Give it a chance-I'm glad I did!
scharfhunter12 December 2019
While other viewers may have been underwhelmed, I think investing the time in this series has paid off, at least in terms of world-building. The characters are sometimes flat, and backstories of the most interesting characters have yet to appear, but the creatures and fairy concepts in this story are interesting and original. There's a slow build, but plot lines are coming together nicely here toward the end, showing us that humans are always human-for good and for evil-no matter what universe in which they're placed. I'm hopeful that the most interesting bits are yet to come.

Too much whining and crying about bringing death to everyone, ugh!
rasheedjayo1 June 2021
Marlia whine's about almost everything in this series and she is way too obsessed about veronica, always running after her in every episode.

Whiny self loathing
BoutTime1312 April 2021
I've never watched such incessant whining, complaining, and complete lack of self confidence throughout an entire series. The potential was there and this show could have been really fun and entertaining to watch. Instead, all common sense and logic is continuously thrown by the wayside and self pity parties are thrown almost every episode. From the OP characters that seem strong enough to conquer the world getting taken out by a random character or left for some completely ridiculous code of honor is just plain stupid. My eyes were so sore from all the rolling these weak characters managed to make the most simple of tasks into impossible dilemmas was truly nauseating. Don't forget the childish dialogue that has the depth of a puddle and sounds more like grade school children arguing that heroes fighting for a just cause. Combine all these atrocities with constant weak plot holes and overly dramatic rantings of literally every character puts this excrement at the top of the dung heap that is today's version of anime. Only saving grace is this looks to be the only season and hopefully enough warnings have been written to save others from this abysmal, time wasting, failure. I truly feel like a victim that should be compensated somehow for watching this drivel it was so horrific.

Unoriginal
maxenen21 April 2019
It's about a little girl in her 20s finding her model friend that's about 25 that fight about fairys with a ''badass'' veteran that's 28. Its a silly series, its action and plot is meh. Don't recommend.

The best anime I have ever watched
bobdaduck23 February 2020
Many people used to more My hero Academia-style storylines will find Fairy Gone's plot to be much more intricate than what they are used to. Its pacing is fast and it leaves a lot of blanks at first- it fills these in in extremely satisfying ways later. this is not a 'punch 'em up' anime-

This is an anime about war.

Its about how war affects people- its about politics, its about what people do when their side loses, how they choose their values, how they pursue their values. I did really enjoy the fighting sequences- its beautifully animated with incredible character designs, but the fighting is supposed to be storytelling, not just conflict resolution. Its unlike anything I've ever seen, and set a new standard for me in anime. Every character becomes incredibly complex (yes, even the at first weak main character) and all plot arcs resolve in the second season in a believable and impressively satisfying fashion.

Its so good I've watched both seasons twice since its come out. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but those who do prefer to put a little work into their show watching are in for a very, very rewarding experience.

Side note, I'm Christian, and deeply appreciated that the show had little to no objectionable content. It felt like they were able to make a dark and mature show, without trying to "force" it through arbitrary and often empty vulgarity the way so many shows do.

Boring, uninspiring, annoying, waste of time
noefaz815 November 2023
I tried to watch this but only made it to episode 7 before giving up. My gosh this was a tough watch. It had potential but quickly it lost me from the start. They jumped locations and to different years in the history that it was difficult to keep track of. I gave up cause all the names of the cities and places visited as well as when it took place was jumping multiple times within a single episode it felt rushed. The characters were colorless and weakly written. There was little depth in anyone and the main characters were nothing I could get exited for and cheer them on for their successes or failures. That's how out of touch they wrote them and presented them. Maybe it gets better but I can't do it. This is only the second show I've ever quit and that's saying a lot. I tend to finish them even if I dislike them a little cause at least the other shows give me a hint there's more to come and the potential to win me over. This one just made me yawn and I never expected to be thrilled during the episode since it was so flat. Even the action was barely noticeable. Good luck watching and drink coffee cause aside from the fairy part there's no real story here and you'll likely be bored. That is unless you read the reviews that are way off base and are likely fake. Giving this a 10/10 is a joke.

I want a fairy
winniecam6 April 2022
Read some of the reviews, some nice, some not so nice but I LOVED it!!!it's about friendship and revenge...it's about power and evil that dwells in some people that makes them do horrible things to other people... I love Marlya's fairy.

Just found it was underwhelming.....
Irishchatter14 April 2019
So after watching 2 episodes, I thought the series was just rather boring and decide to drop it. I like dark anime but this one wasn't at all truly dark in a way. I just felt the story was all over the place and unoriginal.

Keep going if you're a big fan of the series and don't mind my review but that's how I felt..

Awful. The lead character is dumb as a 5 year old child and sounds like one.
snikers-0437517 February 2020
Don't waste you time on this crybaby show, is all about a morons feelings, who obvious is to weak to do what she end up doing. Marlia cries atleast 5 times every episode and sound like a child. The writer clearly don't know s*** about feelings/psykology, made pritty clear by the way he portrays the lead character, who is dumb, childish, weining all the time. NOT A HERO, JUST A CRYING LOOSER. Don't make a show about feelings, when you don't know anything about it. Dumba**.

Very good, wish there was more like it

Warning: Spoilers
It isn't often a show grips me and keeps me wanting to find out what happens next, and this one truly did. I think this is a great anime and worth the 24 episode investment. I loved the character development and political intrigue. I also really like the ending segues into credit from a music and feeling standpoint. I believe this anime took a different direction than other anime and did a good job of it. Only gripes would be wanting to see more of the fairies or explore that a bit more. Also got a bit lost on the various characters untile over halfway through. However, overall well done and hoping I can see more like this one in the future.

I really enjoyed it
jessikajayne24 November 2021
I hope we get another season so we can have more info on Marlia and her ability at the end.

Great for fantasy lovers.

Not the kind of fairies you are thinking of, more of a ghost like creature.

I would consider it a kinda dark fantasy not as dark as children of the whales but more adult oriented.
