Barry: starting now (2022)
Everyone is insane and repeating lines
Wow, I really thought I would come here and see a low score. 9,5, seriously, folks?
Janice's father repeat 300 times the same lines to Cousineau with no need. I get it, they tried to portray the scene as scary and all that, but it's annoying, like literally minutes of screen time with the absolutely same thing being overly repeated.
The same goes for Barry in the scene where his girlfriend beats the other dude. He just repeat the same line over and over again "it's barry who did this".
To complete it Albert who left the police station last episode in some kind of fury to kill Barry. Then Albert meets Barry in the middle of the desert, Barry just kneel and start screaming. Then Albert proceeds to forgot everything that happened, even the killing of Chris, and say "I know you are not a bad person. This need to stop. CYA!"
I don't think it could get any worse or nonsensical, yet here we are with 9,5 score, maybe it's an image of our society. Don't get me wrong, I liked mostly of Barry episodes and have no political/personal agenda on this review. It wasn't funny, it wasn't smart, nothing.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part II (2022)
Episode I - 10/10; Episode II - 6/10 (I know it is 7 here) - too many inconsistencies.
First of all, I have to say I loved the first episode. The jedi temple scenes, the prequels flashbacks, jawas, Leia's family plot and ambient were also outstanding. Scenarios also really feels like fresh Star Wars (not the ep 7 copy or the ep 8/9 failed attempt to deliver something new that sucks).
Having said that, here are my thoughts on episode II, which fell off a lot. I'll make a list so it's organized and easier to read:
1. Reva spent like 5 minutes on episode I trying to extract Obi-Wan location from Owen. She talked and talked and talked then threatened and threatened again, putting that whole show on the city. Ok. Then on episode II she found that Haja fake jedi dude and like in 5 secs just use a sith trick to read his mind and find Obi-Wan location. Like, how big is this plot hole? I know the old movies have their flaws, but this one is critical, it is gross.
2. Obi Wan asked Leia her age? People will answer that he was trying to make conversation with the kid to then proceed to tell her that she looks older, but meeeh... I don't know guys, it looks dumb.
3. What is up with the imperial hierarchy and the inquisitor death? Reva just killed the great inquisitor in the most random way. That dude has been bossing her around the whole show. Yes, I know the sith kill each other, their lust for power and all of that. I think that would be cool for her to kill him in an epic season finale way, since he is disturbing her main objective, but why in that random manner? Seriously, she was almost getting her holy grail (Obi-Wan), inquisitor dude walks in and she kills him out of nowhere ????. Again, totally random kill and the hierarchy thing (why is there a "great inquisitor" if things like this can just happen on weird circumstances, aka, killing each other during a chase.)
4. The whole city is looking for Kenobi and he just walking there with no hood. Cmon, bro, that is just lazy.
5. I miss the old villains, seriously. Darth Maul and Count Dooku barely talking on the most intense scenes - this is what gave them a powerful appearance. Now, Reva with her lightsaber screaming "I WILL KILL YOU" "I WILL FIND YOU" staring at Obi-Wan ship fleeing, or the whole monologue while Kenobi was hiding on those boxes. Damn, that feels like a random disney villain on a kids movie.
Final thoughts: a) from what I've seen, Reva kinda sucks; b) they must be careful when they show force powers, since overpowered bs cause major plot holes; c) I know Debora Chow directed both episodes, but sincerely Ep I feels like a Filoni work, while ep II looks like a Rian Johnson type director thing.
Good points: Ewan McGregor, visuals, Haja, Fifth Brother, Darth Vader final scene. Won't get into many details into those, otherwise the review would be too long.
Anyways, episode is still getting a good score, since the whole prequel hate on Ewan was totally unfair, and he doesn't deserve this again. Ewan, if you are reading this, your performance was 10/10. My vote here is 7/10, but I guess a 6/10 is the deserved score here. Next episodes should be more like ep I. Sincerely, I hope it improves.
The Good Doctor: My Way (2022)
Men making suggestions = sexism?
Most of the reviews already covered it. Lea and Jordan create a new project then procced to ask Glassman about suggestions.
Then the man, that is a known, experienced brain surgeon and hospital leader, tell them in a kinda "I know better you should do this and that to get this going". Yea, it is a bit arrogant, but it is not because they're woman, and he even says that in the damn episode, like if it were 2 man here it would be the same thing.
I even thought that would be the reverse plot on the leftist agenda, but oh boy I was wrong. Reznick comes after Glassman lately saying he was sexist, mansplaining and all that, and by the mere fact that he was disagreeing with her was just confirming all of her claims. Well, guess this is what it is nowadays: if you are called a sexist, you must stay quiet, otherwise (if you oppose) it just confirms the allegation. This is just sad and dull.
This show has been decreasing it's quality a lot, but it is still watchable thanks to Murphy and the early hospital crew. However, I'd suggest that you fire the damn writer who got out of a Instagram leftist trend and then wrote those wokeist lines to this episode.
Please stop this political forced, free male bashing non sense.
Family Guy: The Lois Quagmire (2022)
Laughed the whole episode
Both plots on this episode were really funny. I've had some complaints about family guy quality lately, but this one even reminds me of the golden family guy era.
I'm surprised the rating are kinda low here, I was expecting this episode to have at least 7,5-8. It's not politically correct, like some recent family guy has been. The jokes are original and fresh, also no 1-2 minutes annoying random clips to bother who is watchin, which also has been present on recent family guy episodes.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor (2022)
Another masterpiece, but people want to attack Rodriguez.
I guess that is what internet is nowadays, people urging to attack someone on a mob way. I have written this in a past episode review, and I'll repeat: I don't know who Robert Rodriguez is and I don't want to, I'm here for Star Wars.
Why people are mixing their hate towards this dude with Star Wars content? Seriously, the episode was magical. Mando and Grogu reunion, Boba x Bane, the Rancor in action, the shielded droids attacking a la droidekas from the prequels, Mando and Boba fighting side by side, Krsantan kicking 4ss. Seriously, what else could you possibly ask?
"OHH BUT THE BIKERS GANG AND THEIR COLORFUL BIKES DOESN'T FIT STAR WARS"... Dude, this reminds me of Jar Jar Binks hate. The character had like little screen time (okay, in Phantom Menace he had a little more) but people bash the prequels (which I think are great) mostly because of him. It's like you are focusing on the 5% of the bad part. If this isn't hating, I don't know what is.
Also, a youtuber which I appreciate, Mr. Star Wars Theory, criticized the episode for Boba not calling his ship to handle the whole thing and how this "doesn't make sense". Oh, man... Anyone who have watched the whole Star Wars saga know many things could be "handled" quickly due to excessive powers like death star, etc, etc. But yea, if it would be that way, there would be no movies, right? Even if it's a subjective opinion, which is not valid, cause it would be just like stating "Oh, I think Obi-Wan and Yoda should have dueled Palpatine and Anakin in a 2x2 way on ep. III". Ok, you might think that, but it wasn't executed this way, which doesn't mean it's bad.
Again, we had so many great things on this season, and the finale too: Bane, Grogu, Mando, Fett, Bane, Fennec, Rancor, Gamorran Guards, Krsantan. Dude, this is 100% Star Wars lore, backed up with Favreau writing which, for me, is the best possible thing that could occur.
I feel really sorry for this people bashing the show here. Guess their short memory forgot about what we got in a recent past, maybe that Poe line is a good start: "Somehow Palpatine has returned". This is poor Star Wars, folks. Remember it.
About the series and the episode: I loved every minute of it, since the Tusken backstory to the end. The new characters were mostly likeable either. Keep executing this flawless job. I'm excited for season 2.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa (2022)
I don't get the hate. The episode was AWESOME.
People here talk more about the director of the episode than the episode itself. I don't know who is this guy and don't even want to. I'm here for Star Wars, but looks like he got a lot of "enemies" on the internet.
"Rodriguez this, Rodriguez that"...
Jesus christ, folks
Also, people talk about pacing and how slow it is. I found the pace and the story really good and balanced. I also get that is hard to please people on TV these days, it's all about superhero movies with a lot of time dimensions, universes, world ending and stuff like that. Seriously a "micro-story" like Boba Fett on Mos Espa or his past with the Tuskens will bore this people. They want to see planets exploding, 900000 ships x 5000000 ships, and "someone having to save the world from some nuclear or bioweapon or any threat like that" every 30 minutes.
People keep talking about Boba Fett got his 9ss kicked and how this "sucks". Lol, the main character have to always win aight kids? Guess you deserve Rey "Mary Sue" on your screen beating everybody everytime and being overpowered. Now that is entertaining right, folks? A "never lose" main character.
I'm not surprised tho, Star Wars fan base was always like this. I'm actually used to it, George Lucas should make more episodes after RoTS, unfortunately dudes bashed him so hard, so we got a looong time without Star Wars and after that those Disney disaster movies. I hope this doesn't happen again with the good writers of these days, Filoni and Favreau.
About the episode: it was outstanding. All actors had good performances, some unexpected plot twist, a lot of Star Wars lore from the old times. I loved it. Wish I could write more, but this is a no spoiler review. Go check it out!
Power Book III: Raising Kanan (2021)
I love the Power universe!
Just finished the tenth episode of the first season, and I have to say: oh boy, what a show!
With a strong female lead (Kanan's mother), Raising Kanan builds a lot on Kanan and Jukebox young age history.
Very nice writing involving police, gangs and the struggles on their family life. I genuinely liked all the actors, especially Famous, lol that guy is funny. The girls singing is awesome. The captain of the police is very good. Kanan's mom and her brothers are also fire. And the list goes on. I'm very positively impressed with the overall quality.
Unfortunately, a lot of people liked Power just because Ghost and Tommy. It's not my case. I liked Raising Kanan, Taric's show and ofc the original Power, the style of this series is something unique. I hope the power universe never stops expanding, looking forward for stories and backgrounds on almost every character.
Congratulations for doing this, people! Much love from a brazilian fan!
Star Wars: Visions: The Duel (2021)
Beautiful
Loved the black and white template with the colored lightsabers. Also, very nice combat and choreography.
One thing I didn't like much is the "10-in-1 lightsaber", but it didn't change the episode quality.
Awesome atmosphere on the whole episode. 10/10!
Star Wars: Visions: The Ninth Jedi (2021)
Unexpected plot twist
Won't give any spoilers here.
I'm writing reviews to almost every episode of Visions, I can say this is the one that me pleased me the most about the story and the combat.
Really unexpected turn of events on this one! Like many others have said, I also want more of this story. Could potentially turn into a miniseries or something like that. Well done! 10/10.
Star Wars: Visions: Lop & Ochô (2021)
Family
Original Star Wars inspiration, a story about father and daughters.
I got really emotional when the father gave the lightsaber to his daughter, a well built scene. Good dialogue, good symbology.
Also, the overall animation on the city/backgrounds was outstanding on this one (way better than the others I've seen from Visions). Combat was also cool.
It's on my top 3 episodes of Visions, alongside with the first one and the Ninth Jedi. Really well done guys! 10/10!!
Star Wars: Visions: The Elder (2021)
Nice philosophical touch
I don't get why people are complaining about the writing/dialogue on other reviews. I loved the philosophical touch at the dialogues on this episode. It's not anything complex (and it can't be on a 15 minute episode), but it's simple and sufficient. Doesn't feel forced or anything. I really liked the bad guy talking about why Sith became extinct, and the final part when the master tell the padawan about the impermanence of things. Certainly an eastern philosophy touch on this (the jedi philosophy on main Star Wars movies is inspired on buddhism as far as I know).
One thing I really don't like is the "sword" lightsaber, seems kinda pointless. Just go for the normal lightsaber, lol. But it didn't affect the episode quality. 10/10!
Star Wars: Visions: T0-B1 (2021)
Not even the lightsaber ignition sound is correct
The animation and the story looks like a mixed Nintendo 64 with Star Wars elements. I'm not here to hate or anything, I actually enjoyed almost every other episode of "Visions" series, even the band/pod racing one. But this one just won't do it for me. Looks like the people behind it doesn't even know how Star Wars works.
When the master called the kid his padawan, he moved the lightsaber on the kids shoulders left and right, looking like some modern religion thing. After the kid beat the sith with the help of the little ones he was laying on the floor and gave them a sort of "thumbs up" (don't know how to name that hand signal in english). Seriously?
Looks like anything with lightsaber, jedi and clones can be called "Star Wars" nowadays
I'll give it 4 stars for some cleverness in the dialogues here and there, and for the innovation on the anime Star Wars thing.
All American: The Bigger Picture (2021)
Is this a CNN coverage of recent social justice protest or a TV series?
I really enjoyed this show for the storyline of the first seasons: school, football, brotherhood, family and all that stuff.
However, like many other shows nowadays it took a really bad turn. Who knows the reason for that? Maybe writers are out of new ideas and just want to exploit the new social justice events.
It's kinda lame when episodes of a football oriented TV series take like 70%+ of the time on this social justice thing. I'm not saying it's unimportant, I'm just saying it's not the place for that much! Of course you can mention it or even have a side storyline or something like that, but it's like the whole thing nowadays...
Also, they show an extremely biased point of view. Someone without clear politics knowledge will watch this and think *ALL* the police is bad or racist, which is obviously not true.
More to the point, the mental health/addiction thing scenes are taking too much time. Again: I know this is important stuff, but at a personal level, right? I mean no one want to watch my 1 hour session with my shrink, right?
The same applies for the recent episodes that shows characters with personal problems talking to their families/shrinks for a long time.
I'd like to watch some storyline with football, family, life decisions and this kind of stuff. Sadly, lately looks like I've been watching some CNN coverage of recent social justice event or some endless drama of an addict.
Power Book II: Ghost: Good vs. Evil (2020)
Another great episode
I can't get why people who used to love Power don't like this show.
I mean I loved Power because of the top tier writing and no political correctness bulls**t, not only because Tommy or Ghost. Yea, they are both great actors, so is Tariq and the new cast. The new family with Cane, Dru, Diana, Monet and Lorenzo are awesome. The cop involved with Monet, the lawyer Dave and his assistant are also very good.
The fact that people aren't liking this show just because the main characters of the previous one aren't on it is a huge negative surprise to me. TV shows are about stories, not about someone there you start to like then you "accept" the rest of the thing. I mean, these people don't like Power anymore even if it's still great.
Well, guess I made my point here. I hope this show ratings get great so Courtney A. Kemp, 50 Cent keep producing Power. It's one of the best shows I've ever seen.
Family Guy: The Talented Mr. Stewie (2020)
Fix this please
First of all, I don't want this show to end. The last seasons weren't as good as the previous ones, but some episodes still makes me laugh. I hate "political correctness" but I don't think this is the only thing to blame. The show still have some dark jokes, most of them aren't funny or just feel out of place.
Family guy was never about just offending people and things like that. Of course the show had real dark humour, but the cutaways were always fun, the core of the characters were always nice (evil baby stewie, sex maniac quagmire, and the list goes on..). You can't see any of that nowadays. The cutaways aren't funny, the characters act randomly. Its just sad.
Most of the jokes talk about Hollywood celebrities/people I have never heard about. Writers must get out of their own bubble and write things for common people to have audience. Their internal jokes about people only they and some friends know is just a bad idea.
I always get excited to see new family guy episodes, but when I watched this episode I got my phone before the first 10 minutes. I've watched a lot of episodes that aren't the most funny ones, but they still keep me hooked for the whole thing: story, characters...
You can breakdown the whole thing and see that it doesn't make much sense: for example, the first part Lois talking with Stewie about cookies and his mini dinner - it wasn't funny, it didn't contribute to the story. So what was the point? Other example, Stewie telling Brian "avoid India" and Brian answers "Really?" and then goes to another scene? What the.... Looks like people producing it are just lazy "ok we have to fill 20 minutes and we got nothing else, just throw something there and it's done".
Long story short: it can still be saved. Just people who love the thing to produce/write.
Family Guy: Better Off Meg (2020)
Signals of FG's end just come stronger
Like the other person said in the review, it's just too forced it's not even funny. How the fk ignoring the own daughters death is laughable? I know FG humour is dark and everything, and I really love politically incorrect things. But damn, this is just, I don't even know how to describe. Maybe dumb.
Also the reuse of old stuff is just getting weird, every episode is just like 1 minute of old clips on the screen time. Next season just go for an episode "this is a highlight of old stuff" and it would come like something cleaner than what you're actually doing.
I don't follow much the change on the producers or which company bought the rights and all that stuff, but whoever is in charge of the whole thing doesn't fit the old family guy we all love.
Family Guy: Rich Old Stewie (2020)
Am I the only one who is tired of this?
All the new episodes of family guy are a mix between celebrities/celebrities life jokes and olf stuff. Like on this episode when Stewie gets the reward and gets interrupted while he is speaking, and keep telling jokes with celebrities names most people are unfamiliar with. Every episode have a reference of things that was previously shown on family guy, like our new stuff sucks so at every 5 mins of show we will give u something old.
I really love family guy, but the last episodes and seasons are really bad. Miss the old days with the dark humor and jokes/situations u can relate to. Nowadays, is just this bull crap I already described.
Family Guy: Absolutely Babulous (2019)
Anything below 8 rating is pure hate here
This episode was awesome. Compared to other recent episodes, there was no repetition of jokes, the story was well built and a lot of original stuff and laughs relating to the "past characters" (just like Stewie burning his bedroom). I loved it. 10/10
Jeff & Some Aliens (2017)
Really fun show
The show is so well written. It brings a lot of stereotypes like Jeffs ukrainian neighborhood, his boss who is a complete jerk.
I watched 3 episodes so far and I cried laughing on two of them. Its really a good show and worth some time spending. Way better than recently episodes of Family Guy that kinda lost its way, or Rick N Morty which I think is getting kinda of repetitive.
