Ace, a boy in Vienna City living an average life, finds a mysterious egg calling for his name. Little does he know that the egg is a special "Drop" that both Lance, the Dragon Caller, and the Special Drop Defensive Force are looking for.
Lance fights the Chaos Devil Dragon, but has a difficult time due to SDF's intervention. The special egg speaks to Ace, and Ace is able to create more Drops for Lance, leading to victory. Curious about everything, Ace goes to the Dragon Museum.
Tamazo, the special egg that hatched, gets kidnapped by the SDF. In order to rescue him, Ace and Charo sneaks inside the SDF base. After successfully rescuing Tamazo, Charo convinces Ace to go to Dragoza Island with him to become Dragon Callers together.
Ace, Tamazo, and Charo safely arrives on Dragoza Island. When he visits his grandmother, she gives him a D-Gear; a device used by Dragon Callers. Eager to try it out, Ace goes into the woods to find a monster that would become his ally.
Obtaining D-Gear and his first monster, Ouka, Ace wants to take the next step - getting his hands on a Soul Armor. Donny tells them that he can find one at the Sacred Temple, but warns that everyone who has set foot there have never returned...

Finally, the annual Battle Cup has started! Ace, along with all the other Dragon Callers, are eager to show off their strengths in the tournament. However, Ace's opponent for the first match is... Tiger! Does Ace stand a chance against him?
After going their separate ways, Tiger finally understands what it means to be strong. Ace remembers what Sonia said as well, and puts it together to activate Soul Brave. Succeeding in his bold move, Ace defeats Tiger and moves on to the next match!
Winning his second round by default, Ace fights Charo next. They both agree to give the battle 100%, but Ace lets their friendship get in the way. Not being able to synchronize with Horus, can Ace overcome this obstacle, or will his battle end here?
It's Garnet vs. Starjohn, and while she uses her skills for a massive attack twice in a row, it still wasn't enough to take him down. Garnet's defeat seems to have triggered something for Morgan, but even her twin sister, Herriot doesn't know what.
In class C finals, Ace battles Kroell. With Kroell's leader skill cutting his Dark-attribute attacks in half, Ace has a hard time dealing damage against Kroell. However, seeing how poorly Kroell treats his monsters, this is a fight Ace cannot lose.
The last remaining finals is class A, Harriot versus Lance. Losing to Lance once, Harriot is determined to win this time. She feels confident that the lifting of the ban on Soul Brave will work to her advantage, but will Lance be able to prove her wrong?
With the winners from each class now determined, the Representative Battle begins! First off is class B champion, Starjohn, versus class C champion, Ace. Ace has already lost to Starjohn once; will he be able to win this time?
Finally, the fight everyone's been waiting for. Ace wants to win, not so much as winning the tournament but as defeating Lance. Ace is going to give everything he's got, but it looks like Lance isn't going to hold back either. Will Ace be able to win?
Ace is able to successfully bring out Horus' power and his strong will to win this battle is pushing him to the extreme. Unfortunately, his Soul Armor reaches its limit before Ace does. However, that still isn't enough to stop Ace from pushing harder.
