- Some mild innuendo. There is a reference to the protagonist spending some "private time" with his wife. An older woman flirts with the protagonist. A gay character sees the painting of a half-naked man and jokingly mentions that the house owner's tastes must be similar to his own. A few minor married characters are implied to have (or to be pursuing) an affair or to frequent prostitutes. A male model poses before a group of painters (we see his bare rear).

- The game is never particularly graphic but deals with mature topics. Murder, torture and various crimes are regularly discussed. We see several corpses. One of the locations the player has to visit is a morgue: we see body parts and anatomical diagrams.

- The protagonist takes sleep medications after a traumatic event; it is mentioned several times they are making him less effective as a detective.
- Many references to drinking alcohol. The protagonist himself gets drunk at one point.

- It is very heavily implied that a few characters are gay, including the protagonist's friend and colleague Bill. Another character mentions that his marriage is just a façade to save his reputation.
- One of the cases involves a brothel. Although no nudity or sex are depicted, there are many discussions about characters frequenting prostitutes.
Violence & Gore
- In the prologue, the protagonist's best friend falls from a roof and dies (the protagonist kneels next to his corpse, there is some blood).
- One of the cases follows a serial killer who writes messages with the blood of his victims.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
- The protagonist hears his best friend's voice throughout the game after the latter is killed in the prologue. The situation is mostly played for humor but is also shown to be causing him distress, leading to substance addiction and a troubled relationship with his wife.
