1377. Austrian Duke Leopold arrives in Hungary. His son William is to marry King Lois' daughter, Jadwiga, in the future. The resolute princess makes a good impression on him.
Queen mother Elizabeth thinks Jadwiga's betrothal to Habsburg is a bad idea. However, she does not find support in her daughter-in-law and confides in Margit that no one listens to her anymore.

Duke Leopold finds the weeping princess in the chapel. In Ruthenia, the duke of Opole collects valuable things. Into his hands falls the grace-famous Icon of the Mother of God. The queen regent travels to Krakow.
1378. The engagement of William and Jadwiga takes place in Vienna. Queen mother Elisabeth decides to take the governorship away from the Duke of Opole. In Hungary, the king's eldest daughter, Princess Catherine dies unexpectedly.
King Louis despairs after the death of his eldest daughter. Jogaila decides to send his brother as an envoy to Hungary. The Duke of Opole wants to bribe the queen mother, but Elizabeth is incorruptible.
1379. Duke Skirgaila arrives as envoy to Teutonic Malbork. In Kraków, Queen Regent Elisabeth orders Jasiek of Melsztyn to find the supposed son of her deceased brother, King Casimir.
