Warning: Spoilers
This show is still good, but right now it is still figuring out the balancing act between the mob and the movie making business. The Amara character is just so boring and that might be part of the reason for the struggle. The "big baddie" needs to be a captivating character whether it is Gus on Breaking Bad, Locke/Ben on Lost, or anyone else.

The abrupt shooting was an LOL moment though, even if that wasn't the reaction they were going for.

Perfect Episode

This may be one of the best episodes of the season to date, especially if you have been watching the previous episodes. You need the background of the preceding events to appreciate the situations.

Everything worked like a Swiss clock from scene to scene. This was an extremely clever episode.

I don't notice many folks voting here on this series, and I hope it's not for lack of appreciation for the great work, but rather perhaps it's on a network that doesn't have a giant distribution (Epix), or many subscribers.

I really think one of the problems adding to the lack of viewership, is the 'title': "Get Shorty". When I saw it the first few times in the guide, I thought Epix was playing the movie of the same name with John Travolta. A good movie, but not nearly as clever or well done as this series.

Potential viewers should also be aware that it is not the same story at all. The only thing this show has in common with the Travolta movie, is "mobsters, and a movie being made". The characters are nothing alike, and "Shorty" is the name of O'Dowd's daughter, whom he is trying to not lose contact with because he and his wife are separated. He loves Shorty dearly, and she is the driving force behind all of his efforts to end his mobster career.

GREAT series. I hope it's picked up for an additional season by Epix. As long as this series is playing on Epix, they can be sure of at least one customer...ME.

*Side note: Hats off to Daisy von Scherler Mayer for executing the 'best directing job' of the entire first season. (comment added 10-09-2017)

From Stamos with Love

The episode starts with Amara's goons beating up Miles and goes back 36 hours.

The production of The Admiral's Mistress is under way. The new production company wants to buy out Amara's interest. Something Miles want to be kept hidden for her.

Amara also wants to know how the casting of Nick Stamos is going. Miles does not realise that it is Rick who has given Miles a get out of jail free card.

There were some plot threads which I thought will keep going that are quickly resolved here. I liked how Louis dealt with the girlfriend of the original writer of the script.

I believe that the focus should be on the making of the movie in Hollywood. The shifting to Amara and the duplicitous Yago is now getting in the way. They seem to be weak links.
