Unlike anything you've ever seen, this is truly special

They don't make'em like this anymore. But even back in the day this was also something of a rare quality as well. A music video from a live performance that doesn't speed things up with velocity or fast editing cuts, this one allows viewers to actually visualize each member of Pink Floyd plus the guest musicians and the backing vocals. "On the Turning Away" is a special case of a video that doesn't follow the trend of rushed videos which creates a unique experience, and even just being a performance moment rather than a worked concept it amazes at each shot goes by. Gilmour, Mason and Wright come back to life with "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" after the controversial "The Final Cut", and that 1987/1988 tour had some incredible images to show with epic performances - you can feel by the crowd enthusiasm how much they missed Floyd during their hiatus in mid-1980's.

One of the great lead singles from that underrated album, "On the Turning Away" plays a little extended on the edges - Wright has a great keyboard intro and then at the final minutes it's all up to Gilmour goes with solo after another as the band performs at their fullest. But the most special moment comes on the last sung part where all members help Gilmour with the singing. As I said, this isn't your typical video where the camera needs to keep cutting away at great speed - here we have the chance to see each player doing their act, the camera is quite static which also reflects the song's nature as a thoughtful ballad - and also because Floyd plays at a slower tempo than how the song plays originally.

It's hard to find more reasoning behind those mentioned in order to proof that this clip is special. It's one of those things that must be seen so you can get a full scope, specially if you had seen plenty of music videos over the decades. This is really something else, out of this world. 9/10.
