The best overview on the topic of grizzly hunting that I have seen
justiceforbcgrizzlies5 April 2017
First of all, this film is professionally presented and photographed, which makes it easy to watch. Stylistically, I thought that having the killing of the Grizzly Bear take place in segments was a really good choice that added to the impact, rather than having that piece of the film be shown all at once. I appreciate how each speaker was given time to put their thoughts together. It was very calm. With such a heated topic, it's a good choice by the filmmaker to have such a diverse group of people offering their views, all treated respectfully, but in a calm manner so that the viewing audience has space to process the different points of view. In this way, the film is very educational. I am adamantly opposed to intentionally killing Grizzly Bears for sport but I appreciate hearing the views of those who hold a different opinion so that I can feel confident in the strength of my own perspective. I bought my own copy of The Grizzly Truth as it is a film that I will watch more than once.

Great information to share for those wanting to know about the Trophy Hunt

Thank you for creating this documentary! I do live in Northern BC and come from a hunting family, and have gone out moose hunting, grouse hunting, etc. I've shot a few grouse but looking back I am now thankful I never shot a moose as I have realized that I prefer 'hunting' with my camera only. In the past 5 years I have been working at various Grizzly Bear viewing businesses as well as a fishing lodge where we have bears around. I am also a wildlife photographer. I used to be quite fearful of bears and believed all the horror stories. I now understand that I don't need to be fearful but only respectful. I go and watch bears whenever and wherever I have the chance. I walk in the wilderness looking for them, and I use the tools I have learned regarding bear behaviour to stay safe to keep both of us out of trouble. My first job was working for an "ex-guide outfitter" who used to help others kill bears, and since learned what damage he was doing... and now he has a bear viewing operation where he is showing the world really what bear behaviour is about. I spent two months at this one location watching them fish, watching mothers bring their cubs by for us to babysit, watching mothers tell other subadult bears to get lost, watching male bears chase female bears around, watched subadults figuring out their pecking order and watching the old male bears who don't waste an ounce of energy like those silly 'teenagers'. It was amazing and that started turned my whole world around. I only wish everyone could go to one of these places and learn that the old colonialism beliefs are a scare tactic. That's where videos like this come in. I'm not saying there are no bears who won't attack, just like there are some people who would do the same. But if you know how to react properly in situations and how to be prepared, wow, amazing world out there! If I can turn around from thinking more bears should be shot so I feel safe in the backcountry... to trying to stop the bear and enjoying my experiences with them, so can we all! Thanks again, and let's stop this hunt!

Excellent film

#thegrizzlytruth I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this film and purchased it the other day. Thanks to Tom Reissmann for presenting such a well thought out and important film. It's an issue that all Canadians should be concerned about, not just BC residents. What is Canada without grizzly bears? My heart breaks to see them killed in such a callous manner. Trophy hunters are neither macho or brave and I think the film showed just how ridiculous their claims are. BC residents need to know what is at stake here is the survival of a species. Thanks to all of the people who are working hard to be a voice for the grizzly bear.. it gives me hope to know that there are people who truly do care. This film gives people the facts to make an informed decision on May 9th and I hope that BC residents will send a clear message to government that killing grizzly bears for sport is unacceptable.

Excellent & a highly advised watch

This movie was extremely well documented and a very emotional experience for me. There were many many great people that spoke up for our grizzly bears and I'd love to thank you all! I am now armed with more knowledge in speaking to people about the grizzly hunt after watching this. I hope you can find many places to screen this prior to the May BC election. #thegrizzlytruth

The Truth Is...
vicster-961758 April 2017
Grizzlies are our past, present, and hopefully our future. This movie depicts some of the awful truth that happens unfortunately. I feel that the more exposure these magnificent animals receive the more they will be protected. Grizzlies are a must for protecting the ecology of all creatures in the forest.

Excellent, well-rounded documentary

A comprehensive look at the issues surrounding the grizzly bear trophy hunt in British Columbia, Canada. The film looks at both sides of the hunt and examines each of the key ethical, emotional, scientific and economic arguments for the hunt.

It's well filmed and viewers can expect to have a visceral reaction to several parts of the documentary. No viewer will leave without being influenced one way or another from the stirring conclusion.

Excellent and thoroughly informative!

This was easy the best documentary I have seen on that topic and similar topics actually, a true objective insight into the facts and misconceptions. Mr. Reissmann has my respect for creating such a fluid masterpiece. He has what it takes to touch all the layers and put it all on the map without losing any flow. The killings of these majestic animals are heart-wrenching and also seeing and realizing the greed behind it. Exceptionally well done film.

Must See

This film literally has the power to change lives. The lives of these magnificent creatures but also the lives of humans by opening us up. Tom has expressed the views of both sides so eloquently and succinctly that he has, in fact, brought people of significantly different viewpoints to a common meeting ground. This is an important film to watch even if you believe that you know where you stand on the trophy hunt. Especially then. So well done.

Fantastic ant Truthful

#thegrizzlytruth This film does a fantastic job of portraying both sides, those for and those opposed to the Grizzly Bear hunt. Hunting for food and hunting for sport are two completely different areas for discussion and the film does a great job of explaining both, from the trophy hunter and from the traditional hunters perspective. It also explains in detail the cost benefit to the local economy of eco tourism and and Grizzly watching tours. As a photographer, I am opposed to trophy hunting, I found the movie expertly filmed with great views of this majestic animal. This film will certainly give you a better understanding of both perspectives.
