I think there is a point here?
sinnfenian26 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The basic idea of this movie, or so it would have you believe at first, is that a girl- Stephanie, is mourning the death of her boyfriend David. Announced via radio newscast is that David committed suicide by stabbing himself 37 times and removing his own eyeballs...then announces no foul play suspected.

Stephanie's friend Sarah comes by and you think the two are going to investigate this death since David seemed obsessed with a streaming video of a dead guy in a coffin. Fair enough premise...

This is not what you get. This movie quickly descends into a hodgepodge of creepy scenes, repeated one after another with little or no context to give the viewer and idea of why it is happening...we go from David appearing bloody and attacking Stephanie to Sarah freaking out and running to the bathroom only to have her ring the doorbell and replay the scene we watched earlier when Sarah first arrived. This descends further into someone walking endlessly through a forest, then abandoned house etc etc etc...the scenes themselves are nice and creepy and accompanied with music and sounds that accentuate the tone. The problem is The director continuously moves from one creepy scene to the next with no context and no real plot. It becomes scene after scene of Stephanie experiencing weird stuff.

This movie is close to being something good. As is, it could have been done in 20 minutes especially considering the last 15 of the run time is the stream of the old man in a coffin, which is what David was supposed to be watching. If the writer and director could have strung a little substance and context and created an actual plot, coupled with the directors keen eye towards building creepy tension, I think this could have been a very good low budget horror movie. But instead, they focused on scene after scene of unexplained events that, after 30 minutes had me checking to see how much time I had left. At least you know you can skip the last 15 minutes.

Hideo Kojima Inspired
ItLookedBetterOnBetamax10 November 2019
For a low budget horror film this isn't really bad at all. it's great at creating atmosphere and some good scares along the way. The premise of a haunted livestream is kind of interesting but sort of skipped over in the film, and only marginally touched upon here and there.

The film is about an hour long with the majority of that set in a single house, but the film does have random cut aways to other locations, which are used to pad out the backstory and add in some scares. The issue with this though is that the film can be a bit disorientating and it can be hard to keep up with what actually is going on and why.

The film is clearly inspired by Hideo Kojima's and Konami's P.T. video game, with a similar plot, use of radio, setting and some visuals. The film is also filmed in such a way to give it the appearance of a video game, including some moments which are filmed in first person. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as the video game was a critical success and sadly was cancelled before it's release so there is plenty of room to develop that lore further.

Overall the film was well put together and had the occasional impressive moment, but ultimately was a bit lackluster and didn't make much sense hence the low score.

More indie apartment shenanigans
Leofwine_draca19 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
THE STREAM is another lousy indie horror flick that consists of one woman alone in an expansive apartment. The whole story is set at night via some blue tinting. The woman wanders around a lot and gets spooked while the Internet angle is never sufficiently played up. The whole thing is very slow and dragged out to the nth degree.

Not very interesting, not scary and disjointed

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is kind of a ripoff of The Ring in my estimation. It's clearly low budget. It's not very scary. I can't believe I sat through it. It's hard to hear some of the dialog probably because of the way the audio was.

General premise, I think, is the one girl's boyfriend committed suicide or went crazy after watching this live stream of a guy laying in a coffin, but weird things happen and the screen fuzzes put and shows other scenes. Then apparently the guy comes to kill you since you've seen it. So anyway her friend I think watches a DVD he recorded of things that happened during the live stream. It cut scenes to an abandoned house which I thought the filming of was the best part of the movie. The DVD ends and the friend tells the girl to read some letter, then goes sits down at the computer and stares as the dead guy in the coffin. Then inexplicably she has a seizure and runs to the bathroom. Then some friend comes over, watches the thing too. Crazy stuff happens like some guy comes in, the second friend goes crazy, none of it makes any real sense whatsoever. The guy eventually comes for the first girl, she ends up in a locked box, the whole thing basically rewinds to the first scene. Credits roll but it's only an hour into the movie. So after the credits you get treated to 15 minutes of the pic of the guy lying in the coffin. You expect something might happen nothing does, it's just the guy lying in the coffin.

It's just too disjointed not enough of an actual plot to make it enjoyable.

Warning: Spoilers
If, by some chance, you actually enjoyed watching this movie, then you might also like "Deadware", which was likewise written and directed by Isaac Rodriguez. Same basic premise and plot: two friends entangled in the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of another of their friends.

The formula for both movies are very similar; disjointed vignettes interspersed between scenes of "live", current actions and events, mysterious, vague clues and portents of impending doom, a connection to the Internet and cryptic materials found there.

"Deadware" was okay, definitely the better of the two movies, but that isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. "Unfriended", which was not a great movie by any means, covered a very similar premise, and did it much, much better.

Movie that play a mind game call it Mental Twister
donaldwaynestephens22 June 2023
I would not watch this again yet if I could I would watch it for the first time, but I already have so let's move on.

It is a movie that was not horrible and it was not amazing so it was someplace in between.

It has enough going on that you can not completely get the story and plot in your mind As the movie switches the story story starts to change in your mind also. It is a great mental twister and when you think you have it figured out something happens and the. You got to rethink it all over again.

At end you may just figure out what is going on if you haven't before then. Good luck and please let us all know your thoughts of the movie .

Far king creepy
nashw8217 February 2022
This is damn creepy for what it is; a low budget small cast, maybe even a student film, but man it gave me chills. Short, at under an hour, slow paced with a lot of single take shots and constantly building tension.
