Entertain , mystery and fun
donnmaclein28 July 2018
The story line is entertaining but there is room for improvement in the camera work, the visual effects are good for the limited resources but can improved with little work. the actors bring the fun to the story and is something fresh, the young girl is very good complement to the main character who is so funny and i encourage you to keep the good work because you go in a good path for success. Also i like the music a lot, good music and good mix up. I don't want to give up any spoiler so everybody can go watch for themselves the good work made and support the independent film maker. So i recommend the series and everybody give it a chance.

Amazing series with an intense and accurate story line!

Warning: Spoilers
'Stalked' is a thriller web series produced and directed by Jaimy Homberg. The talented all-rounder is back once again with his new series called 'Stalked'. The series features a talented cast consisting of Jaimy Homberg himself, Myrna Laanen, and Billy Twomey. The story consists of a young boy named Finn who, along with his best friend Olivia, goes out camping for the weekend. During the night however, Finn and Olivia experience weird sounds emerging from outside which they choose to ignore. The next day, Finn receives threat calls from an anonymous number after which he discusses with his Olivia. Olivia manages to calm Finn down but despite that, Finn is attacked once again after the stalker manages to enter his house and set it on fire, whereas abducting Olivia at the same time. Finn must now set out to rescue her friend while also confronting his stalker. 'Stalked' is a brilliant web series which is unique in its own entirety. The series has been very well directed by Jaimy Homberg as it portrays a completely different story which keeps the viewers glued to their seats. The series on a whole is full of emotions as it provides happiness, sorrow, and most importantly, genuine jump scares. Jaimy himself does an incredible job in playing the character of Finn. His adaptability to acting and portraying versatile roles has always been admired. This time, Jaimy plays a young enthusiastic Finn who cares for all of his friends and family. Supporting him, is the lovely Myrna Laanen who does a marvellous job in portraying Olivia. The character of Olivia is perfectly executed as her innocence and goodwill for her best friend Finn makes it almost impossible to predict her inner state of mind! Next, we have Billy Twomey who plays Finn's very supportive and loving boyfriend, Jim. The cast, overall, does very well to play it cool and natural throughout the series! One of the best things about this series is that it's not a cliché. The storyline is not stretched in any way like in most serials and the ending holds a great plot twist that personally I could never have guessed. Keeping the intensity intact, the background music by MKG arts also synchronizes accordingly to the moment, making the viewers experience a wide range of emotions. All in all, the series is great. The standards had been set quite high for Jaimy after pulling off an amazing movie like 'The Dolls', but as always, the young director and actor has done an amazing job. Looking forward to watch season 2!

Brilliant web series, kept me on the edge of my seat right until the last scene.

Warning: Spoilers
It's not every day that I watch a series in Dutch but I'm glad that I saw "Stalked" (with the help of subtitles of course), a Youtube series consisting of 5 short episodes which was written and directed by the talented Jaimy Homberg. The multitalented star also plays the character of Finn who is at the center of the story, he is supported by the beautiful Myrna Laanen who plays the role of Olivia who is Finn's best friend and the cast is completed by Billy Twomey who plays the role of Finn's boyfriend, we get to see very little of Billy Twomey but his cameo is short and sweet. The story begins when Finn's parents are leaving for the week, Finn doesn't go along with them and instead plans the week with Olivia. As part of a fun filled week Finn and Olivia go camping in the woods, all is going well and they're having fun till the moment they hear weird sounds which scares the two but strangely enough they decide not to react to this and go to sleep instead. The next day Finn wakes up to find death threats from a mysterious stalker on the tree outside his camp which makes him cut the camping trip short. Just as they're about to leave Finn receives a phone call from the mysterious stalker. He is shaken by this call but Olivia comforts him and they consider the possibility that this could all just be a prank. Finn who is an actor switches his focus to an upcoming audition but is disappointed to hear that the movie he was auditioning for has been cancelled, but Finn learns that he has much bigger fish to fry when he receives a mysterious letter from the stalker. At this moment Finn and Olivia finally decide that this has gone on too long but they're a bit late on that as the stalker is already inside Finn's house. The stalker then abducts Olivia and sets the house on fire. Now Finn must save Olivia and himself while fighting the mysterious stalker. It's a famous saying that "Content is king", you can see the plot of "Stalked" and easily understand why that saying is true. Stalked is really well written, its story is well connected from one scene to another. And the story will grasp you. At the end of each episode you're left needing to know what happens next. As for the cinematography, it could've been made better by using LUTS but again for a series made on low budget, I don't think this is the area where too much could be done. Other areas like acting were very expressive, hence the actors never really let me feel like the language was a barrier and so the subtitles sufficed. In the end I would like to say that this series was short and left that feeling, that sweet sugary feeling of wanting more of it. I genuinely think Jaimy Homberg did a brilliant job in telling a story that was clear, concise and compelling. I have subscribed to his youtube channel after seeing this and am looking forward to seeing more content from him soon.

Amazing acting, great plot, delightful twist at the end!

Warning: Spoilers
I recently stumbled upon an indie production 'Stalked' on Youtube. This series is written, produced, directed by Jaimy Homberg (also featuring him in the main role). Now, I love indie films for they offer a much-needed change from major Hollywood blockbusters; they're a fresh breath of air amongst the stagnant air of big-name action movies and cliched rom-coms. Stalked is no different, I was initially skeptical of the series for I'm not a huge fan of horror series but I really enjoyed this short series.

The series centres around Finn (played by the man of the hour, Jaimy Homberg), his best friend Olivia (played by the talented Myrna Laanen) and Finn's English boyfriend Jim (played by Billy Twomey). This thriller starts with Finn and Olivia going out on a camping trip in the woods in a forest somewhere in the Netherlands. In the darkness of the night, they hear sounds from outside their tent. Finn is scared and wants to investigate but doesn't. Next day, Finn wakes up to strange cryptic messages threatening to murder him. Worried, he forces Olivia to leave the woods after receiving a distorted and strange call on his phone. Finn, being an actor has an audition coming up and all these events disturb him making him uneasy. Olivia makes him feel better and he gets excited for his audition. He learns that the movie is cancelled, however he has bigger problems for him as he receives a scary letter. His worries don't lessen as his stalker manages to enter his house abducting Olivia and setting his house on fire. Finn, now has to save himself, his best friend and to face the extremely dangerous stalker.

'Stalked' has a really strong plot, which I find to be its strongest point. The story slowly paces its way and by the end, I was glued to my seat. I watched the whole series in a single sitting(something which i rarely do). The plot is relevant to the current generation, it is wonderfully written. Dutch isn't my first language but the expressions conveyed in the dialogues are as meaningful as they could be in English. Moving on to the direction and camera work, I felt they could be improved by the addition of color-grading or camera filters but again considering the scope of the web-series, this is not a huge concern for me. Besides that, the camera work and direction by Jaimy was superb. It's hard to believe that this was made on a strict budget of 150 Euros, the visual effects are really well done for an amateur. The transitions are also beautifully crafted and are straight out of a major hollywood production.

For me, soundtrack and OSTs are really important to a movie and tv series. A bad soundtrack can ruin a good piece of art and vice versa, it's make or break for me. Luckily, 'Stalked' features a soothing soundtrack, I was amazed to learn that the lyrics were penned by none other than Jaimy himself; surely a talented person! The soundtrack is marvelous and adds a lot to the series, MKG arts did an applaudable job on it!

The Youtube-based series provides a full 45 minutes of thrilling entertainment and caters to a large audience. The cast also increases its watchability giving a convincing performance. The standout performer once again is Jaimy Homberg who portrays Finn, a young and aspiring actor. His insecurities, urge to succeed and love for his close ones is perfectly shown by Jaimy Homberg. Complementing the main character, we have Olivia played by Myrna Laanen who is always eager to support his best friend in all of his pursuits. Finn's boyfriend, Jim is played by Billy Twomey; although features in a short cameo-like performance, he still manages to showcase his acting talents.

I always have a hard time sitting for longer time-periods, the reason I take a lot of breaks during trips to the cinema. 'Stalked' has a short run-time which can easily be watched in a single sitting while still being excited for what's next to come! The storyline features a perfectly-executed plot-twist, something which could have never crossed my mind. Jaimy really pulled a big one with this series, I expect great things from him! The series was an entertaining watch, I'm glad I didn't waste my time over yet another cliched indie production. For me, this series is a 10/10, would definitely wait for more from Jaimy and his team. An intense thriller, which I highly recommend everyone to enjoy with a bag of popcorn and friends.

Thriller with a topping of darkness

Warning: Spoilers
Stalked is a web series that proves how one does not require expensive equipment to come up with amazing content. In its entirety, the series has been amazingly improvised within a low budget. Each episode is concise in the sense that the storyline takes little time to familiarize itself to the viewers. With each episode lasting about 10 mins on average, this web series makes sure that all its viewers are kept glued to their screens. Season 1 was prolifically full of plot twists with Finn having to face backlash from the likes of her best friend. It imminently portrayed a sense of mystery throughout every episode as viewers could not figure out the mystery behind Finn's alleged stalker. For me, the highlight of this season was when Olivia was revealed as Finn's stalker. What made this reveal so shocking was major because of Myrna Laanen's exceptional acting skills. Her expressions of innocence, combined with her support for Finn, was what made the revelation so daunting. Season 2, in comparison, was much more intense and violent. Although it started off quite nicely considering how Finn, now known as Kate, was spending her life happily with her new boyfriend Josh. Soon, however, the overall theme became quite intense as soon as Olivia made her return from the hospital. The highlight of this season can perhaps be considered to be the violent ending which was full of bloodlust. The duo of Amy Homberg and Myrna Laanen's is essentially a match made in heaven. Their brilliant acting throughout the season is what kept the storyline alive. Amy's adaptability and versatility is what made her stand out in this season. Kate's character transition from a terrified girl to a vengeful person was improvised coherently mainly because of Amy's flexibility. To support her in the act, Myrna's expressions, as someone who was out for revenge, sent chills down the spine! Olivia's sadistic attitude was intense more than ever before. It was primarily what made her performance just as good as in Season 1. Another addition to the cast, Leon Lambers, also played an important role in this season. Playing as Olivia's uncle Richard, Leon's poker face was considered to be the likes of an actual murderer, thus, making an early impact onto the series. My favorite moment in this series was at the very end when the final battle between Kate and Olivia took place. Olivia's heartlessness, combined with Kate's helplessness was extremely terrifying, which, intriguingly stood out for me. Quite different from other web series, Stalked, had a very tragic and vengeful ending which, for sure, resulted in heartbreak for all its viewers. Overall, this web series is an exceptional one as it manages to completely synchronize with its viewers in terms of empathetical sentiment. Full credit to Amy for managing to maintain the series' high standards through her directing skills. The tragic ending gives me hope that we will get to witness Season 3!

Great suspense, definitely a shocker
josperbott3 August 2018
Stalked is quite an interesting web series. There's quite some stuff to talk about regarding this show but I'll try to keep it simple, cool and, of course, spoiler free.

The format of the show is not totally uniform, the first episode is about 9 minutes, while the rest are around 5 minute-long, except for the last episode that's 7 minutes long. This makes for kind of an odd storytelling. It does feels as if it would have been a bit better if it would have been presented in less but longer episodes.

The acting of the show is really much better than what you'd expect from your everyday usual web show. It's pretty usual to see terrible acting in this kind of shows, however with Stalked it's a different story, you can definitely see some strong basics of acting that, even though they are not professional actors, they certainly show a lot of potential and you can certainly feel the character emotions here, there's not much to say about this, probably a better camera work would have helped, but nevertheless it seems like a nice starting point if any of the actors would like to carry on with their career in the biz, of course it's a rough world so even with how good they already are, they still have a long way to go.

The show presents an interesting plot, however, probably because of a noticeable very short budget, it didn't quite live up to it. It does feel like they rushed the ending and at the same time it feels like they didn't have enough time to work everything they wanted to do with the show. Not trying to spoil anything, however the reveal at the ending is not very shocking, probably because it doesn't really cause an impact. One of the reasons it does not cause it could be because of the way it's done, and at the ending we don't really get a closure, but this is probably a good thing, since it gives this cool feeling of "wow, what happened here" and leaves us awed with the conflict.

Stalked has good intentions and it's a nice start point, but it has a lot of work to be done to it. But really, it's a lot better than what you usually get on youtube. It's a show you'll totally want to check out.

Impressive story line, but a lot lacking in directing and cinematography
egbeyinkasegun28 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Stalked is a short series film with five episodes that features three main actors. Finn which is played by Jaimy Homberg, Olivia played by Myrna Laanen and Jim played by Billy Twomey.

Although the theme of the movie plus the twist at the end is quite brilliant, overall, the amateurish qualities of the film strikes out like a sore thumb. Basically, what we have in Stalked is a brilliant storyline, amazing soundtrack (damn, I love the music), mixed with inexpert directing and cinematography. It's almost like something a kid with a camcorder would do. The unsteady nature of the camera while shooting underscores this fact.

Despite the less-than-impressive directing and cinematography, Jaimy Homberg did his best in interpreting the role he played. Jim (Billy Twomey ) was also impressive but the weakest link was Olivia (Myrna Laanen ). The dialogue in the film is very realistic, from the idle chatter between Finn and Olivia to the love conversations between Finn and Jim. Also, although the horror effect that was hinted at in the ending of episode 3 when Finn went for his auditioning was not exactly A-list, it was still pretty impressive.

The costumes used in the film were also apt, each fitting the scene in which they were used.

I think that if the storyline of the film is adopted by a more experienced director with a better cinematography experience, the result would be more successful.
