Masterfully executed shocker of an episode.
chandanr77720 August 2018
This is without doubt one of the finest episodes in any TV show I've ever watched. The things that looked normal in the previous episodes suddenly looked so creepy in this episode. Every scene was powerful - Between John and Camille for sharing their sorrows, between Camille and Richard for obvious reasons, between Amma and Adora for the most chilling moments of the episode and finally the scene between Camille and Jackie that almost brought tears to my eyes. The main female cast of Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, Elizabeth Perkins and the young Eliza Scanlen delivered a performance of the highest order. One has to really applaud the skill of director Jean-Marc Vallée here for masterfully integrating the flashback scenes and psychological montages which made the episode more effective. The songs that were chosen to be played were perfect according to the situation which was another highlight of this masterfully executed episode.

Secrets, Lies and More Secrets, then, More Lies

We've witnessed the slowest burn for six weeks and it all leads to this episode.

Everything comes full circle, and we finally understand what is happening inside the mansion of Crellins including what happened to the poor Marian. I don't wanna spoil anything but the scene between Camille (Amy Adams) and John (Taylor John Smith) at the bar is the highlight of this episode. The tension between two characters who have the same history of losing their sisters; oh man, this scene alone solved the paradox of John being a killer or not. The best thing about this episode is that even though the secrets are starting to reveal, the director avoid all the clichés of horror/thriller shows and films (like relying on suspenseful music, running in terror to save someone's lives, etc.) instead the creators make it simple without losing the tone of the show.

We have seen the cynical, stubborn, surly sides of Camille during the previous episodes but in this episode, we learn that she is still vulnerable and fragile like all of us after all that she's been through. We will see our Amy sweeping Golden Globe, SAG, Critics Choice and next year Emmy for her incredible performance as our unlikable protagonist, Camille Preaker.

The acting skills of all the major supporting actors (e.g. Chris Messina) and actresses (e.g. Elizabeth Perkins who finally got some scenes to shine in this episode) should not be forgotten espeically the flawlessly subtle performance by Patricia Clarkson. By the way, keep your eyes on young talents like Eliza Scanlen and Taylor John Smith; they are gonna be the next big things in Hollywood if they continue choosing the ambitious projects like Sharp Objects.

Hands down, this is the best episode of Sharp Objects so far and hope the series finale will be as amazing and thrilling as this one.

Phantom Objects!
AhmedSpielberg9922 August 2018
Episode Seven: Falling

Almost every single scene in Falling provides us with answers, but the entire episode is actually an answer. An answer to the questions of those who kept asking: "Why this show is so slow?" "Why there is nothing happening?" "When will the show pick up?"

In a very Phantom Thread-esque way, Sharp Objects considered the twist ending as an outworn and clichéd manner of revealing and shocking. Jean-Marc Vallée tied up everything, and revealed that this show is an in-depth character study. And also made every character so vital to the story. Jean-Marc Vallée blurred the boundaries between the so-called main characters, and side characters; and gave us nothing but three-dimensional characters through and through.

That being said, the fact that all what have revealed are in only one episode, that is the one before the series finale, annoyed me a little bit.

Before I end this review, I wanted to mention that Emmy Adams's performance is phenomenal as always. Yes! this is what I'll call her from now on. Because if the Academy don't want to give her an Oscar, so she must have an Emmy.

The lost girls

Warning: Spoilers
My mother did it! I always suspected her. Natalie's brother is arrested. His girlfriend turned him in for fame. Camille believes he's not the killer and she makes love with him. Adora has Manchausen by proxy and she's inflicting it upon Amma too like she did to her dead daughter.

I can see why Stephen King said " when I got to the last 30 pages I couldn't put the book down!" For me It's like an itch that can't be scratched! I am just mesmerized by the gorgeous Amy Adams as she dawns on the killer identity as she races to save her sister! the brilliant gorgeous Marti Noxon has done an amazing job bringing this story to the screen! Kudos Marti~!

The answers to the series' ongoing mysteries start to fall into place at a breakneck speed.

Personally, I appreciate the way Sharp Objects turns that anticipation on its head, demonstrating its priorities by deferring others; this is a story not about specific crimes, but the culture that led to them and the women who still endure it.

At the pace it is going...
songod-9500321 August 2018
... I fail to see how all the elements in the book will be completed in one more hour ep. Unless of course the director shoots up a load of caffeine! Seriously, so much has to happen quickly that it may not be possible... maybe that is intentional to leave the door open for a second season. I do not know. What I do is judging by the previous eps, including this one, there is little chance of everything getting it's due without an opening ending which could lead to a second season (mostly TV made as there was only one book).

Finally!! This show had me hooked from the start but it's a little slow. This episode started to tie things up. It had me on the edge of my seat. I hated when it ended. Can't wait for next week!!

Still nope.

Warning: Spoilers
Things are in motion, though I don't think deserving of the huge rating spike. Figured Adora was responsible for something. She's guilty of munchausen by proxy, to feel needed, disgusting.

Falling

Warning: Spoilers
Finally, Sharp Objects make it clear what is going on, who the target is and showed a plan for the season finale. Before this it sort of felt like a show didn't even have enough content for a movie, let alone an 8 episode series.

Amy Adams acting overall is solid, but I think there are too many flaws with the character in general. The defenders of the show will call it layered, but I call it sloppy writing.

FINALLY something is happening
astonmatters20 August 2018
Finally things start to move along in this excellent episode. It is intense, surprising, emotional, revealing ... frankly, everything I had hoped the entire series would be. Unfortunately, I am not sure everyone watching stayed around to get to this point. And even I can't quite forget what a drag it sometimes has been up until now. I completely understand that you have to take your time to build atmosphere and tension, but seriously, two episodes shorter and the entire series would have been amazing altogether.
