When Faith is at work
Anamorisabel24 February 2021
I totally loved this episode as I can relate to what this is all about: thinking all is over but then when you least expect it, It happens and you are blown away every single time. Dallas Jenkins, in the behind the scene testimonies mentioned several times Things Happening for the sake of this serie. What is mind blowing is that it is always far better than we could have ever imagined in our wildest dream which is why it is clear we cannot take the credit for it. I love his humility as he acknowledges what has been going on. Since neither the Filmmaker nor the artists are doing this project seeking fame but from a place of Faith it makes such a difference in the result. I have never seen anything like this and I feel so privileged to have been able to watch all the episodes of Serie 1....I cannot wait for the serie 2 and the ones that follow.

Filled with the Holy Spriit

This is truly the most extraordinary accomplishment. Amazing, wondrous and beautiful. Scripturally accurate, it brings the viewer masterfully into all of the complex human emotions of the people with and around Jesus, bringing the most incredible detail to life.

I was nervous about watching it at first, but it is clear that many years of prayer and hard work by truly Spirit filled people have gone into creating The Chosen and it really shines through. Even my kids love it!

Do not even hesitate to watch this show. It will blow your mind, lift your heart and fill you joy.

It is truly a must watch!

The basic virtue of this episode is to be amazing. You know the story but the morning fishing is so impressive, admirable and precise crafted, wise used detail by detail than it was, in my case, impossible to not cry. The feeling to be more than a good/ different series about The Savior is more than confirmed. Because the profound honesty about small details of familiar story, the fresh perspective, respecting the Gospels are confirmed by the fair acting. A film about people discovering Messiah as the profound , so long expected truth.

Apostles

I've been an avid Bible student since I was 21 years old. Prior to that I lived my life without caring what my Creator thought about my choices. My Bible study has only increased in the over the 40 years since I first started reading the Gospel accounts.

I know the Bible very well and am thoroughly enjoying The Chosen series. Naturally, since I am so familiar with the Bible account, I have some opinions about this series. I believe it is important to point out that less than 10% of each episode of The Chosen is actually from the Bible accounts. Ninety percent of these episodes are embellishments; the producer's ideas of how the Bible characters may have spoken, looked and acted, beyond what is written in the Bible. I have no problem with those embellishments. As a matter of fact, I appreciate and enjoy much of the non-biblical inventions by the writers of this series.

I would like to speak about the good and the not so good embellishments created by the writers of this series. I hope you will not be offended by my critique.

Episode 4 - Andrew, John, James and Simon Peter are called. This episode is focused on Simon Peter's dilemma with his taxes and the Roman ruler Quintus. It is all embellishment until the end of the episode. The writers of this series are to be commended for inventing these stories which make the Apostles real people with real issues. Unfortunately, this episode contradicts the Bible, specifically Luke 5:10 which states that Simon Peter and the Zebedees were partners, so Simon Peter would not make the deal with Rome as depicted in the narrative here.

Biblical content in this episode; 5% Luke 5:1-11.

The Chosen is watchable.

Warning: Spoilers
I thought The Chosen would be another low budget series trying to cash in on the Christian market. I let my wife watch the first few episodes while I listened to the series as back ground noise. When The Rock on Which it is Built was on I started to watch. Good budget, character development, of many biblical stories I listen to during Catechism. What makes the series different from other Christian series was the view points of different character's sub stories transform into the biblical story. The story of cast the nets another time you will be a fisherman of men had a new meaning for myself. My question I have during my faith journey the disciples also had! The disciples had jobs, family, responsibilities and Jesus said come follow me. Trust me! Have faith. There was no answers or plans, just the disciples giving true faith into the Messiah. The Rock on Which it is Built got me hooked on a series and I am not a fan of series, but I will watch the chosen! 9 stars.

Too cheesy and illogical

Warning: Spoilers
My overall rating of "The chosen"'s Season 1: 4/10.

After the previous boring but largely inoffensive filler episode, we return to the main storyline. Here we're once again treated to some unconvincing acting, making this episode possibly the worst of the season - at least "I have called you by name", the pilot episode, had Simon give a better performance than this time, when he doesn't quite pull through. Even Quintus and Matthew don't quite save this episode. Speaking of them, what on earth is going on with Quintus' plan?! So Simon had the boat with the Romans run aground, potentially as an act of betrayal, and they couldn't continue the search that night. Then Quintus tells Matthew to spy on Simon, but also simultaneously sets such a short deadline for him to pay off his debt. What? How does that help him? What is the benefit of Matthew's spying, other than to conveniently have him witness Jesus' miracle?

There is also a lot of cheesiness and strangeness: the miracle scene is poorly done and completely at odds with how it's described later on in the series (the second boat is far away, and all the fish is loaded on one boat in one go, and it's, frankly, not _that_ much fish)... Jesus' tiny congregation apparently has some trouble hearing him, but him speaking even more quietly on the boat solves the issue?.. His congregation also is mistaken for Romans, somehow, when you'd think the Roman soldiers look so distinctive with their red tunics and shiny metal armours that it'd be impossible to confuse them with anything... Also, there's too much boring stuff: from Simon's scene with his family to his overlong and unsuccessful fishing.
