Riggs is in a shame spiral after a drunken one-night stand, and hitting the bottle harder than ever; Murtaugh's doing family-man stuff. Their case, although depraved, is probably the least effectual of any episode thus far . . . precisely because this is all about what goes on after hours.; the self-loathing cop and the well-adjusted partner who's there for him.
It's because of their partnership, their chemistry, that makes this resonate so well. I found it funny, engaging, deeply sad and still hopeful. This is really turning into a fine TV show.
