Bad guys are really good at being bad
jpharristx17 November 2019
Sharon Conley is great at being bad. Everything I saw in this episode made me hate her character that much more. She always plays these type of bad guys - the ease type to hate. It's also really easy to hate Steven Weber's character. And the Stone character, especially after Stone shoots an innocent bystander, he's easy to hate too. But sadly, this episode reveals the TRUTH of politics. Having worked in politics for several decades, it actually does work this way. Very scary for the public. Glad to see the corruption exposed.

Warning: Spoilers
Glad to see The Bold and the Beautiful's Rome Flynn get a big guest spot on this episode, but the case itself was actually really boring. A fairly generic murder, and more of the expedited downfall of the Mayor was foreshadowed.

I like the show giving us a recurring arc, but we need better a death of the week.

Tense
lor_8 July 2023
The team's strengths and weaknesses are put to the test in this tense episode regarding a church murder that has many different elements of race, religion and politics all intersecting in novel fashion in the Big Easy area, specifically the hamlet of Clearwater.

Highlight is a featured part for singer Irma Thomas, adding to the atmosphere and impact of the show, with plenty of suspense left over as the show has a cliffhanger aspect, located in the hamlet of Clearwater.

The series being rooted in locations set in Louisiana is significant and makes one want to see the followup to resolve issues raised.

This episode is a caricature of itself

The writing is sloppy and predictable. Everyone ignores the "obvious" wrongs and just continues on. Sure a major has power, but for him to be able to manipulate several federal agencies, is just ridiculous. I appreciate overall story arc of the season, but the build up to the series finale is outrageous.

Showrunner loss still showing
I get that they are working themselves up to the finale, but does it really have to be this clumsy and bumbling? Pride loosing his temper, going it alone, right after telling Rudd not to lose his temper. They are getting blindsided, because they are not looking at the obvious lead, the new "security" guy. Come on!

NCIS NO wasn't ever going to be as good as the original, especially after Gregorio's character (obnoxious) was added as permanent.

This show is now officially on my list of lower priority. At the rate I'm currently dumping TV shows from my DVR (and authors from my kindle) I"m going to have loads of free time for rereads and reruns.
