Genuinely mediocre from every perspective

This is the song "Stressed Out" (or lets say the music video for said song) by "Twenty One Pilots" released back in 2015, so this one is less than 5 years old now and it managed far over 1.5 billion (!) views on Youtube. Director is Mark C. Eshleman and it looks as if he has made all the 21P music videos. Or at least really many. This one we got here runs for under 4 minutes and is about the band members' pasts, their very young years you could say. But it never feels like a personal video whatsoever. The lyrics basically say they are thinking of the days when their mothers sang lullabies to them, but now they are stressed out. Yep that's the story behind the song title. Add to that that on one occasion we see the lead duo's siblings and parents in the most shallow fashion and really most desperate attempt to make this look like a personal thingey. I found it cringeworthy and honestly the only reason why I am not giving this an even lower rating is because here and there it is milcly catchy. But to me I really don't see any reason why you would want to watch the video instead of just listening to the record. Not a creative achievement by any means. Normally change would have been good with all this forgettable mediocrity, but the rapping part (including the red eyes) at the end is even worse honestly. So yeah, a definite thumbs-down from me and 2 out of 5 is still on the generous side. But yeah, stating the amount of clicks this generated proves really that anybody can make it big (on Youtube) these days. If that is something positive, it's up to you to decide. Also we cannot really blame these sub-par artists (have heard the name of the band before, but that's it) if simple people appreciate their stuff big style. These are the problem.

the childhood

A portrait of childhood using half memories. The present. And family, friends. A confession and the same hip hop spirit defining a small world . The black neck and black hands of Joseph as basic simbols about clash between dreams, expectations and crisis of adult. Short, just Twenty One Pilots spirit.
