Warning: Spoilers
One of the main reasons this episode worked well was the solid performances we saw from the cast. It was all character this episode and not so much the story. A really tricky part as the Winchesters try to lock Jack up in the box. Strong performances from all our cast showed how trust and family can be important but also sometimes dangerous. With Jack now deceived and not on the opposite side this will make for interesting viewing. We've always seen the traditional all new villain emerge each season but we now have a delicate situation. How ironic would it be for the greatest foe to be someone who was once a Winchester. I really hope the writers run with this as they have a good basis with Jack having no soul to killing Mary. He could be a different kind of foe that doesn't need to be in heaven or hell, he could be his own unique brand.

A tool gets used
StorieLuver19 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Bambi Boy has been nothing but a naive fool since his introduction and a convenient deus-ex-machina for the writers. As Dean said it in the previous episode, he's simply the boys' "Get Out of Jail Free" card. To see Jack get played so easily by EVERYONE in this episode (angels, Lucifer, even the Winchesters themselves) just underscores how much of a tool he is and always has been. Unfortunately, he is also an extremely powerful tool, which makes for an incredibly dangerous combination. A lot of people were upset when Mary berated him at the end of "Game Night," saying it wasn't fair for her to blame him when she and her family are also killers. However, one major difference was skipped over: Jack killed Nick with a THOUGHT, while regular folk like the Winchesters use weapons. Mary wasn't scolding Jack for the kill, but for the WAY he killed. She didn't get the time to explain it well, but her real problem was Bambi's inability to control his powers (which we had already seen in "Don't Go Into the Woods," where he accidentally stabbed his new friend). The bottom line is Jack is doubly dangerous to everyone, himself included, because of both his powers and his cluelessness, and if he gets put down next episode, I will be fine with that.

Jack Will Always Be Family
taraangel-4096023 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Poor Jack. Jack and Castiel have been my favorite cast members for a while now. You don't do what Dean did to Jack to a family member. Jack can be saved, I believe that both Castiel and Sam know that. And now that Chuck is returning in the next episode, even more-so. Mary never really seemed to want to be a part of her son's lives. Remember when she first returned she was working for the enemy, the British Men of Letters. (One user has called her 'an absentee alcoholic' mother.) I quite agree with that statement. Jack has always been there for them. Mary seemed to forget that they even existed for long periods of time. If there was a villain in this episode, it was not Jack, but Duma, a manipulative 'angel' using Jack, lying to him, in order to take more power for herself. Jack's 'failing' is that he is young and trusting. I want him back!

This episode is too sour and too cruel for the characters
CubsandCulture8 November 2021
This might be my own baggage around confinement but the decision to lock Jack in the box and what the box means-practically-is far too cruel and far too intense for the emotions the characters are going through. It is especially so because of Dean's ultimate decision in this season. It makes very little emotional or practical logic that the Winchesters-Sam especially-would be willing to condemn Jack to a fate worse than death.

Second, the let's make angels! Thing never ever goes anywhere of note and I think the main problem of the episode could have been smoothed over if the was more material dramatizing the debate between the Winchesters vis-a-vis the box.

Do they not screen test these episodes!

Warning: Spoilers
Very irritating episode. Jack is one of the most endearing characters and Sam and Dean turn into one dimensional eggheads. They never give up on themselves but gave up on Jack. At least Cas is still the man.

Worst episode of the entire 14 seasons!

Warning: Spoilers
I have left nothing but glowing reviews and positive ratings on this show. But I'm starting to understand why the series ended not long after this. It seems the writers are having trouble coming up with new content. First of all, Lucifer in someone's head again? Why! Lucifer is a tired character already, and on top of that we played the "Lucifer in Sam's head" to death already and now Jack. It's predictable and the dialogue goes on for too long. On another note, I think it's unfair how Jack gets treated. I had to take a long break from SPN after this episode because of how heartbreaking it was.

I loved this show! I was addicted! I waited every new series with impatience! I am very disappointed now! The last few series are stupid, boring and irritating! Goodbye Supernatural. Please do not make a new season. Everything is ruined.
