Great tribute

I don't know if they actually got Betty White or not, but this episode was awesome for someone who is a huge fan of the Golden Girls. Richard's female disguise is obviously a nod to Rue McClanahan's Blanche. More than anything else it's another great TAWOG nod to pop culture. They parody everything perfectly, from the sarcastic quips from the "Dorothy" character, to the innocent naivete of "Rose" and the wise old lady "Sophia".

As an actual "standalone" episode, it's pretty basic. The kids think one thing is going on and it's the opposite. But the pop culture filter thrown on the show is what makes it special. So I highly recommend for any Golden Girls fans out there, even if you've never seen this show before. And I recommend for anyone who hasn't seen Golden Girls before, because the episode still has all the TAWOG charm

That was still good

This isn't one of the show's strongest episodes, but is still good. The plot is that Richard is living a double life where he crossdresses and hangs out with these older women, unable to find male friends. Initially, Gumball and Darwin think he's having an affair. I really do like the designs of the old women. The show has few human characters and they're represented nice and goofy here. This is another episode that parodies the laugh track.

I admit it seems kind of redundant when "The Loser" already made fun of this, and it was much better. There is a pretty funny gag at the end. The entire episode is a parody of "The Golden Girls". Even as someone who never watched it, it's easy to tell what they're making fun of. It's kind of an odd thing to parody, but then again, they parody everything here. I'm glad to have seen this. ***
