Succinct and heartwarming.

Warning: Spoilers
I've watched this some time ago, but only get to write this now, and I'm just going to say that this movie is spot on about forgiving and bonding. Mostly the bonding part, where 2 strangers that has never met before, trying to bond and make peace with their past.

The theme song? Yeah it's good, particularly when the 2 played piano together, and overall it's pretty good. The camera shots is pretty good as well, they have good angle to play with.

So if you haven't watch this movie, I suggest you go and do it if you have the time. If you don't like drama, maybe this movie isn't for you. But if you like drama, this movie might be your cup of tea.

Light, simple, but meaningful

Letters From Prague is a light film full of meaning. This film has themes about forgiveness, struggle and love. The story in this film is very simple, light, and the audience doesn't need to think hard, but behind that this film contains a lot of meaning. The dialogues are actually okay, but sometimes they feel a bit stiff. The background story of each character is quite deep, and during the film the bonding between Laras and Pak Jaya's characters is quite heartwarming. The ending doesn't feel like it's anything special, but that doesn't mean the ending is bad or anything. The pacing is pretty good, no need to speed up or slow down any more. And there is something that feels annoying and a bit forced, namely the product placement, the placement or timing is not good and smooth. The cinematography here is very beautiful, with camera placement and movement that seems to have been done very well, especially as the background is the city of Prague which makes the film even more beautiful and makes the audience feel like they are being taken around the city. The music really fits the atmosphere and theme of the film, especially as the soundtrack used is songs by Glenn Fredly which also plays an important role for the story. Julie Estelle's acting here is actually good, but her movements are like she's playing a theater play. But Tio Pakusadewo's acting here is really really good, and still the chemistry between the two of them here is very touching. Overall, this film is very suitable to watch casually with the family.

One of the best Indonesian film in decade
rifqi_klose30 October 2018
This film makes me so optimistic about Indonesian films in future years, thanks to Angga Dwimas Sasongko for made Surat dari Praha, this films not only shows us exotic place in European or asian country like many of Indonesian films in recent years, but it still able to keep the story on the track and even has a good development for the two of main characters, and the music too, is so heartwarming, Julie Estelle is multi talented actress, she can play in drama, musical or even action genre , and Tio Pakusadewo acting is still charming like usual. The only weakness in this film is Placement Product in some scene is not smooth and like an ordinary commercial product in television (for example candy and coffee scene) and one more, some acting performance of minor characters in Prague is so awkward.

Deep meaningful story

This movie make me believe that indonesia still have a worth to watch movie. This is simply story line, but really deep in meaning. The professional actors , Prague's bountifulness's, and the beautiful music background. We all know music can unite everybody , even the stranger. The actors piano's talent seems so flawless. The expression even the dog expression looks so natural and real. If you are want to watch a light movie but contains so much meaning you should watch this. You don't need think a lot, but the story line really unpredictable . With the music, the Prague so comforting. Not only tell about the Love story of someone but also the love to the country, it thrills me out when they sang "IndonesiaPusaka". Hope Indonesia keep making tons movie with a really great meaning and qualities.

Could be much better

I watch this movie with optimistic, it got a very exciting premise and quite good reviews, but the direction, writing, and acting is just not able to fulfill my expectation. The character development is quite shallow. I don't have any emotion tied to Jaya, Laras, and character like Dewa should be explored more, you can go on with the story without Dewa because He got a very thin layer. Through things that Jaya've been through should thrill your soul, but I don't feel anything.

I also feel like some shots are taken once and got into the film because of some limitations. The Indonesian language that they use, I can't relate at all, it's like the actors are reading them without truly understand what they're saying. I don't feel any raised tense, It's flat from the beginning to end, I worry about nothing ever happened to the characters. The shots are nothing special, They could've explore the city of Prague more because they have a very beautiful architecture, make us relate more about what kind of city Jaya been living for most of his life.

In conclusion, I definitely will never watch this again, it's a boring one, but among Indonesian films, I think it's quite good. Especially the scene when Jaya waited outside of the embassy. It's just one of few good scenes that somewhat touch you.
