Great finale
housebeast2 August 2019
One of the funniest one. And the part where the vampires go to the church, very funny. Even Nadja turns on fire, hilarious.

Season One Review
southdavid25 June 2019
Saw and enjoyed the film version a couple of years back and was very excited to see this adaptation/spin off/continuation. Though the first episodes were a little shaky, I thought it rallied and finished as one of the strongest sit-coms of the moment.

Three vampires Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry) and Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) live in present day Staten Island with Guillermo (Harvey Gullen), Nandor's human familiar and Colin (Mark Proksch) an emotional vampire, who lives on the energy he can draw from people. Comfortable in their modern surroundings, the arrival of "The Baron" an old vampire who believes in the subjugation of humans threatens to disrupt their lives.

Despite being produced in the States, and written primarily by two New Zealanders, "WWDITS" feels very British in its sensibilities. The absurdities of the situation, the deadpan delivery style and language reflect the three English stars and some of the wider writing staff. The, documentary style, isn't new, but I feel like we've had a few years away from it, since the ends of "The Office" and "Parks And Recreation" so it doesn't feel as overfamilar here as it could have done. The effects are pretty good, be it the CGI transitions into bats or the prosthetics work of The Baron. . The cameo's range from solid turns from regular comedic actors, like Kristen Schaal or Nick Kroll up to the seventh episode which is an extraordinary cavalcade of virtually every star whose ever played a Vampire reappearing to form the Vampire council.

As I said, it's a slow start but the writing does pick up after the first couple of episodes and it does get very funny as it runs on. Admittedly too, all three of the leads are playing characters very similar to ones they've played before - or it Berry's case - every time, but they're somehow endearing roles and I look forward to seeing what comes of the little plot points that the finale brought up in the next season.

Very Fun Show
aaaaaron-frannnnnnnn18 August 2022
Never heard of this show till a week ago. Then within 3 days, watched the first season. Very fun show. Follows a pretty straight forward "mockumentary" style comedy. Sort of fills "The Office" void. I will say, I cannot see this lasting for too long, but at least really funny for now!

a belated review

Warning: Spoilers
I'm only just now discovering this gem of a show that currently is in S5. No future spoilers but to anyone reading this review in 2023, I can only say: pay attention to Guillermo's plotline, which begins in earnest with this episode where he innocently uncovers something about himself that will have huge and hilarious repercussions later on.

This is a very intricately and well-planned-out series. Well okay there's plenty of stuff they forgot to follow up on or just flat-out dropped (maybe). And there are plot lines that go nowhere but you can depend on Gizmo's storyline to keep you interested even through the lulls. Am I up to 600 words finally?

Apt Conclusion to First Season
Hitchcoc31 August 2022
Until a week ago, I had never heard of this show. It was recommended to my by my nerdy son. I rushed through the first season and now feel I have a connection with the characters. It's time to slow down and look more deeply into what is going on. The reactions of the characters as they attend the funeral are priceless. The reflecting off the standard stuff being put forth by the minister who is speaking over a fried vampire is funny. Also, we get some more looks at the past as characters cross in and out. I will be interested to see what happens in the second season as the writers have the comfort of knowing they have a following. I enjoy watching Guillermo and his painful day to day duties with absolutely no recompense. When his boss asks him if he is sad, he ignores the explanation that no one listens to the boy by talking over him. Funny bit.

Warning: Spoilers
A jealous Laszlo was great near the end, but the episode itself needed something big to happen and nothing of the sort did. It didn't feel any different than most of the episodes we have seen week to week from this show.
