From someone who has lost a loved one...
cfauteux7 February 2018
This just captures all that it is about losing a loved one. I lost a daughter, yet through this episode I believe the best message I could get was from Kate explaining that its OK for her to have day where she feels awful. Its natural, and this show keeps reminding me how NORMAL I am. Miss you Bellie.

Yes.. This is us!
euronik077 February 2018
Well.. I must say that this series for me was love at first watch. And then.. Cry on first watch. And yes, I was crying from time to time, I was laughing pretty much too. And then I fall in love with this family, stories, everything. But this episode.. From 45 minutues (how long is this episode) I was crying 30 minutes. Non-stop. Till the end. They melt my heart, they hurt my heart, and then they repare my heart. This episode was in every way masterpiece of television. Why? Because..this IS us! People.. Feelings.. Our lifes.. Our loses.. Our victories! Congratulations to all! Bravo!

This is Us crying.
ranchi5 February 2018
What a masterpiece this episode and the whole series is. Such a touching show that just keeps on breaking and putting back together my heart. And this episode did just that. I'm not going to give any more details because I want this review to be spoiler free, but everything about this episode was top tier. And although everyone was flawless, I have to address the next level performance Mandy Moore gave. Thank you to everyone involved in the show. From now on, Super Sick Monday isn't about your team winning or losing the Superbowl. It's about you watching This is Us.

There are no words
madison-singfiel12 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There are no words to describe how absolutely beautiful this show is. I love stories and I especially love people's stories and this show tells one of the most beautiful stories I have ever seen. The authors don't smooth out the chips and scratches they use them to add to the story and I love that so much. And in doing so they created a story that I can't help but fall in love with.

So naturally watching this episode, seeing the fire and learning how Jack died, I couldn't help but bawl my eyes out. I mean like I started and could not stop until the very end, it just kept getting worse and then it became happy again and I cried even more because it is just so freaking beautiful. So yeah there are no words to describe how much I love this show and this story, especially with the cracks and scratches.

This was a great episode. Writing this comment with tears still falling from my eyes. The comibination of the acting, the drama, the music worked so well together. No wonder the cinema's are emptying. TV is so good right now. I only wish everything good for the creator, writers, directors, actors, musicians of this serie. Hope they can finish it in the way they intend it.

Spoilers Jack's passing phasing us to Randall's older daughter's future... Perfect !

I'm a single, hetero, 26 year old male.. and I cried like a baby.

I knew that if I survived this episode, nothing would kill me. I'm still breathing. Barely. Every question we had surrounding what happened with Jack and the house was answered. Touching moments between Kate and Toby, Randall and Tess, Kevin and Rebecca, and even a glimpse into a future we haven't seen yet. This episode had everything. 10/10.

Despite knowing what was going to happen in this episode, this was without a doubt one of the saddest, most heart wrenching episodes I've ever witnessed in my life. Beautiful job done by the production team, but damn... Words cannot explain this episode. Amazing acting by the whole team. RIP Jack Pearson. You were an amazing father.

Possible SPOILER ALERT
tinybandit5 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This show is amazing! I fell in love with it from episode one and can't wait, each week for it to air. Tonight's episode (Superbowl) had me in tears within minutes! MINUTES!!! Granted, I recently had a personal loss so my feelings and emotions are a bit rawer than normal but still..... His love for his family - her love for him - her reaction to the news - everything I can relate to. My husband had a heart attack (almost) 6 years ago and her reaction, absolutely accurate. My hubby survived (it was a 'minor' attack') but Jack's being catastrophic, that just makes me go back in time and relive what if that had been us? How strong she had to be for her kids? When mom was diagnosed w/cancer, before she told me what was wrong, she asked me to be strong and I promised her I would be. And I was - for the 3 months that she survived after but hearing the words 'be strong' just brought back memories and feelings. The show hits on real life, whether you've experienced the issues before or may in the future, it's real. I hope this show goes on for a long time because it's better than a lot of the others shows on TV....

tehaenni8 October 2018
This episode was so raw and the pain, love & loss were so -feelable- it got me crying through the whole episode. Especially Mandy Moore's performance- I can't put in words how touched by and hurt for her I was. I have never written a review before but I just had to here.

My head hurts from crying

Warning: Spoilers
Never ever had I ever cried so much in an episode. This show is the absolute best. I love how it gets to me all (ALL) the time. And Jack well, isn't he dreamy? It had gotten to the point where I'd see him and tear up. His death destroyed all us viewers, who adored him they way he was even though they show how imperfect he was. I am in tears still.

No spoilers because I want all of you guys to watch this show, I NEED you to watch it!!!

Honestly, I am a crier when it comes to TV shows. But I have never EVER balled my eyes out so much that I've given myself a headache. That's what just happened right here. This episode is absolutely perfect in every way. I've never known a show make you love the characters and stories so much - down to amazing writing, acting, directing, editing, music, absolutely everything. I cannot wait to continue this series, but kinda scared for my tear ducts...

Super Bowl Sunday (#2.14)
ComedyFan201010 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So we now got to see how Jack died. An amazing episode. The scenes in the fire are terrifying. Then Rebecca finding out that Jack died which was so unexpected was very moving. Great acting. One can see her being in absolute disbelief, who wouldn't be when he just seemed so normal...And besides that we see how they deal with it in the present. Kevin making it to the tree and calling Rebecca was a great scene as well.

Response to jack as an idiot:
mbocquet-040618 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
You don't know the rest of the series, you don't know jack, no one knows why he is such a man of action who would have done everything for his family. I'm sure we'll learn it when we'll see how his brother died, during war maybe, and Jack didn't do what he could have, maybe like kate, he was suffering from it, thinking it's his fault. Jack didn't just go for a dog, he went back in to save his family's souvenirs, so that they could remember their story the rest of their lives. The other thing we discovered in episode 15 (if you could have waited before saying stupid things) is that Jack apparently knew that he would died in a near future, or he really had some medium skills, always knowing what was gonna happen (is it to mistify the character, or really a message, that some weird things are trully real, we don't know) If you don't believe me, then why would there have been only 4 tickets to the concert in the car, that he was hiding? he didn't keep the fifth on himself or whatever. So stop accusing things, think a bit and stop complaining, things are never good or bad, red or blue, dying from smoke happen, making one decision instead of another, i mean this happens everytime at any seconds in the world for 7 billion people, there is not just one way things have to happen.

I know most will throw rocks at me, but
tennismenace8 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode goes down as one of my least favorites so far. I know......are you kidding me? But all I can do is explain why and remind you, you don't have to agree with me.....what I didn't like about this episode is that this one went for the jugular to try to rip our hearts out with undying emotion which was a bigtime overkill from my perspective. I know, Jack dying is going to be emotional, but to see the three kids still responding the way they do is just too much for my common sense. I mean, seriously, twenty years, and still acting like it happened yesterday. And then bringing Deja back on this episode was even more over the top. I mean why did they pull her back in on this episode? And why make us believe that cute young boy was going to be the one? I just thought there was too much manipulation and I for one Just didn't feel like playing along.

Now I will also add, this has been my biggest gripe about the show from day two....the manipulation they provide to try to rip our hearts out and go for the big wow moment has always been a sore subject with me. Even my wife is now coming over to this way of thinking, so I don't think it's just a guy thing. Anyhow, I think I've said all that was needed for me to justify my 5 star rating. No offense intended to the huge fans of the show and especially this episode.

Sneaky
mmarchetti-9651528 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
We already know Jacks death is coming for so long that it was not as strong as it might have been but the episode is still amazing. Firstly, the way the Rebecca reacts is more realistic than you'd expect to see. People typically take time to process before breaking down which, in most shows, is not what you get. Just when you thought the pull on your emotion is over, the real tear jerker moments come after Jacks death. Watching the aftermath in the past and the present timelines is well done .
