Long Lost Family: Episode #1.2 (2011)

Profoundly moving
19 August 2022
This is my favourite episode among several. Mainly because the father son story hits very close to home. No matter how often I watch this I cry like a baby.

It is good however because it tells me that even at my age this wound will never completely heal. It is something one lives with and accepts. But I know that I am not alone and when I see how Shaun and Wayne's faces change from anger, despair, pain to smiles, love and peace it gives me hope and comfort. I see how guarded Wayne is terrified to be hurt and disappointed masked by his military machismo, difficult for him to let go and relax but ultimately he is like someone transformed.

I have no illusions, they can never make up for the lost time. Childhood can never be caught up or made right. The most one can hope for with these two men is closure of the past and some of the wounds and hopefully build some present relationship based on affection, love and mutual respect.

On another point though...... Human beings are vulnerable and weak especially faced with their own sexuality. Aside from the brutal haranguing of religion preaching hell fire and damnation there was no sensible teaching of responsibility and the consequences of one's actions.

It is a dilemma but the fact is that had people been more responsible and educated to the realities of acting out on their sexual passions there would not have been tens of thousands of poor unfortunate babies born into such unhappy circumstances.

This is not a "moral" judgement just a rational and logical fact. It is the curious nature of the human being and especially a child or teenager that the more you forbid and threaten the more they will do the opposite.

But people basically are irresponsible which is why in the past 60 years the world population has well more than doubled without thought to the consequences to the planet, the society or the innocent children brought into a world of societies that can barely sustain them.

Amazed to read at another site how many people watch this but don't pay attention or really hear what is said. Especially regarding the mother and her mixed race boy.

It was a brutal decision she had to make. Whether we agree or not it was the man's choice to not want another man's baby especially being mixed race at a time when it would have been very difficult in society. The challenges would have been horrific in a village or small town.

She could not have raised the boy alone in her circumstances. Single mothers with illegitimate children were not accepted in society in most places at that time. I suspect even the adoptive parents broke up ultimately because mixed race marriages at that time were not common and little accepted. In the deep south of the usa such relationships and marriages were illegal and they could easily be shot dead if they were in public.

Unless you lived through those times and knew personally how people thought and reacted you cannot understand. But some attempt at compassion and empathy here would be recommended to those of you who seem unconscious to reality.

Mind numbing
5 February 2020
Worthy of Hollywood and the dumbing down agenda of the USA cinema and tele industry. I had to struggle during the first 30 minutes until I felt my brain melting from the sheer stupidity and low character of every acted role. I cannot believe that anyone could find the reprehensible behaviour and ill will of the entire cast. Classic stereotypes. Brits are morons. A nation of shopkeepers. Australians and Latin nations are dishonest thieves. Homosexuals are sex crazed, dizzy queen drug users and pushers. No one cares a flying F for anyone. Marco was unbelievably naive but what Will and the others did was appalling and deserved the gallows. With such people afoot I dread the future of western society. No wonder it is being made so easy for violent factions to overtake our societies, especially in the UK.

Written by morons for morons

This could have been entertaining and intelligent but that is too much to expect from Hollywood. It proves yet again how many people in the USA have money to burn and pay everyone obscene salaries for rubbish and something that is not really work.

L'onore e il rispetto: Episode #4.4 (2015)

Reprehensible and Irresponsible message
6 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers ......

If this were a film in Italy 1940's I might understand even if I hated it. But for 2015 it continues to deliver the worst message to young men and to the religion brainwashed people of Italy and other countries who will see this.

It is known by me since more than 40 years the double standard of the macho men in Latin countries. They marry, have children AND have mistress and men on the side. These good catholic married men go to find sex with other men like themselves in toilets, parks and the dunes of the beaches. The majority do this. I know from personal experience.

That the Victorious in this episode are the brutal, savage and barbaric supporting this cultural mentality is beyond my comprehension.

The message being always the same, the headline and teachings of the bloody degenerate catholic church, itself a total fraud and hypocrisy, that homosexuals are unnatural, beasts and should/ must die.

The murder of these two fine and beautiful young men by their fathers is so grotesque I can hardly find words. At least if in the same night IF the mother had murdered her daughter, husband and the father of Daniele it would have been some consolation.

But still no justification. These episodes were produced by and the script written by hateful demented people whose own hatred, ignorance and bigotry are evident.

The lads should have escaped to New York. That would have been in keeping with the present and future. What was shown was savage and against all morality of the present time not to mention EU conventions.

It was also illogical. These young men would not have stopped but driven as fast and hard right through those two hate filled men. Any intelligent person would have because they would have known the danger from men who only know violence.

So it seems that secretly and inwardly Italy is still a fascist country in heart and soul. Otherwise such a story line could not be accepted. Homosexuals were sent to concentration camps, gassed and burned from Italy by the fascists. These brutal and mindless murders have nothing to do with Mafia honour or respect. Quite the opposite and I think even the real Mafia would not feel what these men did was honourable. I have known many of the Mafia and their families in my life in the USA.

I am sorry such a series could be aired and successful, ashamed of the actors that accepted such a script and saddened about Italy which I loved and where I once lived for a time and feel nothing but contempt for the makers of these episodes especially.

Notes from the Heart Healer (2012 TV Movie)
5/10
May contain spoiler ...... Confrontational, flawed and idealistic
30 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This story from the writing is in so many cases seriously flawed. There are numerous welfare programs to help people like her to survive before they fall to such a desperate situation, especially as she is willing to work. That she is not on time for her work is not really explained. Many people are irresponsible and don't accept consequences for their actions. Also chronic lateness is an unconscious act of hostility. Understandable but it also is self sabotage. Such things can happen but they do not explain this to us.

It is a tragic series of events and all the parents prove they never should have had children as they are unable to be there for the young ones and in fact do nothing but punish them for their unwise but not criminal actions. If you become a parent you are in it for the long haul. The philosophy of 18 and your on your own is sick quite frankly. Yes Zack and Violet were foolish to get pregnant especially in this era. It is not the 1950's where sexual ignorance reigned supreme in America thanks to religion. But Zack we are led to believe was intelligent and educated, not a bumpkin. He certainly could have found more options than the military, especially at a time when his country was happily making phony wars and getting young men killed for nothing.

Zack's father should NOT have been angry at Violet, not his concept of a deity but at his country's government who blithely sends their young men to die for the profit and wealth of a few.

While Payton's story is sad it does not justify her actions. She seems hard and selfish. Also her marriage is not healthy if she feels it necessary to lie to her husband who clearly is a kind, generous, loving and understanding man. She has serious issues, OK,

BUT.. NO ONE SHOULD USE A CHILD TO HEAL THEIR WOUNDS AND MISTAKES.

What is to me typically usamerican is how the authority and laws abuse and victimise the victims. There is no compassion, sympathy or empathy in that land. Certainly there is among some individuals.

But authority first they haul you off in handcuffs to increase the shame and humiliation. There is no distinction between real criminals and people who are in Crisis.

DON'T EVER CALL A HOTLINE if you are depressed. You will have the police at the door and they will leave you sitting for hours handcuffed to something until a police psychiatrist arrives. Usually someone who should themselves be in a mental hospital. Then you will be taken to some institution to determine whether you are suicidal or not. If you cannot talk your way out of it they will lock you up and drug you during 72 hours. If you DO talk your way out of it they will make you sign many forms without you understanding anything having detained you during at least 10 hours to the point of exhaustion.

And even after you have told them you have no money or health insurance they will send you a Bill for upwards of 1500 to 5000 dollars.

When you cannot pay they will then set the law and collection agencies on you worsening your situation. At which point some people actually are then driven to commit suicide which they would not have done had they never called the hot-line.

All because you were depressed, lonely and tired hoping for a friendly voice.

If you do ring a hot-line make sure the number is hidden or not traceable. It is a bullying nation who bullies the world and its own.

It all comes right as such films do but that is not real life, unfortunately.

The acting was OK. Well filmed. Supposed to be USA but actually is Canada with the beauty and harmony of the Canadian landscape

Dear Friend (2011)
5/10
May be a spoiler??
9 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This was very good to see. It was somehow incomplete. The end was for me not good. It was sweet but nothing is resolved. Yes, it seems they will go on being friends but there were far too many unanswered questions and unresolved issues. I read some critiques at another web page and all were similar. This is an old recipe with nothing new. It could have told much more. One person said it was good but a failed opportunity. I would agree.

For someone my age it is much easier to fill in the missing information because I was the same age in 1965. And it was equally terrible in America as in England although culturally where these lads were it was perhaps much harder than for me in Manhattan and Los Angeles. Furthermore, it would have been very, very rare if not unthinkable back then for anyone to have the courage of Christian either in UK or the USA. On this planet homosexuality was not only condemned universally but in most countries illegal with severe punishments and brutality. The maker of the film should have realized this fact. This film is being seen around the world thanks to internet but mostly by people who have no idea how brutal life was for homosexuals in the UK .

Possibly also the English is very difficult for people who have English as a second or third language. English is my mother language and I understand all of their speech but that is only due to years of experience. There are a number of accents for English that are quite challenging to understand. A film maker for a World Market needs now to consider these details.
