What an ending!
bradburns-9370927 August 2018
I've watched this series and enjoyed it. Great Zeppelin music throughout. No high drama really until the end. It's like a slow burn but the last episode works out everything. The last line of dialogue sums up the theme of the whole series.

Definitely agree with another user, a slow burn until the end. Last two episodes I had to remind myself to breathe.

The way the episode went on and how the quickly went through with Adora it felt wrong! Like there is more to this, it's not enough ending it this way. And yes they did not! The last moment when she saw the teeth my hands wrere on my head screaming. Really good show and final episode.

It was inevitable

All the signals were there, so it doesn't come as a real surprise, yet I couldn't take my eyes off of all the beautifully performing actresses for a millisecond not even to run to the bathroom. Twisted families twisted so beautifully in the winds of time itself..Bravo! Well executed suspense!

It bites me

Warning: Spoilers
I have seen many horrors.. it's kind of a hobby But only some of them are panicked me with my own thoughts and makes me think through the ending, figuring out plot twists, and crawled in my dreams.. thats what a good art does to one.

The creators hit us with the writting which makes us take the responsibility to think about rest of the scenes... not with the close up damaged face shots or high volume unexpected suddenly moves.

For each episodes my suspect list was shrinked like it meant to be and Adora was the prior, even Cherif was a " might be" but no no not amma..

Showing amma as a rude, bored girls... first I thought Barking dog won't bite

Oh god see they out thinked us. They made it like nothing that came out before.. most of all they tricked me.. this rare thing, it satisfied me.

Amazing
EpimetheusA121 March 2019
I appreciate HBO's efforts in making my favorite books into series, first with Game of Thrones, then Big Little Lies, and now Sharp Objects.

The show itself was a slow burn, moving at the pace of the brilliant novel by Gillian Flynn, but it captures the small-town claustrophobia and the mounting terror skillfully. It's not until this episode that things become apparent, truths are revealed, and all of the amateur sleuthing becomes both deadly and devastating.

This episode brings everything together and it does it in a way that will make you feel sick to your stomach as you watch it happen. And when it's done, you'll gasp for breath only to have the air stolen from your lungs again at the very last scene. AND THEN THE AFTER CREDITS SCENE. Yes, I'm aware that there are plot holes and yes, I do think that they distract a bit from the major storyline. But because of the raw emotion this episode brings, I'll still rate this show a 10/10 because it's just that good.

Can't believe the misinterpreted reviews

Warning: Spoilers
Did you watch to the end of the credits? You must! It tells you who killed the girls!! The entire ending is explained and, why on earth is someone asking, why did Camille eat the dinner? SHE WAS TRYING TO POISON HERSELF TO PULL THE ATTENTION FROM HER SISTER!! And if you watch to the end of the credits, you will find out why Amma couldn't tell on her mother! There's nothing missing, nothing unanswered, and now that Camille is wise, did you SEE THE TEETH? Maybe there's more to tell but I doubt it. They even eluded many times to how this could be inherited? THINK ABOUT IT!!! If it wasn't Camille? Who? Jeez, it's not even hard!

We enjoyed this series. The show isn't really over until you watch the credits. About half way through, one sees what happened to the girls.

matiasbockerman27 August 2018
While i'm watching first two episode I was thinking "this is so boring", altought the atmosphere, acting, directing and soundediting was spectacular. Episode by episode series involved and getting more and more tense and two lasti episodes wasti so.. wow!. Definately better than Big little lies. Beautiful and touching end, I actually cried in the end.

I've never seen another TV show so elegantly simulate the experience of living with trauma.

It's these questions that power the transfixing and powerful final hour of Sharp Objects. If you're expecting the series to present a finale of polished twists and simple resolutions, you'll be disappointed.

Unsatisfying

Warning: Spoilers
Too much left out. I was expecting a better and more satisfying ending but as compared to the book, this episode felt rushed. From not quite showing how the girls did it and even to how amma killed the new neighbor or even her being arrested. Unsatisfying.

DON'T TELL MAMA!

Episode Eight: Milk

You remember the scene from Inside Llewyn Davis, when Llewyn, after finishing singing Shoals of Herring to his father, said wow twice, and each one of them mean a totally different, and contradictory something to the other? That's exactly were my reactions to the two twists in this bizarre episode.

Throughout the show, there were enough subtle signs, and hints for how the show will end. Signs that only make you doubt and confuse you, but never make you predict the ending, or become entirely sure how it will be. That's how to make a clever twist!

Also, I found the rushed denouement completely acceptable. Contradicting the slow-burn nature of the show, the insanely hurried ending sequences reflected Sharp Object's sickness, and made me feel uneasy.

That being said, the very subtle twists that I admired utterly tarnished the near-perfect previous episode, Falling. An episode that's easily the best in the whole show became otherwise futile, filler, and worst of all, manipulative and misleading. It's a shame that a great episode as Milk becomes the main reason I'll give this terrific show less than nine out of ten. Of course that will make me not give this episode a great score regardless of how narratively, and technically flawless it is.

Emmy... sorry Amy Adams is the best actress of our generation, period! Also, Eliza Scanlen has a potential to be just like Adams. She is truly remarkable!

Good stuff, shame it took all season.
bombersflyup29 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Milk starts off like a Hannibal film, music playing, Clarice drugged unable to function. The only thing missing is the brain eating cannibal. Then it's all sunshine and roses and Amma says "I could eat you up," there's our cannibal. Funny twist, what's Camille going to do now?

Bravo!

Warning: Spoilers
This is one of few "last episodes" in a serie's season that truely intrigued me. There's a twist you should have seen coming, a disturbing narrative on the reality of -in this case- a psychic disorder, and -of course- a cliffhanger. Bummer: "Minus 1 star...". Some would say: "Minus 8.", at this point... But an important trigger for me to absolutely fall in love with Sharp Objects was the Schnucks shopping bag that Allan Crellin sets on the table while Adora is preparing 'another dose' for Camille. It may be nothing, but" "What is Google not telling me..?". Anyway, it made me need to re-watch all episodes -all over again- to see what I missed, and "how did I miss it?". ... You didn't miss it, you just ignored the relevance ;-)

Last episode was such intense. Everything is settled at the end. I like to watch a serial when it lasts for 1 season.

Disappointing ending
erinbearp27 August 2018
Each episode so far has been painfully slowly revealing clues and personalities and oddities. This final episode seems so rushed and smashed together and overall unbelievable. Amy Adams' performance is still great as always though.

Warning: Spoilers
Actress Elizabeth Perkins in an IMDB interview said the director would get so involved in the atmosphere of the show that he had to be often reminded there was a plot and things had to move along!

That pretty much sums up the entire problem with "Sharp Objects". The show meandered and stood in one place so many times it resembled a Still Life painting of a crumbling southern town with a crumbling old mansion and a lone car (Camille's) making it's way thought a deserted street.

Was it well acted? Yes. Was it beautifully shot? Yes. Was it compelling enough to be 8 hours? No. It was a pretty standard who done it with the requisite surprise at the end. And I do not mean the scenes during the credits which were so fast and MTV style edited they were pointless. Camille's discovery before the credits made it clear who the killer really was. That they had help was no surprise either. Why was no surprise, too, though it wasn't addressed it was targeted a couple eps prior: the murdered girls simply did not fit in. They were different. They weren't fancy phony "good girls".

The ending leaves things open for a second season if they can lure Amy Adams back. She has expressed in the trades no intention of playing that role again as it took so much out of her emotionally. There isn't much of the source material to mine, either.

(In it the killer is committed to an institution, Camille moves in with her editor and his wife; but somehow the killer escapes).

Over all if a Speilberg had been controlling the direction the show would have hit all the emotional points and been a four hour mini-series!

Ruined in an episode
pmoitinho27 August 2018
Plot twists are seriously boring, even more so when they are predictable and unnecessary. This show was never about the crimes and all about the characters. Why this? A fantastically crafted script gets ruined by an amateurish finale. And don't get me started on the post credit scenes. Why the need? We get the point and it's a sloppy one. Seriously disappointing.

Underwhelming nonsensical end
alienf3tus27 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This angers me. I just have a lot of questions that were never answered in the show and, frankly, the ending doesn't make much sense. Why would Camille eat the dinner in the first place? Wouldn't she know it was probably poisoned? Even then, why did she voluntarily swallow Adora's medicine? So many opportunities to spit it out. And when the police came to the house, the shot just stays on Amy Adams laying on the floor - I want to see what's going on! Also why was Ashley acting so strange throughout the entire series? Why was there blood on her carpet a few episodes ago? So much that doesn't make sense in this.

As a whole, the entire show, and especially the ending, was incredibly underwhelming and disappointing.

Just read the book
swinstono7728 November 2018
As an avid reader I've seen many shows and movies based on books and none are ever as good as the books . That being said this series was "ok" it wasn't awful it just left a lot of unanswered questions and reasoning behind some of the characters actions. Shows and movies know matter how well done just can't go into as much detail depth as the book. So my opinion is just read the book or if you don't have time for that there's always audio books :)

It could be better

Warning: Spoilers
This episode is huge dissapointment from the begginning to the end. Plot is poor and predictable. Camilla's desisions don't make any sense. There is no logic at all in what she was doing. Went there and pretend being ill and drunk that liquid knowing that it must be poisoned. Why? Nobody was forsing her. Nobody threaten her. She can just walk away. Steal that bottle to expertise. Just take her sisters hand and drive away. The dors were opened. What the hell? Why to do it like that? So poor. So boring. Second part of the episode was predictable - her friend was the one who called the police and ger sister being murdurer. They make is obvious. I am really mad. So interesting show. But so poor ending.
