A surprise to be sure but a welcome one

Warning: Spoilers
As the series ended (at least on YouTube) with it's 6th and final episode. It has got to be a greatest surrealist independent kids-parody creation I've have ever seen so far.

Off course it's not for anyone with a faith of heart or a weak stomach, but it's surely popular among the creepy/weird community and eventually the millions of people known as the 'general audience' on YouTube

Beginning as they usually would do, it start out as a normal looking kids show. It then shows the origin story of how the shows begins as it continues and end with the alternated version of themselves in the 1st episode anew.

I wonder what will happen?

Warning: Spoilers
'Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 6 (2016)' is a suitably unsettling finale. It fully embraces its self-eating-snake nature, being more overtly meta than ever before. The initial song, an unwanted exploration of dreams that prevents a mourning Yellow Guy from going to sleep, isn't actually what the piece is about. As such, it doesn't really have any thematic resonance. What does have thematic resonance, though, is the surprise plot that soon emerges from the opening's more regular proceedings. This picture really turns the series on its head; it's more abstract than ever before. The thing performs a lot of fan-service, but it actually feels relevant to the story it's trying to tell. That story attempts to tie off the overall series, providing the biggest glimpse behind the curtain so far. Though it's a tad difficult to parse, it does provide definite, albeit somewhat ambiguous, answers to the series' many enigmas. It's also quite creepy in some unexpected ways. I'll take this opportunity to discuss Yellow Guy's dad, Roy, who has also appeared in most of the previous shorts (beware some mild spoilers). Roy appears to be in control of the show that his son, Red Guy and Duck are trapped within. He represents a controlling parent, someone forcing their child to do something they don't want to do; this acts as a commentary on the many 'Hollywood parents' who use their children as a means to make money. Roy, essentially, uses his kid as a tool to get across his restrictive messaging. He's also coded as a creep, which could lead to some even more upsetting implications. He's more or less the true 'villain' of the series and is also one of its most disquieting aspects. Overall, this an entertaining and intelligent affair throughout. It isn't the best of the bunch, but it's a great ending to the series. Its finale makes it clear that just because the show is over doesn't mean its horror is. In the end, there's no escaping it. 8/10.

6: If you haven't seen this, watch it

Warning: Spoilers
This insane adventure is finally over. And it goes out with a bang.

This episode might be confusing to someone who hasn't seen the full series, but the callbacks especially are amazing.

This is such a cool way to end a series. Tons of visually interesting moments, and lots of cool and scary scenes, without relying on gore AT ALL to create the mood.

I love everything about this episode, from the yellow guy's reaction to everything, the tons of new brief songs and characters like Mr. Gel, and the boring reality of, well- reality! And, the music (not the song) but the music is great.

Also, drowning in oil

A perfect ending to a brilliant miniseries, that becomes a surprisingly accurate depiction of our manipulated 21st century lives.

Warning: Spoilers
These 6 episodes have been amazing, thought-provoking, silly, innovative, but certainly also creepy, or even terrifying. But the latter is not only due to the brilliant set- and audio-disign, but also because of how remarkably close to reality it's themes are. I believe this show is about everyday life and how we're being controlled, pressured and guided into a repetitive and unhelathy direction by belief, computers, brands and society.

DHMIS 1 tries to prevent you from thinking for yourself or make personal choises. DHMIS 2 distracts you. DHMIS 3 wants to have you living a normal life, honoring traditions and religion (but more like a cult). DHMIS 4 distracts you again, and tracks & controls you with computers. DHMIS 5 tries to get you to buy certain mass produced foods, like commercials do. DHMIS 6 shows peer pressure by people that have also been manipulated by these other factors.

It takes a lot of courage to pursue your creativity and personality, but if you manage to pull the plug of media and society dragging you down, you might be able to do what you desired. Either that, or the entire proces starts over again. Quite brilliant!

It was all a dream

Warning: Spoilers
Seriosly it was all just a dream. It has nothibg to do with media brainwashibg people. But still, its a drean, but it goes not feel cheap. Everything in the series builed up to this. Going to the real world is so... off, that it is frightening, despite nothing scary happening. A near perfect finale.

Hits rock-bottom, stays rock-bottom
Horst_In_Translation2 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The title "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 6" already gives away that this animated short film is already the 6th entry to the pretty successful DHMIS series by writer and directors Joseph Pelling and Becky Sloan. And it is another success for them as it will probably have 15 million views on Youtube by its 1st anniversary in June 2017. And the bad thing is that it will probably encourage the makers to deliver new stuff to this series in the coming years. Some people may say that this series has gotten worse over the years and that the first entry/entries was/were significantly better, but in my opinion the series did not really get any worse. It was bad from the beginning. I have only seen the first, which was bearable yet forgettable, and the second, which was as horrific as this one, but I am pretty sure I will not like entries 3 to 5 more than the rest as soon as I check them out.

Now about this one here. There is one mildly funny moment at the very beginning when they guy just wants to sleep and not hear a lesson on dreams and nightmares and making fun of these educational programs was always a crucial plot point for this series. But when they try to be individually creative, as with the red furry guy or all the action back in the bedroom eventually, it just turns into a huge mess and it becomes obvious that the writers don't have it and that, by now, I can't see them make a movie, a full feature film, that exists with a really creative message. This one here really is only weirdness and awkwardness, but not funny in a way, yet it is so obvious that they tried so hard for it to be funny. Animation isn't good either. A major failure and I think you may want to stay as far away from this one as possible. Then again, it's highly unlikely you will check out this one without having seen any of the previous one, so if you find these funny for whatever inexplicable reason, then maybe you can check out this one too. I wouldn't recommend it though.
