A Stroll Down Memory Lane
lavatch4 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In this penultimate episode, Hanna and the audience learn more about her past. Hanna is reunited with her birth father and unceremoniously kicks his ass. Erik has learned that UTRAX is back in operation, training a new generation of Manchurian Candidates. The operation is headed by a nefarious creature named Norris, who is Sawyer's boss.

Erik and Hanna take a stroll down memory lane, first visiting his mother. "He was always terrible" as a child, the mother will later tell Marissa after throwing her prodigal son under the bus.

Then, it is on to the lovely, little Lint Motel, room #12, where Erik and Hanna spend the night. It was in that very room fifteen years ago that Erik and Joanna spent their final night together, with Joanna singing to baby Hanna. Now, Erik attempts to ensure Hanna's safe future by placing her in the home of her birth father. But that kind of domestic bliss will not be suitable for Hanna. She kick-boxes her way out of the house and into her father's car.

While driving around Dorohoi in northeastern Romania, the characters will converge at the Lint Motel, as Marissa, Sawyer, and Erik will have a confrontation. Erik has read the eugenesis file, learning that UTRAX is in full operation with a new batch of exploited children. He plans a suicide mission to call the facility to the attention of the authorities. The kids are now on lockdown, awaiting the arrival of Erik.

Erik now finds that he has a surprising ally in Marissa, who feels guilt and responsibility for the UTRAX operation. The two characters bond over concern about saving Hanna. "We're her only chance," says Marissa plaintively.

The shootout at the Lint Motel leaves much lint floating around the environment. Sawyer is badly wounded in the blast of Erik's car. A gravely wounded Erik flees the scene with Hanna, while Marissa may be hot in pursuit.

And now, it is on to Darabani for the thrilling conclusion.

It's finally getting a little better, but it's a little too late for that.

At last, this show is getting back on track with this episode, for whatever that's worth. Too bad it took until the penultimate episode. Hopefully, the finale is just as decent.

And please, for the love of God, Sophie and/or her dysfunctional family better not be in it. To take it a step further, I hope they don't make a reappearance in the second season, either. On top of that, no more teen romance crap or anything like that as well, please.

Factual error

Car license plate is wrong. G-472-NVF is not, nor has it ever been, a Belgian license plate. You would think Hollywood doesn't know how to use Google, or else it thinks we are all just morons.

You Will Be Informed When The Lock-down Is Over.

Warning: Spoilers
So this episode begins with....coverage of the new character that was uncovered last episode. Another girl in the Utrax program.

Eric and Hanna walking through a field talking about what happened with her mother. Eric tells Hanna her real father is still alive and living in Romania.

Back to Sophie's house where her little brother is playing with army men! ARMY MEN! oH I LOVED PLAYING WITH ARMY MEN.

Cut to a phone call of Marissa being told to stay in Paris and live her life. Apparently the powers that be no longer want her involved.

Eric makes a stop on the way to take Hanna to her real father. He stops off and visits his own mother.

Eric's mother calls Marissa. Marissa shows up late. Sawyer also shows up later. Sawyer orders his goons to take Marissa out. The goons drive Marissa out into an open field. They could have possibly made it more obvious. Marissa apparently is not without skills of her own. Marissa takes out both goon with a kitchen knife stolen from Eric's Mother's House.

-1 Star for Stupid Goons and a poorly choreographed fight. The goons walked into every hit!

I have a feeling the next time Sawyer and Marissa meet that there won't be any faking of niceties.

Sawyer shows back up at the Utrax headquarters. Sawyer is preparing for a visit from Eric. Eric drops Hanna off with the Prodna family. Eric phones Prodna after leaving, telling him that Hanna is really his daughter. Prodna tells Eric, 'I know.' Interesting.

+1 Star because I like interesting.

Hanna figures out that Eric is not going to come back to the Prodnas' . Hanna lays out Mr. Prodna on his behind.

Eric's car is spotted and EVERYONE converges on his location. Marissa calls him from the adjacent hotel room. She warns him about UTrex being a trap. Eric figures out Marissa is in the hotel. Utrex goons show up and a big firefight ensues. Utrex goons don't use cover very well. They may as well be wearing red shirts. LOL Hanna shows up in the nick of time!!! Sawyer gets blown off to the side in a car explosion. We end with Marissa striding out to find Sawyer lying there. Hanna and Eric speed off in Hanna's stolen car.

Okay this is just so cliche and predictable. 5/10
