If the Three Stooges did an "R" Rated Show
rebsothoth29 April 2019
I am not a huge fan of action scenes; I tend to tune out and do other things as soon as actors stop talking. This episode of "Barry" was almost pure action, and I couldn't stop watching - and laughing! Like most episodes so far, there was still the sense that Barry wanted to stop his violent ways, but things go impossibly wrong leading to a literally unbelievable situation. The stunt-work in the episode was amazing, like watching a horror-themed comic book come to life. Somehow, during all the chaos, they still managed a touch of actual character development. Even with the dark theme of the episode, the over-the-top moments made it seem lighter than some of the character-heavy episodes this season. Nothing went the way I would have expected. And I will never respond to an offer of Corn Nuts the same way again.

What?!
Bovice50129 April 2019
I'm absolutely speechless. The pacing and intensity of this episode along with the "Barry" humor is beyond anything I've ever expected of this series.

I fell in love with the tone of this show from the very first episode. But this is the only time in this series where I was completely glued to the screen and when the credits rolled I couldn't believe it. It felt like 5 minutes have passed.

Having just finished watching the last GoT episode and being extremely disappointed, I figured I'd watch the latest episode of Barry and relax. This made my night. Absolutely perfect start to finish.

Props to Bill Hader for directing the finest episode in this amazing and underwatched/underrated series.

Pure dark comedy/action gold

One of the Funniest Episodes of ANY Comedy Show
dr15029 May 2019
Pure hilarity from beginning to end.

When you think it's over, it isn't. Relentless to the end.

This is an episode you can re-watch many years later and still laugh your ass off!

The prove that "Barry" is Bill Hader's genuine masterpiece
edicionccq28 November 2019
The most remarkable episode of the show. Bill Hader wrote, directed and acted in this episode and it's a masterpiece. The direction was impressive, executing artistic shots that show how good Bill Hader is as a director.

The jokes are so good and the action scenes are incredible. It almost makes you feel like you are going through everything that Barry is experiencing. The way Bill Hader delivers the jokes are fantastic and the two guest stars for the episode (Ronnie/Lilly) just make this episode so much better.

This episode represents by far the best of the whole show.

Bill Hader's finest

Warning: Spoilers
This was, by far, the funniest half hour of television I think I've ever watch. I'm literally wiping away tears as I write this. Every scene, from Ronny packing up and Barry talking about Google and Waze, to the "little gargoyle" on the roof, to Ronny's devastating kick at the end of the episode, this installment is the best episode in 'Barry'. Credit goes, not only to Bill Hader for directing this masterpiece, but to the actress who plays Lily, because she makes this entire episode 10x better.

Dark humor genius masterpiece
TVfiend6929 April 2019
I love Bill Hader. This was an incredible episode. Too bad it gets completely overshadowed by massive Got episode so the chances of more ppl catching this gem even more slim. But Ronny/lily was more emotionally charged and engaging than The long night. Unexpected gem indeed.

One of the best things we've seen in years. Great writing and execution by all cast in this episode. Should have entitled the episode "Feral Mongoose". We would watch this again and again.

Strange

I was excited when I saw this episode had a 9.7 rating.

Sorry, it wasn't that good. It was definitely interesting and it was absolutely strange, but it isn't worthy of a 9.7.

It's like Tom & Jerry in the middle of Breaking Bad but stupider
vid-mercun12 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Probably the worst episode of the show that almost spoiled the entire experience of season 2. The choice of gimmicky surreal violence in a show that until now had realistic vibe was stupid and pointless. It didn't serve the story in any way. It's narratively and stylistically out of place. I really can't understand the praise. It feels like a bottle episode that doesn't work in any way. It's not entertaining or funny.

We're watching repetitive surreal fights the whole episode. We meet Ronny, the robot deadpan taekwondo master and his trained daughter Lilly which is a cross between vampire and Hit-Girl from KickAss.

It's surreal; Barry's back almost splits from the wound and still fights like nothing, but at the same time detective Loach dies from one kick in the most idiotic way. Whole story episode was pretty much irrelevant. Except that detective Loach dies at the end, there is nothing relevant you need to know. You can completely skip this episode and normally follow the story. There aren't any consequences for the happening. Barry's wounds will magically heal for the next episode, Fuches face is messed up pretty much all the time, so that remains the same.

Special

Every now and then an unexpected piece of art comes from one of your favorite television shows. This is one of those episodes. Like Fly in Breaking Bad I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Bill Hader deserves all the awards for riding, starring and directing this one.

This episode will go down as one of the best in recent history of television
bobbydecman29 April 2019
Words can't describe. So funny yet unexpectedly profound show, witty writing and absolutely top notch acting. This episode was genius. I love when filmmakers are not afraid to do things differently and Barry is a prime example. Utmost respect to the people involved making this utterly beautiful show.

Warning: Spoilers
With over 10K user votes on IMDb and over 150 user reviews for this episode, ronny/lily is one for the ages. The Tom and Jerry aspect of this episode started well, but I'm afraid it descended to cartoonish tropes. It's hard to believe Barry survived being beat up big time, but Loach is instantly killed with one kick (yes it was forceful) to the head rather conveniently as he's about to kill Barry.

Is Barry more than a human I wonder.

Guess I dont get it...
improvizatori27 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I dont understand all the '10' ratings for this episode. I mean, I love this show but this episode felt like I was watching something completely different. It didnt feel realistic at all. An expert in taekwondo is taken down by an unarmed Barry? And what's the deal with the feral little girl? I dont know...maybe I missed something.
