I really like the surrealistic visual effects in this movie. The plot, forbidden love, is not new but with this great visual effects it feels new and uniqe. The characters are unusual and together with the surrealism it creates a special movie that I'm not use to experience in swedish movies.

Flat, boring and a failed script

My expectations were high when i heard that the famous swedish comedian Robert Gustafsson were to starr as a theme park nazi sympathiser, in a 1940 of Stockholm. Alongside the love story of a romeo and julia conflict. 10 minutes after the film started, i wanted to leave the cinema.
Sure you can say alot of positive things about the SFX, the costumes and sound effects. Nothing was wrong with the technical. It felt like it was all studio produced in hollywood. But mix that with shallow characters, a story that needs atleast 10 more tryout drafts. Did they have any continuity checkup on the storyline at all?
This film could have been great. But it falls to the ground in the first 10minutes, and continues in the same phase. 4 stars out of 10 for the effort and some nice set design

Did they forget that her dad was a nazi sympathizer?

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the movie, even though the romantic plot line was focused on more than necessary (in my humble opinion). I would've wanted to learn more about the actual rollercoasters and such. Introducing many different plot lines in the movie does tend to confuse the viewers, making the movie disoriented. Something like the brother's sexuality and the war(!) were two important storylines that were hidden under the focus of the love story. Also, did they forget that her dad was a nazi sympathizer? In the end it seemed as if all was well....
A triumph for Swedish cinema

The acting, cinematography and overall production were absolutely astounding. I went in a bit sceptical, but came to love every moment the movie had to offer. Particularly Robert Gustafsson surprised me with his convincing portrayal of the ruthless amusement park owner. The only reason I'm not giving Eld & Lågor 10/10 is that the story was a bit uneven in where it wanted to go and therefore fell a bit short. The overall production, however, makes up for this and makes me recommend this movie to anyone interested in watching it.
A creative picture of life

A beautiful story about life with it's hardnesses and joyfulness es, perfectly told. The most significant points to notify are large amount of original visual representation of the main character's feelings (which makes it be a quite similar to the 'Great mystical circus', interesting unpredictable plot which is not overloaded of dialogues nor monotonous narrative neither unnecessary nuances. Worth mentioning also well developed composition of picture in whole, good actors and colorful image, however, in Wonderwheel the picture seems to be a little brighter.
