quickly after the first scene. The dialogue is outrageously spot on as well as the situations that the characters get into, without feeling contrived. It all felt very genuine and spontaneous, with so many moment where everyone was laughing out loud, which I rarely hear nowadays.
The Rhett character was hilariously over the top as the naive, spaced out neo-hippie, without feeling that the character was simply "quirky," in fact all the characters felt on the level in their own way, while being the opposite of what you come to expect of them at times.
I was amazed at how tight this film was, and if you can handle the camera work, which may give it the 'road movie' feel, then you might enjoy it. It is quite a little gem.
