This felt like the most satisfying and scary hour American Horror Story: My Roanoke Nightmare has delivered yet. Questions are finally being answered, back-stories were explained, and two characters were taken from us too soon.
Even though we are largely dealing with back-story here, there are still a whole lot of questions that need answering. One of the many things I love about American Horror Story is (you guessed it) they always deliver on great stories. Stories with character development, story with subplots, stories within stories!
Is That You Evan Peters?
If you have looked through any social media talking about this season, a large majority are wondering where the hell is Evan Peters?! Many people are wondering if and when he will show up. On the other hand, maybe he has already shown up. Maybe, just maybe he has shown up as Pig Man? In Episode 4, they brought us a better look at the mysterious "Pig Man", who many fans are potentially pinning down as linked to Murder House's "Piggy Man". Piggy Man is from season one of American Horror Story. Pig Man is an urban legend, which terrorized one of the characters the first season.
And the more we see of "Pig Man" the more I'm slowly becoming convinced Peters has been hiding in plain sight this entire time, which would explain away how his name appears so far up in the show's credits. That pig mask is going to have to come off sometime.
Episode 4 is what makes this show so great. Episode 4 still manages to keep us on the edge of our seats, invested in the story, give the audience back - story, has nail biting thrills, and for the first time in this season we get some laughs. We are introduced to a new character, named Cricket Marlowe, played by Leslie Jordan. Who really is a good break from all the murder, mayhem, and overall dark tone from the series.
Lady Gaga Wants To Ruin The Love Game Between Sarah Paulson and Cuba Gooding Jr.?
No spoilers here, but Lady Gaga returns, and luckily she is better here than the last season. I am just going to say Lady Gaga is obsessed with Matt, played by Cuba Gooding Jr. Cricket Marlowe has an interaction with Gaga, and he says, "I met the b*tch with the real power." Whom is he referring to? That lovely lady, turns out, is Lady Gaga, the forest witch. After assaulting Cricket, she agrees to show him what Roanoke is all about. In exchange, all she wants is sexual relations with Matt (sounds like my kind of witch). "I tried to resist, but it was impossible," Matt says. Seriously, this guy sounds like every cheating spouse 101. But this scene provides us with some backstory on the forest witch, Angela Bassett's daughter, and more.
So these are my final Bitchin' Buddha thoughts on chapter four. It is better than chapter 3, and It feels like the show is definitely going in a direction I enjoy, and in the direction I think you will enjoy. I believe episode 4 earns a
9 out of 10!
