Lucifer (2016–2021)
3/10
Waste of time
3 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watch it because my GF likes it. It's bland as bland can be (The show, not my GF). The acting is atrocious (no exception). The scenarios of the crimes are laughable. The whole story about Lucifer, Mazikeen, Amenadiel, and the other celestial beings is ludicrous (and blasphemous). The archangel Michael is evil, Lucifer is the good guy, which should send all the staff working on the show to the stake. All the characters are so dull it's an insult to intelligence. And they of course all go to see a therapist, because, of course, LA. And oh, for "inclusivity", some angels and God himself are POC.

We are halfway through 5th season. 18 episodes to go. Yeepeee! What wouldn't a man do for his sweetheart...

...aaaaaand... CANCELLED!
13 February 2023
I share the common opinion: Two first season were masterpieces, third was a total disaster with a couple of Mary Sue, weak white people, etc, but season 4 was not bad, even if it was convoluted. Season 5 could have been better.

We will never know. Another great series bites the dust. What is the point of building such a rich universe during 4 seasons, and then drop everything? So much wasted potential. Maybe the scenarist were not up to the task. Nonetheless, this should have been lead to its conclusion. I was hoping to see Anthony Hopkins rising from the dead.

When HBO eventually file for bankruptcy, in a year or two, I'll cheer.

Forced humor is boring AF.
21 January 2023
This series is a mash-up of so many better works. Think of X-Files, Men in black, Futurama, Rick and Morty, etc. But here, the humor is forced, unimaginative to a point that from time to time, they are compelled to explain the joke. We are soooooo far away from Gravity Falls and Rick and Morty. It's flabbergasting.

And "the message" is ubiquitous: White men bad, cowardly and stupid. Women: Wise, courageous and oppressed. Bah blah blah. Go to Oblivion Hell.

The animation is bland as bland can be. It's unremarkable, styleless and forgettable. The plots of the episodes are so predictable. I've only been able to painfully watch the 5 first episodes. May be the others are better. I'll probably never know.

Do not waste your time with this . Watch something else or re-watch something you enjoyed.

What did I expect... It's Netflix.

Warning: Spoilers
Politics, racial politics everywhere. Guess whose for is the white woman aroused? A puck (some kind of faun), and his complexion is dark, and his horns are bigger, of course, they are. A pity, the show could have been good. It really could. The dystopia is well balanced. Even the creatures are believable. Buuuuuut they are tainted, infected, oozing with nowadays' racial politics that should never have seeped into this fictional world. Some of the magical creatures are not AT ALL from the Celtic folklore and as always, it ruins everything. I guess if you're some kind of left-leaning, non binary person into inter-sectional struggle against patriarchy with a BLM tattoo, you can like it.

As for me, I'm done after E03. I'll put a star for the costumes, the props, the special effects, the steampunk Victorian dystopia, but as it is obviously some propaganda work, one star is enough.

... and will not go further. Just imagine being a woman forced to eternally face the wall and never hit it... No, his movie is not for me. Way to romantic. The main point is that I can't fathom why anybody would fall in love for her.

I liked this movie.
24 December 2021
Was a good alien parasitism movie set in the USSR during Andropov mandate. The directing and acting was good. The look and feel of the era was flawless.

Just some mistakes. The writings on the surveillance cameras and the x-ray pictures are... in English.

Hey; not that bad actually...
5 November 2021
... and as would state one of the protagonist at the very end : "I thought everything made sense, but none of this does now."

The movie is a collection of intertwined stories in a near future (2028). Can't say there is an ensemble plot, but the whole is watchable. Do it !

Once in a rare while, a good film...
4 November 2021
I definitely enjoyed it. No inverted racism, which is to be noted in these woke days. The actors are good. The action is fairly paced. Many things borrowed (?) from other films, but a very good cocktail.

Watch it, It's worth it.

BTW, it was fun to see Maeve and Clem from Westworld together.

Re-watch cloud Atlas instead.

Re-watch cloud Atlas instead. This one is boring, pushing the same racial agenda. 2021, yes, indeed. Cloud Atlas was well-paced, deep (somehow). This one is meh.

AMAZING...ly boring
20 October 2021
I've been watching it for 20 minutes and it's boring. Yes, the CGI are gorgeous, but the movie is meh. This remake looks useless.

Then, there is this moment when you begin to fast forward a little, and a little more. The magic of the old movie is not there.

And the Scottish bagpipe killed it all. I'm done.

Story is good buuuut....
16 October 2021
OK, I read the series of books 30 years ago, and I'll not start a rant about how the adaptation is not true to them, as I have no recollection of the books. I even had forgotten I had read them.

But, the story in the TV series is fairly good. It's a bit sluggish. It lacks mystery. Brother day looks like a dull copy of Loki with a pied of the armor of Iron Man. Many of the characters are dune-esque. I enjoy watching it. I mean I enjoy watching it more than watching the rain through my window panes.

What bothers me the most is that half of the actors are ugly AF. Really. The ugly actors are wise, compassionate, and heroic. The pretty actors are cruel, oppressive, conniving.

2021 AD.

White wall 2020
26 September 2020
Just watched the first episode. Loved it, but I'm a fan of Nordic TV series; so the grayish/blueish colors, the slow pace, the snow, the cold, the unavoidable tavern, that's my thing. Can't wait the moment someone is eaten by a bear or is crushed by a snowplow. And there is this collection of totally alien characters who all live in Ikea houses. And hey, they succeeded in finding a black Swede actor ! Progress in action, on your screens, now ! So watch it.

A "must-not-watch" sci-fi flick
7 September 2020
Aaaah, who are you people ? Frankly, why wasting money like that ? There are dozens of sci-fi and fantasy and horror movies which aggregate "indigenous" folklore (for what it's worth). And some are good. Indeed. So why trying to mix-up aboriginal culture, LGBTxyz stuff, all this kind of nasty schtick ? You forgot to add some instersectionnal BLM bias, so you are some oppressive white ~I will not assume your gender~ ???

Sci-fi can't escape all the S.J.W. crap nowadays. The years we're living in will not be the best years foe the movie industry. This movie, like so many other will be easily forgotten.

Noughts + Crosses (2020– )
So woke I doubt there will be a second season...
7 March 2020
I'm a sci-fi fan, and I do my best to watch everything categorized as "sci-fi". So I watched Noughts + Crosses season 01 episode 01.

Holly molly... So imbécile and woke AF that it sets a new standard of the genre. I must admit I will net even bother to watch a second episode, so my review may be brief. Here is it :

Good sample of the UFO crooks and nutcases
19 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
No, seriously, you must stop with interviewing crooks and nutcases. Each time there's a dust out of focus of a camera, these dumbos think it's a spacecraft from another dimension? Guess what ? It's dust.

Do not expect to see in this crap anything that fuzzy pictures, or pareidolia examples that have been debunked again, and again, and again. Cydonia face ? LOL Crop circles ? LMAO

All the space missions were equipped with state of the art cameras, and nothing but fuzzy thingies wandering here and there.

Five b... eautiful ladies lost in the woods
22 January 2020
Ludicrous piece of garbage : Five school friends lost in the woods looking for the disappeared father of one. The pseudo scientific mumbo jumbo - of course with Egyptian crap in it, the whole written in an Indiana Jones style - was stupid. Reminded me of Yellow Brick Road, except that YBR was good. I've paused the movie at 00:48. Now resuming.

That could have been a good film, but meh.
29 January 2019
The acting is below average. Nothing makes sense. There are lifeforms in space, mostly edible giant carnivorous crabs you can bait with crystal and repel with fire extinguisher. And ludicrous Chinese dragons that wail like whales slithering where there's no water.

There are only three chicks aboard, and they are hot. Two are from the regular crew and are banging with the black dude. Hard. One is the cook, and she's covered with tattoos, has messy hair and... issues.

All the nooks of the ship are dirty. The kitchen is a pigsty I'd not even take a dump in. Cuz ya know, they're societal trash, so, they like to live in the dirt and never wash anything.

There are pirates in space but the ship has no canons.

I understand the reference to the ol'book of lore, but they all fall short. Who needs a brass telescope on a starship ? And a cavalry saber ?

That could have been a good film, but meh.

Can't even believe this piece of garbage gets good critics
13 October 2018
The synopsis was good, but the movie is utter garbage. The acting is bad as bad can be. The humor is ... Damn it's so bad it's embarrassing. The special effects are cheesy, even for 1989 (2001, Star Wars and Alien were wayyy better). The developments are stupid. Even with the best will in the world, you can't believe what you see.

Watched half and stopped.

Awful plot. Bad acting. Poor CGI and horrible make-up. If you like ugly teenagers running and screaming erratically, this movie is for you. If you like sci-fi, do not waste your time.

Average film, even if a little predictable.
5 October 2018
Watchable once. Do not think to re-watch it someday. On a similar topic, Moon (2009) was way better.

Goof : One of the character is learning French. At 37', we see him reading an article about the French Revolution on the computer. The article is plagued with grammar mistakes.

Ludicrous, but not enough to be funny. Avoid.
1 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
So cheesy it could have been shot in West Germany in 1988. I think they wanted to make some kind of revival of eh eighties. The CGI are awful. The costumes and make up are cheap. The music is unbearable. The voice of the human-like robot is... a robot voice.

The story ? The crew lands on a desert planet to assess for any malicious lifeforms. So they walk in the desert without any space/hazmat suit, just to catch any airborne bacteria or virus, but they must not touch the plants, no no no. then someone has a nosebleed but no quarantine, because "Don't f... drink that water". It is ludicrous, but not enough to be funny. Avoid.
