I'm 17 minutes in
13 January 2020
I'm 17 minutes into this movie and I can with absolute certainty that it's complete garbage. You know it's abysmal writing when they exhume a dead villain because they don't have enough creativity to think of a new decent one. Also dialogues up until this point have been boring and feel sooo fake and cliché. The vote is 2 for now, but I may lower it to 1 by the end.

Joker (I) (2019)
9/10
Not a superhero movie, but rather a super movie about a person
6 October 2019
If you go watch Joker expecting the usual superhero tropes with good guys and villains (and maybe Batman?), you will be disappointed. But if you expect a really good story about human existence, Joker delivers and does it really well!

Joker is the story about and unfortunate random person - one that in real life may even live in your same neighborhood - that had a difficult life and is completely abandoned by society, and his development into the villain we all know (or though we knew?). This movie reminds us that evil people are often not born evil: they are created by society and people that surround them.

Joaquin Phoenix's performance is incredible and perfectly incarnates the Joker; he is the main reason that makes this movie as good as it is. The narration pace is sustained, with never a dull moment but without going too quickly either. The whole mix works really well, to the point of creating one of the best movies of the last years. Go watch it.

A movie made by Tarantino for Tarantino
28 September 2019
I start by saying that I really like nearly every Tarantino movie, so much that I don't even check reviews before going to watch one of his. But this movie... is vastly inferior to all the others he ever made. Not a totally bad movie, but it didn't feel compelling either.

The biggest culprit is the storyline, which is somewhat bland. It follows the normal lives of several people living in Hollywood - well at least the kind of normal you can expect from actors and stuntmen - and at some point it's also touching and interesting, but overall doesn't goes anywhere. One particular character grows and change along the storyline, but everyone else stays just the same or worse is never seen again.

Tarantino also makes tons of reference to movie industry and self-references to his own movies - including Pussycat and various foot fetish - but I'm not really into this kind of things and I don't believe they can make a great movie when core aspects are lacking.

It's an ok movie, but not something I'd want to watch again. I watched Pulp Fiction at least four time, Kill Bill three, the Hateful Eight twice. But Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is just... meh.

Best action of the last two decades!
9 June 2019
John Wick 3, just like the previous two chapters, has simply amazing action scenes! Combat flows very organically, both shooting and martial art sections, and all without the continuous cuts and terrible shaky cam that we see in basically every other action movie. Keanu Reeves also plays nearly all action scenes by himself (no stuntman), which is one of the reason the director can have long action scenes without cuts or interruptions! So, Action: 10/10

On the other hand, the plot is... meh. John Wick is trying to escape from basically every other assassin in the whole world and seeking the few allies that could somehow help him. Nothing too shocking, just a pretext to show amazing action.

In conclusion, watch this movie if you like great action. And trust me, it's GREAT! But if you are searching for a deep and complex plot or profound emotions, you won't find them here.

Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Season 8, Episode 6

Terrible, but at least we had some Peter Dinklage scenes
20 May 2019
I already gave up on the whole serie after episode 3 and stopped caring about this ridiculous plot. Episode 5 was even worse and even more nonsensical. So this final episode was actually an improvement compared to the rest, just because we got several decent scenes by Peter Dinklage, most visuals were great, and the main character death was reasonably well executed.

Everything else is completely horrible. Game of Thrones season 8 will become for me the same as Scrubs season 9: IT NEVER HAPPENED.

I thought s08 e03 was the worst. I was wrong.

What is this garbage? Who hired a 3 years old to write the script? This episode is an offense to the books, to the actors, and more and everything to you, the fans. Disgraceful waste of a good story.

Worst cliché, worst strategy, worst dialogues, worst episode in the whole serie
29 April 2019
Seriously, this episode is so predictable and cliché that I managed to guess nearly every single major event that happened during the episode. Strategy makes absolutely no sense on both sides, dialogues are meaningless, and the whole battle left me with a feeling of... nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Thankfully I watched this with my Bro, so we could laugh the whole episode about how poorly the whole thing was. This is not Game of Thrones. This is even worse than the Sand Snakes episodes.

Watch season 1 and 2, then stop before it's too late
27 April 2019
The first two season are great, worthy of 8 or maybe even 9/10! The plot idea is simple but effective, most characters are interesting and acted well (with some exceptions), and the plot twists are very good! Some of the characters's choices are terribly stupid and annoying, but the rest is so good that you can almost forgive them.

That is, the first two seasons. Season 3 is a total mess. Few interesting moments, but for the most part it became a serie that has no idea what it is and where it wants to go, with bunch of useless story lines that start nowhere and go nowhere.

Watch the first two seasons, they are worth it! But then stop there.

A movie for nerds made by people who are not nerds
31 March 2018
A movie for nerds and children made by people who are neither nerds nor children.

It has a few good moments here and there, but overall it feels like wasted potential and a has very weak storyline. Especially disappointing when the Holy Grenade does *NOT* chant "ALLELUJAAA" before detonating. Meh. The movie moral is also ridiculously obvious.

It gets 6- just because it made me smile from time to time and because lately the quality of movies really went doooown.
