Phenomenal opening scene.

This show is now going into deeper more complex threads. Barry is getting close to being exposed, and suspicions are arising.

The wound is open!

This was just a great way to start the second season! It immidiatly captures your attention with a framatic and hillarious opening scene that just captures the essence and some of the best this show has to offer! Dark humor mixed with serious drama!

This episode also works as a nice continuation from the shocking ending of season one as those events are still felt! We get a great flashback/acting scene where Barry is confronted with his past and essentially who he is!

We also get some interesting development around NoHo Hank as he tracks Barry down and try to recrute him for a job!

That endning scene had me really excited!

The Show Must Go On, Probably?
lassegalsgaard20 May 2021
The good thing about binging TV is that you can go straight from the first season to the next where other people would have to wait for years to do that. When I watched the first season of "Barry" in a day, I was so glad that I knew I'd be able to just go straight into the next episode and see where it all picked up after that awesome cliffhanger. The second season premiered about a year after the release of the first season and from the first episode, it's clear that the writers have not forgotten what the hit show is all about.

The episode was written by Alec Berg and Bill Hader, and they seem to have a perfect handle on what the show is all about. It's about the dark aspects of human life and how we can channel that in our profession, and how we stand up to our fears. Obviously, that is all underneath of heavy pound of laughter that is spread throughout the show, but it's still very much in its core. This first episode of the second season could easily be seen as a very depressing half hour of television, but I found it so hilarious. Maybe it's because I'm Danish and my humor has always been a bit dark, but if that is the case, I'm thankful for that. I thought they pulled away a bit from Barry's more serious side and made him a little more energetic in this episode, which is a natural progression to his character, but came on a little strong in the first few scenes. However, they pulled it back straight and managed to go a fine line and make it all feel like where we left off in the first season. I also felt like Gene got a little too emotional over the loss of a girl that he barely knew, but it was clear that he was very much in love with her by the end of the first season, so that's another nitpick I can easily look past. This is a great show, and this return shows great promise for an explosive season.

"The Show Must Go On, Probably?" is a great return to the world of "Barry." It manages to reintroduce all the characters in the places we would expect them to be, but also throw in a few surprised that tease what will probably be a season of great mystery and extreme fun in the end.

Barry - The Show Must Go On, Probably?
Scarecrow-8830 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In the life of Barry, he rids himself of this problem and that problem (Janice Moss and Goren), others emerge. Gene cannot escape the funk of losing Janice while NoHo Hank must try and keep his newfound relationship with Cristobal and the Bolivians under repair. While Barry hopes The Front Page will somehow go on as planned, Gene's lack of participation keeps the cast (including Sally) from committing faithfully to the play. NoHo Hank wants Barry to do a hit for him, unwilling to take no for an answer, using his status as the replacement of Goren (and knowledge that Barry killed him) to convince him that it is in his best interest. Detective Loach learns that a tooth found in the garage where Goren and his thugs were killed matches DNA of Fuches from a Coca Cola can, eventually surmising ties to Barry "Block". Loach has a failing marriage and understands that his wife is having an affair...this could very well factor into whether or not Barry can keep from a trip to jail. Fuches tried to secure a new hitman but he fails miserably to get a "package" for a client...the hitman uses a shotgun on the safe when the bullet ricochets into his leg, with the police arriving to take him out while the client leaps out a window, falling into a car and right into the law enforcement armament. So Fuches is caught, Barry's link to him is discovered by Loach, NoHo Hank demands Barry kill someone for him, Barry is forced to try and direct Gene's play which turns into a complete disaster, Barry must surrender some details to Gene from his military past (the thrill of killing locals in while in an outpost of the Middle East is met by other soldies with glee, target practice celebrated because they were his first kills) in order to save the workshop from closure, and Barry's giving up some truth impresses Sally. Sally, of course, can't be with him that night afterward because her career demands come before that (drinks with agent, rehearsal the next day, etc.) Goldberg's moments are so good it feels like she's in these episodes longer than she really is...her inability to coax Barry out of trying to direct the play and rehearsals (his pep talk totally embarrassing) and attempts to convince Barry that Gene's pain is more important than a play show that despite her efforts he's totally committed to its success even as all the signs scream bad idea. Barry wishes to put his hitman past behind him-that has always been the show's point-but that simply won't go away. NoHo Hank, often treated as a clown, has a shining moment of clarity where he isn't a pushover doof Barry can talk down to, drawing from how he was disregarded in the clothing store with a pointed mission statement and no fooling around.

Good things can happen

Warning: Spoilers
1. Barry directs 2. Gene cancels the show 3. Barry talks about Afghan

With a fire ending from the previous season, I headed into Season 2 of Barry with high expectations. And so far, it has delivered! The slate is clean as the characters deal with Janice's death. Gene is completely grief stricken and the class is impacted by it as a result. Barry seems more upbeat like he found a purpose in life; this is the only thing in his life that's meaningful so he tries hard to save it. In that effort, he shares the class about his experience in Afghanistan, though it's not fully true. We learn much later what actually happened in Afghanistan. Gene continues on with the class, seeing how he can use grief for theatre. But outside of that, things are getting darker as Hank takes on a more important role in the gang world and asks Barry to kill Esther, the leader of Burmese mafia, out of jealousy. Barry is again held back to his past as Hank threatens Barry because he knows about him. Barry also in danger as Loach finally pieces the information together to find out that Barry is the killer.

So right from the get-go, the show is airtight in setting up new conflicts for our beloved character. The show does not waste any time in even portraying how Sally and Barry became a thing even in the finale episode. New characters are introduced but their appearance does not feel forced. I do hope that season 2 lives up to the excellent Season 1!

That's not a knife

Warning: Spoilers
The knife scene really grossed me out big time and it was completely unexpected for sure. Definitely that was a knife. Talking of which, I loved the Kirby Howell-Baptiste scene where she protests she'll never have an Australian accent, a nod to her recurring role in The Good Place.

Talking about The Good Place, it's also wonderful to see D'Arcy Carden in this episode.

Absolutely Loved It [9/10]

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Barry Season 2 Episode 1 ''The Show Must Go On, Probably?'' (S2. E1): Season 1 was great. Let's see if this one is better or worse. So Fuches has a guy, no had a new guy now that Barry is gone? Interesting. It's sad that Janice is dead, I feel bad for Gene, he was really in love with her. The friendship between Noho and Cristobal is so funny. Cristobal wants to include another crime family on his team? I don't know if that's good or not. Lol Fuches was all like ''im not giving you my DNA'' and then he did by drinking the cola haha. I wonder when Sally will realize who Barry really is. Barry keeps trying to leave the hitman life behind but they wont let him. Overall an amazing episode, my rating is 9/10.

Episode 201

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the first season of Barry, but thought critics overrated it. I felt the same way about this episode. Not bad, but certainly not comparable to the elite comedies on TV today.

Ok, but looking forward to a better episide next week.
rebinger-12 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I think it was a mistake to kill off Det Janice Moss last season. Now Henry Winkler's character has less to work with and is left moping about, which is not funny. They had great chemistry and an amusing storyline. For that matter, it was also a mistake to kill off Goran because now we're left with curious Chechyan cueball who is an acquired taste at best. Goran could at least provide the requisite leaden menace that the other strains to muster.
